For the first time in decades, lifespan is actually decreasing. Yeah, we're actually dying younger. And so what we're doing isn't working. And so this has got me very passionate about really changing the way we approach men's health. When I put all this newfound knowledge together, suddenly I found this whole new world of medicine that no one ever taught us in medical school. And so armed with this knowledge, I was able to really transform my own health and feel great again. I lost weight, I regained my energy and my focus and you know, felt like a man again.
When you've got the data and, and you have more data now, you get that high performer, professional athlete level focus. So talk a little bit about the integration because that is what makes you truly unique.
The most common question I guess is, doc, what the hell do I eat? What am I supposed to eat when? And that's where my functional medicine trained coaches, they've gone through special certification to be able to look at the advanced testing and tell you exactly what you should eat, what you should not eat, and when. How can you improve sleep quality? How can you put together a fitness program that works for you, that we can actually track and measure and see that is working.
Hi, welcome to Capability amplifier. This is Dr. Gapin from the Gapin Institute. I am so excited to be with you today because ever since I had cancer 12 years ago, I've been a huge fan of peak performance health optimization, hormones, peptides, nutrition, and now real time data for monitoring every aspect of my health, including I'm wearing a continuous blood glucose monitor right now, I've got an OURA ring and I've been a peptide and hormone user for years with massive investments to my health, longevity and well being. And with everyone I work with and talk to, I highly recommend that they find someone that they can work with and trust because it makes such a huge difference. In fact, people who begin by following a process of number one, deep diagnostics that include blood panels, genetics, gut and food sensitivities, and then have a team review view all these results, often find things they don't expect that are affecting them cognitively, energetically and in their sleep. And then the problem is there's so much information, so much quackery, so much hype, it's almost impossible to get through and find out what's actually real. So today I brought in Dr. Tracy Gapin from the Gapin Institute who does the most extensive panels I've ever seen to date. He's gonna share how to reach your peak performance. Now he spent 25 years as a board certified urologist and he's completely reinvented himself. Then he went back to school to study for 12 years. He has some incredibly exciting things to share with you today beyond the test that include real time data monitoring and a fully integrated approach. It's peak performance and longevity that I haven't seen packaged like this before all in one place. So, doc, it's great to be with you today. I've been looking forward to this and we've been having so much fun the past few days together.
Absolutely. So much. Glad to be with you today.
All right, awesome. So let's begin with. I know there's something that you shared with me that I just learned today and that was you did your own vasectomy. So I have to start literally with a. I don't know how to be less crude than this, a dick joke. But tell me about your backstory. You'll have to forgive me for that. I just couldn't help myself.
Oh, good.
Yeah. All right, so tell us about it.
Yeah. So you know, my wife and I had two kids and we had a boy and a girl. And we knew we were done after, after that. And so it was time for me to get snipped. And I was in a group of four other urologists and my wife expected me to go to one of my partners. Well, that was my superpower. It would take me eight minutes to do a vasectomy and it'd take them like an hour. And I don't know what they're doing in there.
What?
And so I'm like, there's no one who's going to do it but me. And so I had my nurse set up a table for me, a procedure table. And she was out in the hall and I told her I yell if there's any problems. And I just sat on the edge of an exam table and took care of business. Took care of it eight minutes later. Yeah.
I'll tell you what, that's the first time. And I was like, okay, I don't know. I have to bring it up.
So let's get serious for a moment. You've been a real doctor, I think, moving from being a real doctor, real urologist to doing longevity, peak performance.
Why'd you do it? What was your experience as a doc? Because you've done a lot of big stuff. You would have had a great.
Easily seven figure a year income without a ton of risk for the rest of your life if you chose to do so. But you chose not to.
Yeah, it was about halfway through my urology career when I hit a wall and I woke up one day and I was suddenly 30 pounds overweight. Felt like crap. I was stressed out, I was not taking care of myself, I wasn't sleeping, and I was really an unhappy person. And so I went to see this local concierge doc, friend of mine, colleague, for my first physical ever. And it was a pretty terrifying experience when I became suddenly aware of my own mortality. And I had a lot of health issues. But what was really concerning was he didn't have any answers for me and he just told me to lose weight, exercise, and if I didn't get better, he'd put me on a statin.
Nice.
A lot of people have heard that, right?
Yeah, yeah.
