This is a YouTube video titled "Why You Need to Attract a Treasurer to Work for You!" containing a monologue by Mike Richards recorded in November 2020. In this talk, Mike Richards advises CFOs on recruiting visionary treasurers by redefining job roles, attracting talent proactively, and mentoring future leaders in treasury departments.
Foreign don't take the path of least resistance. Because many CFOs say to me, I want to recruit a new treasurer. Mike. I want a visionary. I want somebody who's going to embrace that technology and improve things. Brilliant, I say. Then they reach down their bottom drawer, bring out the job description from five years ago, cross out the dates, new date and hand it back to me. Well, that's not exactly visionary, is it? So what we want to say is if you want something new, then go for it. Take a blank piece of paper and decide what you want your, you, your Treasury Department and your treasurer to look like and then decide. Closing piece of advice for CFOs when they're recruiting treasurers and when you think about this, remember guys, it's no longer a push. Model treasurers don't need to come to you. They're not beating a path to your door saying, I want your job, I want your job. The world has changed. You need to attract them to come and work for your company. You need to know what makes your company different and tell them what makes you as a CFO different. Tell them and how are you going to inspire and help your treasurer's career develop? Because that's what they're coming to you for. They want, they want, you know, their careers to be enhanced by joining you. That's one of the key things. And are you going to mentor this new treasurer and help them to get to take over your new job one day? You need to think about all of these factors before someone will even join you. If you can make an amazing proposition, come and join your company. Brilliant. Then you're going to be able to recruit the treasury you really need. Many thanks, Sa.
