This is a YouTube video titled "Why Don’t We Advertise All of Our Treasury Roles?" featuring Mike Richards from a treasury recruitment company. In this video, Mike Richards discusses challenges and best practices in recruiting treasurers, emphasizing the importance of updating job descriptions and explaining why many treasury roles are recruited confidentially without public advertisements. The content is a monologue aimed at CFOs and treasurers seeking recruitment advice, recorded in September 2020.
Hello, everyone. Mike Richards from the treasury recruitment company here. This week we're talking about recruiting your next treasurer. CFO say to me, mike, our current treasurer does a great job, but we want to improve, enhance, grow, develop and move on to the next level with this person and the people in the team. Brilliant. I'm on boarder, I love this. But then when I ask them for the job description of this new enhanced treasurer, if you like, they just lean down to the bottom drawer, grab it from their current. About the job description for their current treasurer, who's leaving after, say, 10 years in the job, cross out the date, hand it back to me. So I say, look, you just want a carbon copy of what you've just had. Now, I know that CFOs are under great pressure, but please just stand back, take a moment, write down what the basic skills are required and. But what are the growth areas or potential areas to develop? Maybe in technology, for instance. We know you want an immediate solution, but what's going to be the Runway for the new treasurer that comes in? What's their flight path, if you like? I often get asked, do you actually recruit treasurers, Mike? I said, well, yeah. Why? They say, well, it's because we don't see that many advertisers on your website. And you're right, you know, they don't get advertised all the time on there. Why? Because I'm not allowed to. And it frustrates the heck out of me. Past few years, I've recruited on a confidential basis, treasurers for renewee footsie 250 senior plc. And we're currently engaged on another confidential search for one of our clients. But we're not allowed to put their details or names or any of their details of the role on the website. Why? Internal sensitivities, because it's a confidential move, external shift in the markets, plans are changing, things like that sometimes. Also, clients say they don't want to be inundated with other recruiters. I can understand that. So we provide a confidential service of recruiting those treasurers. So if you're a CFO who needs some advice about recruiting a new treasurer or treasurer wanting to recruit for the team, then just give us a call. We're very happy to offer our confidential advice and speak soon. Many thanks.