And so I knew that wasn't the answer, but I didn't really, you know, as a men's health expert, I suddenly had to admit humbly that I didn't have the answer myself. And so that got me to start studying. And it started with an epigenetics course, a course that taught me, how do you individualize personalized lifestyle health recommendations? How do I eat properly? How do I lose weight? How do I regain my energy and focus and feel like a man again? And I started studying peptides, started studying hormones. How do you do hormones the right way? And what's amazing is you go through medical school, you go through surgical residency and six years of urology training, they don't teach you anything about hormones. And so I went through training and learned how to do hormones the right way. I went through functional medicine training, I went through longevity certification programs. And when I put all this newfound knowledge together, suddenly I found this whole new world of medicine that no one ever taught us in medical school. And so armed with this knowledge, I was able to really transform my own health and feel great again. I lost. We regained my energy and my focus and felt like a man again. And I suddenly had this new lease on life without taking a statin. And so I started sharing this approach that I went through with my patients in my urology practice. And they had great results as well. Suddenly I had to come face to face with the real reality of the situation, and that is that our insurance and big pharma controlled world of disease care medicine is failing. Our healthcare system is not sustainable. It's not working. You know, chronic disease at an all time high, obesity is worsening. Over three quarters of us are either overweight or obese.
You've seen it like in the past five years. I was telling you, I'm in one of the most beautiful, thin parts of the country in downtown La Jolla. And it used to be a lot thinner less than five years ago. So totally epidemic.
Everywhere you go, there's chronic disease, there's obesity, there's illness, and it's getting worse. You know, for the first time in decades, lifespan is actually decreasing. Yeah, we're actually dying younger. And so what we're doing isn't working. And so this has got me very passionate about really changing the way we approach men's health. Now I have a personal background as well, where I had a very troubled childhood, to say the least. And now that I have two amazing little kids, that is my why that's everything to me. And now without my health, I couldn't show up every day. I couldn't be the present and engaged father that I am. I couldn't be the husband that I am. I couldn't be the leader that I am. And that's really become my mission is how do I transform men's health to focus on what matters, to help men really regain control of their health?
Good. Very good. And one of the reasons I wanted to spend a little extra time on this is featuring the fact you're a real board certified md. And I know after spending a lot of time in the longevity space that often comes up, it's like, okay, can I trust this person? What kind of background do they have? And I want to illustrate one other thing, because you launched robotic surgery program, MRI targeted prostate. Like, you know, cancer. You know, let's just put it this way, you know, the most intimate details of men's health, period. But at least talk briefly about that before we move on to the meat of this.
Yeah.
God, I can't believe I just did that. Yeah, sorry. Sorry, doc.
I've heard it all.
I know you have.
So even going back to my days in medical school, I really had a passion for men's health, specifically prostate cancer. And I always consider myself a pioneer on the leading edge of medicine and cutting edge technology. And so I was very focused on prostate cancer treatment. I launched the robotic surgery program at our local hospital, Sarasota Memorial. I launched the MRI guided targeted biopsy program there as well. And then hifu, which is a non invasive, minimally invasive treatment for prostate cancer. I launched that program in Sarasota as well. And I love to always be thinking ahead and how can I stay ahead of the game? How can I stay ahead of our failing healthcare system? And so that's really where my mindset has always been. And now this transition into longevity and men's health and performance coming from a very different angle is just a natural transition for me.
Yep.
Yeah, that's good.
Very good. So next one that I have is something that really grabbed me in the first presentation I ever saw you make is this picture of Jeff Bezos and Tom Brady. But the way to frame today's conversation is really about billionaire and celebrity medicine and what's available to the highest performing athletes. It's now available to ordinary people like us. It's much more affordable, and it operates outside of traditional insurance care. And so you coming from a traditional medical world, moving into this, spending all your attention. Let's start with the Jeff Bezos to a story.
Yeah. So you look at guys like Tom Brady, you look at guys like Jeff Bezos, and you see this incredible transformation that they've both experienced. And you don't get that from traditional healthcare system. You don't get that from just taking a drug to treat a problem. You experience that transformation when you are proactive, when you are intentional, when you are taking advantage of all the cutting edge tools that we have around us.
Which means, like, let's go through what they have and how you've used that as a model for providing basically professional athletes level performance and tools.
Absolutely. You know, one of the first things that you have to do is you have to find your blind spots. You have to know what are the issues that are lurking under the surface, waiting to cause problems, I like to say. And that takes advanced diagnostics. And, you know, our traditional healthcare system runs you through a few labs, it's missing a lot of stuff, it's barely scratching the surface.
And you're right now doing on average, like when you do your front end lab work, how many, what's. How many lab markers, how many genetic markers?
Yeah. So we look at over 500 different markers, different biomarkers, when we work with high performers, because everyone's different. And I like to say one size fails all in that what's right for one person is wrong for the next. And we have to first of all find out what you need. And for every client that's different.
Yeah. Okay, good. And then talk a little bit about the genetics because one of the things that blew me away and I was working on the visuals for this, are all of the different tests. And I'll actually put it on screen for anyone who's watching the video, all the different reports that you're running, but you go really, really, really deep.
