Foreign. So welcome to this week's Treasury Career Corner podcast where I normally talk to treasurers about their careers, how they've got on and developed and everything else. This old roundup if you like. So a feature podcast where I talk about what we've done on the show over the past month and what's coming up and some of the things that are also happening around the world of treasury and treasury recruitment. This month we've had a Barish Gold Cap from Shiseycam. We've had Chris Corner, Adam Richford and Dennis Morais Barash. It was a new podcast with him, Chris. It was actually a catch up. When I last spoke to him he'd been at Thomas Cook and then more recently he's got a role with KingFisher in the UK. So really good to catch up with Chris. There was another repeated one when I caught up with Adam Richford from Renewing after almost four years or so. And a few things have happened. Obviously that was episode two, five, four and then more recently with Dennis Morais from Global treasury at GameStop. So it's lovely to chat to him, talking about interesting times for the company. I want to make sure that you guys are listening to the show, enjoying it, so if you've got feedback, please let me know. And most importantly, if you would like to be a guest, I'd love to have you on the show. If you don't feel maybe you're experienced enough, but maybe your boss is or someone that is, maybe you can suggest them as well. Love to hear and love to get some other good guests on the show, please let us know or go on the website. There's a box where you can click and do it there. We'll put the actual link to that in the show notes if you like. So coming up this month as we head into March, we've got the lovely Roger Aguilar, now the treasurer, EasyCorp. We've got me again being featured by Richard Bostock. We're catching up. He actually spoke to me way back in the early days of the podcast about three years ago. But we're bringing up with about Hybrid Working, all the new innovations that are happening with his company and everything else. Then we've got Dennis Balju from Vanderlinda or Vanderlanda, and Kai Bramer as well from Autodoc. So those are great shows and everything else. So that's really nice as well. And then we got some great content. Now it's all free. I know you're amazed by it and they said, wow, this is Amazing content and everything else. But we have a gentleman's agreement, if you like, just like they do. I listen to a podcast called My First Million and they have a gentleman's agreement on that. And what they say is that you will subscribe. We can have a gentle Men's Gentle Ladies agreement. I don't know, whatever. If you listen to the show, we need you to subscribe. Why? Because that then gets us in more desks of treasury professionals and it's really good content. I really enjoy doing it. But we want to grow the show. So top right hand corner of your itunes, on your phone or wherever, click subscribe. Very difficult, takes all of. There you go, you press subscribe, it's done and then each and every week it'll update as soon as you get a new show and if you're there, maybe give us a little review. Five stars, I don't mind three or four. Yeah, we'll be happy with whatever. And now what else do we got coming up? Got some amazing future guests. We've got some conferences and webinars in February and upcoming we've got the Treasury Career Corner live in London on Thursday 13th April. We'll put a sign up link in the show. Notes. If only I had two amazing speakers to join me live on stage, who were to talk about the world of treasury, talk about hybrid working, talk about how they've developed their careers, how they've taken us to the next level. If only we had someone who had worked in the uk, then worked across in the US and came back and was the group treasurer for a number of different companies. But more recently for. That's lovely. Yeah, We've got Tanya Holden, she's come and join us on the show. And then we've got Matt Norris, who I've known for many years. Matt's great, actually, from his days at Hewlett Packard, then he was a Petro fac and more recently he's. And now he's the group treasurer of Trillium Float. He's going to be on the show, he's going to be live on the stage. We're going to talk about their careers with both Matt and Tanya. We did it last time, we had over 100 people in the room. It's incredible actually, in the city, even though it's a rainy night, we've got everyone there. It's really good and it's do the show. We talk for about an hour from other careers, get some career tips if you like. 13 April. I know it's Around Easter time, but we've managed to slot it between a lot of the bank holidays. So please do come along. It'll be great to see you there and there is free booze afterwards. Yeah, there you go. I'm there for the free booze. Look in your diary. It'd be great to see you. In other news, coming to the Windy City Summit, speaking on the first day, Tuesday, Wednesday, I'm on the first morning. Goodness, strong coffee that morning and then 11 o' clock, I'm on stage talking about networking, personal branding, how you need to use both to achieve success in your treasury career. And anyone that's seen me live on stage, I talk about this stuff now because it's essential. It used to be when I was starting my treasury career, it was a nice to have, if you like, but now you've got to have a personal brand, you've got to have a LinkedIn profile. If you don't, it's a career, it's a career threat if you like, because you're letting somebody else manage your career. If you like, manage your personal brand, you've got to take control of that. So that's one of the things you have to do. Love Chicago, love coming out there. Looking forward to Windy City Summit in May. Then also been asked by the AFP in America to do a session about achieving career success through effective networking and having a strong personal brand. Now, I did this at the AFP conference in Philadelphia with the amazing Leanne Perkins from Specialized Bikes and Joel Campbell from Trevi Pay, where they're going to join me again. We're going to do it as a virtual session. It was one of the top sessions. I got an email from the AFP and they were like, you did it really well. Top session. I was like, yeah, they're just trying to get