Mike Richards describes a senior treasury manager role at Amcor, the global packaging company. The position handles treasury operations across the Americas, managing cash flow, banking relationships, and financial risk for one of the world's largest packaging firms.
Hello, it's Mike Richards here from the treasury recruitment company. I want to talk about this great role with Amcor, as you can see here, senior treasury manager for the Americas. Now who are Amcor? Amcor are a global leader in developing and producing responsible packaging solutions. So for food, beverages, pharmaceutical, medical, personal care and other products as well. In 2022, 44,000 people worked there, $15 billion in annual sales. So real market leader and they spanned 220 locations in 43 countries. Amazing. So you want to be the senior treasury manager there, right? Okay. What are you going to do now? I'm not just going to read through everything that's over there. Cash management within this role you're really going to get deeply involved in managing the cash flows. It's a vital part of this position. You'll also get involved in foreign exchange ad hoc basis in foreign exchange management which is going to add variety to the role as well. It's hybrid as you can see below down there. So they embrace, if you like in office and remote work. It's what everybody's talking about in 2024 and going forward. So usually three days a week in the office, but hybrid as well. Mentorship. Now you're going to actually be guiding and developing a couple of direct reports. Well in fact one direct report and one indirect report and coaching them so bringing them up as well. They're looking for someone that's going to look to do improvements. So continuous improvement within the what is a structured environment but not someone that's always coming in saying right, this is solution straight away, it's consultative. You're going to work with your colleagues, with your peers, with different people within the group as well. Now part of that will be maybe if you're bilingual because a lot of this will focus on North America but also South America Latam as well. So if you've got language skills, that's going to be great and really helping with what is a global team, as I said, also stakeholder management. It's not just doing tasks, it's also guiding other members of the team internally, working around the group and engaging with people and they want people that maybe have viewers experience that have already, you know, become managers maybe, but they're wanting to develop because this is succession planning as well. So they want to bring someone that is a talent that is going to develop. They're also going to have some technical skills. So there's going to be working with their treasury system reval using that and not just someone that you know is plugging in the numbers, but someone that has an understanding of trading and actually integrating that within the Treasury. Now, again, it's something and someone, if you like, that's going to be asking the why and the how rather than just saying, right, do it this way. It's actually working around with your group. So it's very collaborative. Teamwork is a key thing. When I've been talking to the team there, that's what they kept talking about. We collaborate, we work as a team, we solve problems together. There's lots of that working and again, succession. This is what they want to do.