Yeah. You know, there are companies out there who are Selling genetic tests with four genes. We look at over 760,000 genes. And what this enables us to do is to take a very personalized approach when it comes to recommendations. What should I eat? What should I not eat? What supplements are right for me? How do I improve the quality of my sleep? How do I improve my athletic performance? What hormones are right for me? You know, this science has been around for over 20 years. The problem is that most doctors are way behind the science and this information, these tools are available to us now. And anyone who's not using genetics. When you're giving lifestyle recommendations, when you're, you know, taking care of high performers, you're missing a big part of the picture.
Yep. And one of the things that you've got a great story from one of the clients you worked with, Marco, who just because he did a GI test. I think it was a GI test. Right. Talk a little bit about that because I think that's a really good illustration of what's possible and the compounding effect.
Yeah. So Marco is a race car driver. And he first came to me several years ago because he felt that his decision making, his mental acuity, his focus wasn't what it should be on the racetrack. And when you're going 200 miles an hour around curves, it's pretty important that you're able to make quick decisions. And so we put him through a battery test, and we found several issues that needed attention. One of them specifically was he had major gut health issues. Meaning the microbiome, which is the balance of bugs in your gut, controls everything, controls metabolism, energy and neurotransmitters and immune system. And there was a breakdown in his gut that led to food sensitivities. So when we did food sensitivity testing with Marco, we found that he had major issues with two things. Bananas and coffee. And guess what Marco was having for breakfast every day before a race.
Yep. Bananas and coffee. Yeah.
And so we made several changes, but when we made that one particular change, he said it was like a light switch, like everything changed. And suddenly his mind was sharper, he had focus, he had crystal clear clarity and was able to really change the way he approached race day.
So let's go down the rabbit hole, because I think there's.
The. The story of him and what happened over time is super interesting. The compounding effects. So if we back up a little bit, maybe I'm jumping around too much. Because if we go back, back step by step, because I do want to provide a step by step approach, which is you start with the diagnostics, the whole body. But you're doing 500 blood panels, which is the most extensive I've seen. You're looking at hundreds of thousands of genetic markers. Then you've got a panel your team, and we'll talk more about the team a little bit later. That looks at all this stuff, does the personalized plan, then you're doing data monitoring with all kinds of real time gadgets. And then again, the team is providing feedback. So I know I kind of took the thunder, but we'll go through each one of these. I want to just go back to Mirko and what happened over a period of time when you started compounding all these.
Yeah. So it started with making a few simple changes to his diet. We optimized some hormones, we cleaned up his gut. And the first thing Marco noticed was he started having improvement in his focus, his mental acuity, his concentration, his ability to make quicker decisions. He found he had better energy.
Yep. And I've got that on screen for people here, some of the results. But yeah, keep on going.
Yeah. So he actually had improvement in his body composition. He said he was sleeping better, energy was better. And he really, the way he describes it is a change his entire life from these simple changes. But I want to be clear that they're simple changes once you've done the advanced diagnostics to find those blind spots. Otherwise you're guessing. And there are a lot of people out there who are just guessing what's right for you. And we like to say test, not guess. And when you do that, you're able to find the hormone issues, the nutrient level issues, the gut health issues, whatever it may be that's causing those problems.
Great. And in his particular case, I know, and I have the screen up right now, which is, he wound up getting a Guinness World Record on top of that. So, like, we're not all professional athletes. I know it. But what I'm excited about is you're the first person I've seen who's put all these pieces together in with such a tight integrated monitoring system. And that's pretty mind blowing. So talk a little bit about the big race, the big win he had.
Yes. So he now holds a Guinness record. So with this transformation he went through, he was able to improve his performance on the racetrack and he actually won or he set a Guinness record for long distance racing.
Yeah.
Pretty amazing.
Yeah, it's, it's. And again, I'm going to put this up for everyone to see, actually have the, the Guinness Record in front if you're Watching the video. So very impressive. Congratulations, Doc. All right, let's move on to the. The next question I have for you, which is the science behind this. So.
You run a lot of tests and talk about the combination of different types of tests. Like when you go through, it's not just blood, it's not just genetics. You talked a little bit about gut health in his case, but talk about the functional, the imaging and then how these all come together. Sure.
