You seem to be everywhere…

Mike Richards is traveling to Dallas, the West Coast, Dublin, Amsterdam, and London over six weeks to meet treasury professionals in person. He's expanding London round tables from 24 to over 40 treasurers and launching an "Ask the Treasurer" segment with Stuart Case, Louise Woodruff, and Tanya Holden to mentor junior analysts.

I've had people in the past say to me, oh, you seem to travel everywhere. I do. And in actual fact, it reminded me of a conversation I had with a guy called Jim, who's going to be one of our speakers at our Chicago event a few years ago now. And I said, Jim, he said, Mike, you're everywhere. I said, no, Jim, I'm not everywhere. I'm everywhere you are. And this is why it matters, because I think this is why it matters to you guys. If you want to build your treasury careers you can't just do it from sitting in your corner office. You have to be out there meeting people. Now for me, I want to meet all my clients and candidates, so over the next 6 weeks, if you like, I'm going everywhere from Dallas, West Coast, Dublin, Amsterdam, London, the lot. And after the third airline meal, you just get a bit bored of it, to be honest. But I'm actually doing that because that's where the real conversations happen for me. If I'm just relying on LinkedIn, doing videos like this, and that was all I was going to do, you're missing out. That's the same for you as a treasury professional, and this is why it matters. Because I actually, when I was writing this script earlier, I was thinking, yeah, but that's all very well for you, Mike, but what about you if you're a treasury professional? So what? I actually, one of my rivals, they talked about networking the other day and they said, oh, I'm networking everywhere, I'm doing all this. I thought, you're not. You'd actually told me recently you hadn't met a person face to face in 4 months. So how does this reflect on you as a treasury professional? You need to get out there. We've got our events coming up, come to them. And yeah, that's a little bit of a sales pitch for that, is it? No, you get so much more by meeting other treasury professionals. They're real conversations face to face, so actually you're going to get to exchange your own views with them. I was just talking to a treasurer a moment ago, they said there's nothing like it, Mike, when actually We get to meet people, we get to actually exchange our views, and actually we facilitated this now by doing our round tables. So in London, we're going to be doing round tables. We did have 24 last November. We're going to have— actually, we're scaling up. We're going to have 40+ treasurers in a room between 3 and 6 PM before we do our panel session in June. And that was fantastic. So we're doing that one. It's going to be a great session. Come along if you're a treasurer. You get to exchange your views with 30, 40 other treasurers. It'll be amazing. Then you get the panel. Also, what are we doing for you junior guys? You're saying, well, this is great, Mike, but the first 20 minutes, if someone talks about they've done a $3 billion deal, pound deal, or whatever it might be, that doesn't apply to me. Don't worry, I said. We're now going to do our Ask the Treasurer session. This is, and I'm thrilled to announce, we're going to have Stuart Case, Treasurer of Sky. We're going to have Louise Woodruff, one of our main speakers as well. Be amazing with Louise, Treasurer of Hastings Insurance, and Tanya Holden from Accrasure Insurance. And they're going to go around the room with any Treasury analysts and managers between 5 and 6 PM in the same, in the conference room, if you like, and actually on round circles and peer groups. And they're going to give you advice. So if you're a Treasury analyst and say, oh, what choice, what do I do next? Do I do some study? Do I do this? What should I do? This is what you have to do. You can ask some treasurers. Ask the treasurer of Sky, treasurer of Hastings, treasurer of Accrashore Insurance. There you go. You're welcome. This is what I'm talking about. Get out of your corner office, come and join us, and you can come and join the other events, as I say. So I'll see you in Dallas next week, get on the plane tomorrow. Couple of weeks later on the West Coast, meet a load more treasurers. And as I said in the newsletter, I'm going to get to meet 2,000 of you 2,000 over the next month and a half. And that's why I'm doing it, because it's going to help me help your treasure careers. Thanks very much.
