Mike Richards explains why he dislikes hybrid work but argues it's essential for running a successful company. He shares insights on collaboration and recent experiences that forced him to reckon with the reality of how modern teams actually work.
I spoke to both Leanne and Joel about the fact that, you know what, I actually don't like hybrid. I don't like remote. But I recently again, I said to we in our offices, we had some issues recently with our connectivity. I said to my colleague Craig, go home. You've got to start these zooms, these team meetings with these clients who was doing it. And then I was sitting in the office by myself, like, okay, this is a very big, expensive office for me, just sitting here. So we've actually moved to working from home. I don't like it, but I realized that if I want to run a successful company, I've got to embrace it. And you know, when I actually look at this, I was just looking at some of the, you know, the takeaways. You'll hear one of the key ones for me that sticks out is this collaboration, actually collaborating. You know, we're doing a course with my colleagues in a few weeks time. We were at the Euro finance conference. We were together actually. It's easier not to be, you know, it's easier just, you know, so. But it doesn't make it easy. You know, work is hard.
