Hello, everyone, it's Mike Richards here. Mike's Insights. Let's get straight into it. Current state of the job market. Did it in the newsletter a couple of weeks ago and I want to share some other personal stuff as well. That so January onslaught. It continues. In one of my previous newsletters, I said how the job market's slowly improving, but a bit sluggish. Why? It's bonus season, baby. Yeah, People, why would someone resign now? A month or maybe two months, but before they get awarded their bonus, they get the bit of the letter they get in the pay slip. This is resonating with a lot of you and when I'm talking to you, lots of people, though, are looking for a move. That's what I'm saying is the onslaught I'm getting, CVs, resumes, people reaching out. Can you help me? Can you help me find a new role yet? When do you want to leave? Not yet. Oh, okay. I want to have a discussion. It's great. I'd love to talk to everyone. It's a bit tough at the moment because it's so busy with lots of things. We've got all our events as well. I also caught up with a good mate of my Mark. He's gonna meet Mark, big shout out there. Had lunch and I said to him, look, I'm doing these videos, doing this stuff. He said, brilliant, keep going, keep doing them. I was like, all right, you sure? It's a bit. He said, they're great. He said, because you. He said, for me. For him, rather. He said, I'm talking to people in my treasury team. I've got some other friends in treasury departments and things like that. Talked about my company. But you're our barometer, if you like, you're our industry measure. You're talking to 100 different treasuries a month. Yeah, I am. And that's thousands of years. What's happening. That's why we want these insights. They're a yardstick of what's happening in the market. Is it recruiting? Is it quieter? What salaries, doing everything else. So we've had the CV onslaught, log jammer talent, everyone looking there. Then also talk to Mark about post Covid and he said, what's the market doing? I said, well, look, December 2021, I think it was. Covid was ending 2022 slow. Return to work, getting used to hybrid working, new way of working, work from home. 2023, boom time, lots of people moving around. Mega busy year. Frustrations from static. 2021, 2022, if you like. So lockdowns, you know that happened. They then people are starting to come out that want to move. So people are starting to get a bonus. Then sometimes not till now are they getting realistic bonuses. But they still weren't getting the pay rises. So what I've started to see and my January 2025 salary survey still take part if you want to treasurysalary.com pay rises are finally catching up with the cost of living. So that is helping you guys cope with it. Pay for everything. Pay for an expensive world out there. Inflation's going up as well. But bonuses, I'm seeing this also through the salary survey. They're finally getting back to normal. What they were like pre covered if you like. So what 2019, 2020. So actually recovering on that. So if you're considering a move, let me know. If you want to, you know, find out about the market, reach out. I will try and come back to you as much as possible. Other Things Podcast Highlights Meredith Vance Amazing lady on this week's episode. Great conversation. It's also led me to two or three other people who said, oh, love your podcast. Love Mered. Do you want to have me on the podcast? Brilliant. If you're watching this and you're a treasurer and you've got story to share and you think, yeah, you want to be on the podcast, reach out. Will you have a look at it? Treasury CareerCorner.com Other things recruitment Roulette this week, this newsletter. It was a client who approached me a few weeks ago but actually just pre Christmas and they were working with two generalist recruiters. They've gone all the way through. They'd had a hundred people, they'd reviewed all to zero. Generalist recruiter wasn't getting the talent. None fitting the bill. Then they came to, oh, we want to use your specialist service. Okay, I'm up for this. Great. I can do this. And we want you to tell we had a lower agreed rate with these guys. We want you to match it. Sorry, what? Yep. So I need to match their fee. They failed. They didn't get you the right people. And you want me to match the two recruiters? I was like, yes, sorry, can't help you. What? Why not? I said I don't mind doing the work but I want to be paid a normal fee. I I know out there I can guarantee an audience. We can't always guarantee the response, but if you give me this role at a full fee, I'm going to dive in and fill this role for you. I know now they're actually still covering it internally. They haven't found anyone. I'm here. If you're happy to pay a fee. I'll find you the people and do the work. So next week's newsletter. Interesting one. I'll be exploring why remote treasury roles often fail, but how to fix that? What you should do. Stay tuned for the insights need to recruit someone? I'm here to help. If you're looking for a role, I'm here to help. It's a bit busy, but do reach out to us anytime. Treasuryrecruitment.com thanks until next week and see some other links in the newsletter below.
