Maximizing Opportunities in Treasury Remote Working

This is a YouTube video titled "Maximizing Opportunities in Treasury Remote Working" containing a monologue by Mike Richards recorded in May 2023. Mike discusses trends in remote and hybrid work roles within the treasury sector, challenges of fully remote treasury positions, salary trends in the US, and recruitment insights for treasury roles in various cities.
We're seeing the roles coming up and saying a lot of remote roles. Now. I was approached by someone just the other day and they said, oh, do you recruit remote roles? No, we don't. And we don't. Because the fact is if someone puts a role that says remote on it, they can put it on LinkedIn and they get 150 people that day. Now, are 150 of them suitable? Probably not. Probably about. You'd be lucky to get 50%, but that 50%, some of them will be suitable for a role. But why I'm actually finding. I'm just talking about this on the podcast. Remote roles in treasury don't work so well. Don't. Not all the time. But there needs to be a mix of in person because treasury, by its very nature, there's a lot of mentoring, a lot of coaching, a lot of meeting with your business partners and things like that. Can it work? Yes, it can, but it's hard work to actually make that work. Leanne Perkins, she's amazing. She works remotely for Specialized. They're based on the West Coast. She's in Texas. She makes that work. But actually we're seeing less remote roles, 100% remote. What we are seeing is more hybrid or blended ways of working. Treasury analyst roles. Getting some good responses with recruiting roles in New York. I've got a couple of things in Philadelphia, actually, so if you're looking for new positions there, let us know. Send us your resume. Treasury manager roles, little bit stickier in that market because people are being a bit more specific about what they want, which is fine. Salaries, we're not going to go deep dive that. But this is the US Salaries, they are rising rapidly still within the US but they're keeping pace with inflation, I would say. But the point is they're keeping pace. They're not overtaking inflation. They're. So I am seeing salaries rising, but they're not rising above inflation. So what's meaning is, yes, you're getting another 10, $15,000 in your pay packet, but your costs to live are 10 to $15,000 more. So it's just like, if you like. So it's a parity, if you like. We'll come back on salaries in a moment.
