Tim Muindi shares how taking on a new role in corporate finance and treasury expanded his experience and opened unexpected career opportunities. He traces his path through the industry, showing how embracing unfamiliar challenges led to professional growth.
Probably two years after they came back and said, hey, by the way, there's a new role in the headquarters in corporate finance. Part of corporate finance was also in treasury and said, would you like the role? And I was like, no, I'm not interested in moving. And I recall a conversation with my dad, I said, hey, they offered me this role, but I don't want to take it. And he asked me why, and I really did not have a good reason. I said, you should go take it. And I said, okay. So came back, moved down to Palo Alto and completely got a new experience in a whole different area of Treasury. But that actually opened a lot of doors for me, not only from a finance perspective, but also from a business development perspective. But the great thing was the treasurer and the assistant treasurer actually went Powell. So a lot of meetings around the credit, around leasing, and also we also had the pension piece. And I know what they were talking about, but it was just being in the room and just listening and getting a better understanding of what are they working on, what are some of the discussions being had. Those conversations proved to be really helpful because now I had that context and those were pretty good foundation for me down the road.