me to sign up for San Diego, which I have done actually. So looking forward to meeting all of you guys out there, but in actual fact, we're going to do the webinar. So, yeah, looking forward to that. That's on Wednesday, the 10th of May. We'll put another sign up link in the show notes so you get the information about it as well. We also talk with Joel about why he has to manage his personal brand. Great example. He moved from being the treasurer in his previous company to now the CFO at trevipay. He didn't plan it, he wasn't looking for a job. But it was because of his effective personal brand and his network. They reached out and he's now the CFO he's also on the AFP committee. That's what it does. It helps. He's a great guy. So you get to hear from Joel and also Leanne Perkins, she's amazing. Lovely lady. So looking forward to doing that. Well, then later on the year, put my name down to speak at Treasury New York Cash Exchange, as it used to be called. There was T money, Treasury Management association of New York, that's New York in September. And then after that, rapidly heading off to Euro Finance in Barcelona because, yeah, it's going to be a busy year. And then finishing off with AFP in San Diego. So looking forward to. That's going to be good as well. And then we've got some other. A few other trips planned as well. I was actually asked as well. People were saying, Mike, enjoyed your last podcast and what you found particularly useful. Let's talk about the state of the market, shall we? So let's jump into that. The UK has been busy, but I think we've said we have seen a bit of a slowdown, but that's because people are delaying, if you like, or just holding on with their career moves, but because they're waiting for bonuses. This is bonus season and we're getting that also in our US market, some Europe as well, so it's not going to affect. But UK in particular, a lot of people are just waiting. I think there's also, when I'm talking to people, they're starting to come back into the office. Not five days a week, but they're coming in one, two, maybe three days a week now. And actually that's what we're also seeing. That's. Then some people say, I don't want to come back in three days and I'm the treasurer, so we're starting to see some moves. I know Craig and I, we've just been working. We just got a really good treasurer position. Look for that on our website with an asset manager with a client. We're also recruiting for one of our clients in Philadelphia, a hedging consultant role. So please put your name down for that. That's in the us and our salary survey. Oh, my goodness, we've just hit 1087, people. If you haven't done it, please go on there, go to treasurysalary.com as soon as you take part and we confirm you're a Treasury professional, you get a free quarterly salary survey. And what about the next quarter? Well, you get it again, you get another one and the following quarter, another one. So basically, once you sign up, we just will keep in touch with you on a relatively regular basis every six months or so. Make sure your salary's up to date and you constantly get access to this amazing salary survey. So looking forward to that. That's really good. Europe and let's just cover that briefly. I know Katie's been very busy. She's been working with Chanel, doing some stuff up in the Nordics with Ostrom and then Holly and I will be very busy across Texas. We've got a couple of remote roles coming through as well. There's a part time role actually, but it's going to be remote working as well. And also some roles coming through in Chicago. So looking forward to seeing people face to face later on in the year. But we again do the salary survey. What we are finding is that it's really interesting actually, some of the numbers that are coming out of it. So the Q2 numbers for the salary survey or Q1, actually the average treasury analyst in the UK is getting on average £46,022. In Europe it's €55,000 1 55, 193. But in the US, yeah, it jumps up 83,418. Wow. If only you could get access to the ranges of these numbers. If only you could have real numbers. One of our rivals has just done their salary survey and it's not a salary survey. It's just annoying. The reason for that, it's actually about a lot of the things roles advertise salaries. Now a lot of the time people don't advertise their salaries and they just guess. So they've used a load of guesswork. I would say educated, I'm going to say uneducated guesswork and say, yeah, this is our salary survey. These are roles they're being advertised at. But I'd look at some of these and it says treasurer salary, 80,000 to 280,000. That's not a salary range, that's just ridiculous. But it's getting busier. As I say, everyone here is doing really well. Craig and Sophie, contact them for the UK markets. Contact Katie for Europe if you're looking for a role. We're going to continue to develop the salary survey as we grow it. In the U.S. for instance, we're going to head, we're going to do the sort of Midwest, the East coast, the West Coast, Gulf coast and look at all the different areas there. To split it out as well, to give you even more. I say value for money, but it doesn't cost you anything. All it takes is two minutes is go to treasurysalary.com take part and you've got an amazing salary set there. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the podcast. Thanks for this solo episode and look forward to seeing you all at a conference very soon. All right, thanks very much.
Hello, it's Mike here again. I hope you enjoyed this week's show. If you did, then maybe you want to follow the show or subscribe, depending on where you listen, whether that's itunes, Spotify, or another great place to listen to the show from. It's totally free and means that you'll be the first to see each and every week when we release a new show. And maybe whilst you're there, you could even leave a quick review. Reviews and ratings are among the most important metrics for a podcast to effectively rank, and as you can probably appreciate, the podcast is a lot of hard work to produce every week. It'd be amazing. Just take, say, 20 seconds, leave a quick review of my amazing guests and their great career stories.
We'd really appreciate it.
Thanks very much and I can't wait to see you soon.
Sam.
