This is a YouTube video titled "Mikes takeaways about the world of remote and hybrid work" containing a monologue by Mike Richards recorded in November 2023. Mike discusses the importance of communication and connection in remote and hybrid work environments, sharing insights from his experience working remotely and client practices during lockdown.
And I've got all the Cs. The key one there for me were probably the two. The communication connection, you know, it's, you know, I work in the shed, you know, I work remotely from, you know, the home office and I connect over zoom and I chat. There's nothing better than meeting a team. And you say about hybrid and, oh, having a step into the office. Yeah. But then, you know, I had clients during lockdown who they were doing virtual water cooling moments where they would get on the zoom, like 10 o' clock on a Monday and there was half an hour when they weren't allowed to talk about work. Now, there wasn't much going on at the weekend, but a couple of the clients were just saying, well, yeah, what did you do? Well, we went for a walk. We did this. They got to know people. They got to know people about sports and communication and everything else that's key because if you don't communicate, your team will leave. I know, I talk to them. You know, they are leaving. They are voting with their feet. Unless you communicate, unless you engage with them, then they will leave.
