Mike Richards shares plans for the Treasury Career Corner podcast, including upcoming live events, interviews with treasury professionals, and new shows on careers, technology, recruitment, and salaries.
So thank you for joining me on this short special feature episode for the podcast. That's so much exciting news to share with you guys, that I was going to put it all in the main show but decided we didn't have enough space. And as you know, in the main podcast, I like to keep the focus on the guests rather than on us. But don't worry, we've got some exciting news to share, so please stay tuned. So, as I said at the top of the show, we have some very exciting plans in the pipeline for 2019, but as we get into it, I want to say how pleased I am that you guys are really enjoying the show. Since we launched the podcast in October 2018, it's been downloaded nearly 5,000 times. It's a bit crazy. I thought we'd be doing well if we hit a thousand in the first year. So you like it? Thank you very much. I'm glad you are enjoying it. And what next? I hear you say, well, I would hear you say, but this is a podcast and I'm the only one sitting in this room. So anyway, I can imagine you saying it when you're listening to it in the car or wherever you might consume your podcast. Anyway, moving on. Well, we're going to keep the Tuesday interview shows pretty much as they are, as you keep telling me how much you enjoy hearing about how other treasury professionals have achieved success within their treasury careers. So we're going to be recording some separate special edition shows. The first of these will be coming out as a result of our exciting new concept, or idea, as it were, the Treasury Career Corner Live coming to a city near you soon. The first one of these is actually happening this week. We'll be live on stage in London, where I'll actually be interviewing three treasurers about their careers in front of a live audience of over 80 treasury professionals who want to hear firsthand about how these treasury professionals have achieved their career success. We then take the show on the road. We'll be going first to Luxembourg at the end of April, then onward to Chicago and New York in May, Then we're coming back to London in September, then onward to Euro Finance in Copenhagen, before finishing the tour at the AFP conference in Boston in October. Now, if we weren't busy enough with all that stuff, we're going to be doing some other special shows and these are going to be recorded and published over the next couple of months. There'll be live recordings of all of the Treasury Career Corner live shows, so you get to hear from three treasury professionals all in one show. There's going to be obviously an episode for each location. London, Luxembourg, Chicago, New York, Copenhagen and Boston. And, yeah, it's all free. Who would have believed it? Then we've got the feature shows. I'm going to do shows about future treasury leaders talking to some young treasury talent and why they chose treasury as a career path and where they see it taking them and themselves in the future. Then I'm going to be looking at what do treasury professionals think about in terms of treasury technology and it, Where's IT heading? Because obviously, that's it. We read all the press that comes out. Cyberdyne, what I got Skynet, they're replacing us. That's it. AI robots are taking over. But is all this true or are these technologies simply there to help you guys complete the repetitive task quicker and more efficiently than ever before? Increase, you know, under an increasing workload? Listen to the show and see what you think. Then we move on to Project Treasury. What difference can you or do you make? In this show, we're going to be interviewing three or four treasury professionals who have worked or previously worked in the interim treasury arena. I asked them about how they fitted in, how they made a difference, how they measured their contribution and levels of success, what were the results they were aiming for and did they achieve them. Then, in a separate show allied to that, I interview some of the partners from some of the treasury consultancy firms about their different approaches, if you will, how they measure themselves and why they do their roles and what results they aim to give their clients. Some of those consultancy firms and individuals can then compare and contrast the two areas and the ideas of working with each other as well. So we'll explore that a little bit more. We then also move on to. To do some shows where we talk about what we have been seeing in the treasury recruitment markets globally and the different regional markets. We'll be doing shows about the UK market that'll feature our very own Danielle Penfold, our UK consultant. We've then got the European and international market, so we'll explore a little bit wider and what's happening. Then we're going to move across the Atlantic to the US market, featuring our very own Craig Martin. And then we've got the treasury market at the executive level, featuring. Yeah, that's right, yours truly. Sorry, I know, but don't worry, I will get Laura White, our ops director, to ask me some tough questions to maybe keep it interesting and bouncing along. Then also, we've got published our latest global treasury salary survey. That's being released in the next few weeks. And I'll be exploring that in some greater detail, talking about some of its findings and why we go through. Yeah. Immense pain and hassle by doing the survey itself. Hope that's enough news for you guys. I look forward to working with you guys throughout 2019 and beyond. And I'll see you on the main show. So thanks very much.
