In this video, Mike Richards reviews the 2025 treasury recruitment market, describing a severe downturn caused by tariffs, trade wars, and global uncertainty, but notes early signs of recovery as senior treasury roles begin to reopen and turnover increases across C‑suite positions. He urges treasurers to engage with his firm for recruitment opportunities, emphasizing the domino effect of promotions and vacancies. Richards then announces the expansion of his in‑person roundtable events, aiming to grow attendance from 24‑36 participants to 40‑60 treasurers in London and New York. To support less‑senior professionals, he introduces new "Ask the Treasurer" peer‑group sessions (5‑6 PM) for Treasury Assistants through Senior Treasury Managers, featuring a rotating panel of three experienced treasurers who will answer career‑development questions. Two confirmed London panelists are Tanya Holden (Acrishaw) and Louise Woodruff (Hastings Insurance), with a third to be announced. The sessions conclude with networking drinks, and Richards invites all treasury professionals, regardless of experience, to sign up via provided links.

Our newsletter. We talked about what last year was like in the recruitment market. 2025 was horrible. Tariffs, trade wars, uncertainty. It's carried on a little bit with recent events, global events, and across the US, uncertainty, everything. So treasury professionals like you watching this now decided not to move. You kept your heads down. That's right. Your risk, I say not risk averse, you're risk aware. You're thinking, hang on, I'm going to wait till everything settles down. But when we did get some strong positions, some great treasury roles, both Katie and I were shocked. We were inundated with response. We got great people for them, but they weren't, it wasn't just random people saying, oh, I want to be in treasury. These were great treasurers like you guys watching this now. The time that you guys are out there and you're ready to move. So when we do get roles or you're looking to recruit, come to us because the market is starting to open up, there are more conversations happening, there's more senior movement. I even spoke to a client today. They were talking about how all of their C-suite has all changed. COO, CEO, CFO. Never know what's going to happen in Treasury as well. As that turnover happens now, at the moment they won't move, but this is happening in other companies. It's not just isolated to them. There is turnover happening. And with that turnover and churn, there will be some Treasury positions coming up. And throughout things. So one move, as we said on the newsletter, leads to another. Promotions will happen. Gaps will open up. Domino effect starts. Fantastic. Let's give a short— our events, we're expanding them. New York was incredible. 36 treasurers came to our roundtables. We had 24 in London before in October. Wow. So what we're gonna do is we are gonna expand them even more. We want to have more than 40, maybe 50 treasurers. We've got space for it now. At our London event in June, and we're gonna do the same working closely with the AFP in the US to expand our New York event as well. 36 treasurers last time. Let's get it up to 60, shall we? But when I was on the plane on the way back, I had a really good thought. I think this is fantastic for treasurers, and if you're watching this and you're a treasury analyst and Mike, does it apply to me? Come on, mate. It doesn't. You're right. You are not there on the round table, so we're helping you now. We are, and I'm thrilled to announce, doing our Ask the Treasurer sessions. These will run between 5 till 6 PM. We're gonna run them in both London and then in New York. Peer group sessions targeted towards you if you are, say, 6 months experience, say up to 10 years. So Treasury Assistant up to Treasury Manager, Senior Treasury Manager. And you are going to get to quiz 3 treasurers about their treasury careers for 1 hour. And what's going to happen, they're going to go round the room. We're going to have seated, seated areas and they're going to go round the circles. And these 3 treasurers, and I'm thrilled to announce 2 of them for London, Tanya Holden from Acrishaw and Louise Woodruff from Hastings Insurance. They're going to be 2 of the panel. I've got the 3rd one. We're just at the final discussion, so I'll announce that in the next week or so. And you're gonna get to quiz them. What did they do in their treasury careers? How did they progress? What, what things should they have done to focus their career on what actually matters? And actually they're gonna help you and offer you some really good advice, and you're gonna get to do that. And then you're gonna get to sit in the panel and then you'll do networking drinks. So come along, whether you've got 6 months experience or 30 years, come to our roundtables. It's gonna be amazing. So sign up. I'll put the links below. Thanks very much for this week. See you soon.
