Foreign. So, welcome back to another Treasury Career Corner video podcast. Pleased to say that we're approaching the end of 20, 2018, approaching 2019, and the future is looking good, actually. Really enjoyed a year's worth of speaking we had on the podcast previously. Dan talking about the international market. Danielle talking about some of the developments she's seen within the uk. More junior market. Craig also talking when we were at the afp, talking about how that's developed as a market itself. And it's. Yeah, it's going well, actually. So really pleased. So what are. What's happening at the senior end of the market and where do we see it going next? Well, next, we've seen, obviously, turbulent economic times globally. There's been changes within Europe, there's political change within the us, there's been this. What do you call it? Brex. Brexit, that was it. All of this has had an influence, an impact on recruitment activity. Treasury itself, and treasury recruitment is a specialist area, so it's slightly less affected. Volatility is a little bit less, because as a specialist area, we walk a midline. You don't get a phone call one day, say, right, Mike, we want five treasurers. You get maybe a new treasurer, maybe treasury analyst or a couple of roles like that. It's a more stable model, but it doesn't mean there's a boom time, doesn't mean there was a bust time. Also, in the times of Brexit, one of the things I've been talking about at conferences is that people are saying, oh, you know, how do you see it affecting? Well, it's not really affected us, particularly, because in times of crisis like that, that's when treasure has come to the fore. That's where they are actually managing a lot of this stuff. What has been pleasing is that actually our activity levels have grown globally, if that's the right way. UK's gone up Europe, you've got Dan, he's doing a great job. We recruiting out in Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, right the way across. Recently gave the Austrian keynote speech. Really enjoyed it. Really great to meet some of our clients out there. Usa, as I say, has been coming back to life, pleased to say. We recently did a big video campaign for Under Armour and that's resulted in a successful placement. So onwards and upwards with good old Craig in the US. Thanks, Craig. @ the senior level, there has been some activity in 2017, if you like. It was very much more. Some new stuff coming through. It was really exciting. 2018, a little bit more business as usual. When people have Moved it's been much more recruit to replace. When the clients are recruiting, what they have said is that they want someone who can walk in, hit the ground running and really make an impact straight away. I've also been asked at a number of the conferences this year whether I've seen the actual role of the treasurer evolve or change. Given the rise of number of things like new technology, blockchain, straight through processing, fintech. I wouldn't say it's necessarily changed but because treasurers are experts in lots of areas, risk management, fx, running your bank relationships and you've combined this with having a decent knowledge of IT and systems or bringing in systems and control guys to work for you. Now the thing, the pressure I've noticed when I'm talking to treasurers is that you guys are managing all of these things whilst at the same time doing your day job. So pretty challenging. And in the past, whereas treasurers were sometimes seen as the specialist risk FX banking person, now it's all together, you're being expected to do that. Also mentor and coach your treasury teams. CFOs are saying, look, I want you to solve my problems. You're expected to provide solutions to your businesses and be that headache solver, that paracetamol for your CFO's problems if you like. So it's definitely a challenging role to be a modern day treasurer, but keeping a pulse if you like, on the way the job market is shaping up. Well that's our job. So feel free to reach out to us, give us a call and we can tell you exactly what's happening at any one time. One of the good things that we've managed to bring back this year is actually our Global Treasury Salary survey. We assess the salaries of treasury professionals globally from treasury analyst level right through to group treasurer. We've currently approaching the 600 mark. We since we launched it a few months ago, it's going well right the way across Europe and we want to do country specific surveys where we can. Obviously it takes a long time to complete. All of three minutes. That's right, maximum of three minutes. And in return what do you get? 200 pages of insightful information. It's free, but we only share those full results with those people who take part. So it's only going to go out to about 600 of you. We will share some of the other highlights but you don't get the rest. It's impartial, independent, comprehensive. One of the other things we noticed as well was that 70% of people were actually happy in their role. So you're thinking, oh, God, we're going to be out of a job soon. We're all right, actually, because what we discovered after that was 80% of people are actually looking for a new role. So whilst they're happy, everybody's still looking. So it's a good time to be thinking about, you know, making a new move, but also trying to retain your current staff. We can give you advice about that. If you want to take part in the survey, it's treasurysalary.com it's a good place to take part and only, only those who participate get the full result. So, to wrap up today's video, what I want to say is thank you very much. Thank you for listening to the podcast. Thank you for trusting us with when you want us to recruit for you, trusting us with that as well, because we don't take it lightly. Looking forward to the future. 2019 looking good. Going to be doing a number of conferences next year, spreading them out a bit more this year, and we're going to be looking to the future. We believe that treasury talent planning is a key thing. Coming through. Lots of new challenges with IT systems, but also on a personal level, you've got different things like personal branding, LinkedIn, all the Rise of those things. Next year is going to be an interesting year, so we're looking towards the future and that's going to be the theme of a lot of our conferences. We're actually looking at the future of treasury talent. If you want to hear more, sign up to our podcast, sign up to our New Insights newsletter, if you will, and that's actually going to be able to give you lots more interesting information and, well, until now. We hope to see you in 2019. Many thanks. It.