So when we look at labs, we're looking at hormones, we're looking at markers of, of nutritional state, we're looking at markers of inflammation, cardiovascular health, we're looking at your body's ability to detoxify, we're looking at your metabolic health. We then look at a lot of markers of metabolism. So things like organic acid testing that looks at how your body is producing energy, we're looking at gut health, we're looking at things like cortisol, which is our stress hormone. And a lot of guys will say, no, I'm not stressed. But stress is actually a bigger issue than most high performers are willing to admit. And we can actually measure that. And we can test for that. We look at measures of fitness. VO2 max fitness testing is an incredibly important marker of actually longevity. Studies have shown that your fitness level directly correlates with your expected longevity. And so we can actually test that and measure that. We can measure your metabolic rate, and I can tell you exactly what your caloric burn is on a daily basis. How many calories does your body need and how many calories should you be eating on a daily basis to either gain or lose weight, depending on what your goals are? We're looking at full body imaging, so we do full body mri. And it's amazing the things you'll find when you're able to image the entire body. We do cardiovascular imaging, looking at the carotid ultrasound, excuse me, the carotid artery in your neck. With ultrasound, looking at a calcium score of your heart, which is measuring the plaque in the coronary vessels which directly ties to your risk of cardiovascular disease. We're putting all these together with genetics to really get a 360 degree view of where you are. And what are those blind spots that may be a problem that you're not even aware of. I like to share the story of Bob Harper. And Bob Harper is the lead fitness trainer on the TV show the Biggest Loser. And you may or may not have heard the story that at age 51, this guy who is the epitome of good health, had a heart attack he was actually lucky to be alive. He had a major heart attack.
Oh, he didn't die.
He survived. He survived and he had surgery and he survived, survived and now he has completely changed his approach to healthy lifestyle. For him the issue was lp, which is a little known biomarker that's related to cardiovascular health that most doctors don't ever look at. For him that was his blind spot. And once you identify that, that's a trigger that you need to change your approach to cardiovascular health.

You know my brother in law, John, he was this larger than life guy and at age 49, one morning he dropped dead. And so, you know, I like to say you don't get today back and it comes down to are you going to do the advanced diagnostic testing to find those blind spots that may rear their ugly head when you least expect it?
Yeah, very good. So.
And let's then talk about the integration process. So for you it's what we call the real system. And that's a combination of the diagnostics, the team, the science and when you're building a plan, and I'm curious because I've been through this on multiple levels, it hasn't ever been integrated all in one place. That's what I think is unusual about this is a lot of people claim to do it, it's either not as deep and as extensive.
It'S not all in one place and it doesn't happen all at once. We'll talk more about this later. You've got what you call launch day where you literally do everything all at once, which is crazy good.
But just talk about the combination of the science the medicine and put the program together. And what's that look like?
Yeah, sure. So we do all these advanced diagnostics that I mentioned, and we're looking at over 500 different biomarkers to identify what are your issues, what are your challenges. But then I like to always step back and first identify what are your goals, what's your why, what are you trying to accomplish.
In the future? What does success look like so that we can be sure that whatever we are doing for you is in alignment with what your goals ultimately are, not just treating numbers. When we put a plan together, there are multiple facets to that approach. There's a medical component where we may prescribe certain hormones or supplements or peptides. Peptides are a whole new, whole separate topic we could spend an hour talking about.
I love peptides are so cool.
And then occasionally some medications, which we certainly try to avoid, but some people, for some situations, may need medications. And then it's about continual monitoring. And this is where a lot of docs will fall off. This is where they don't do it the right way. Where you need to be checking these clients very closely in a plan to follow the changes and to make fine tuning and tweaks along the way. And so that's what my concierge team does, is we're constantly tracking lab work throughout to identify changes that may come up. Okay.
And we're going to get into all the hardware. I know we got a couple props here, but I want to spend some time there because last night we had dinner with one of your partner providers, and I was blown away at the extent, the depth of what they monitor and provide and how you basically put that in the dashboard.
That's right. So when we make all these changes and all these tweaks and refinements, it's how do we measure success? How do we identify that what we're doing is actually working? And that's where data comes into play. And I am obsessed with data and metrics and KPIs and how do we measure performance and success? And so we rely a lot on wearable technology. We use tools such as Oura Ring. We use Polar H10 straps for measuring heart rate variability, which is a surrogate for stress. We're measuring body composition. We're measuring sleep quality. We're measuring your fitness level. We're measuring your nutrition. We're tracking all of these different metrics so that we can identify what's working or not. You know that you mentioned the glucose monitor on your arm. It's an incredibly Powerful tool to help us understand if what you're doing is working or not, if the foods you're eating are right for you, if you need to make changes in perhaps what you're eating, how much you're eating, or maybe the sequence of what you're eating. And when you can use that data with a concierge level team who can identify trends and make changes along the way, that's how you get real results. Rather than waiting for three months down the road when you meet with the doctor again to look at lab work, that at that point is old news.
Okay, now I have a personal question for you.
And I haven't shared this with you and I was just thinking about it today. So I've been wearing, I, I've definitely historically had higher.
Cholesterol. It just runs high in my family. On my mom's side, I certainly inherited it. And I started wearing the blood glucose monitor because mutual friend of ours, Dr. Perlmutter said, hey, keep track of this and I'll take a look at your levels. And I definitely want to share all mine with you. But my blood glucose typically is around 105. 110. I've noticed. I moved to the carnivore diet about four months ago. My cholesterol dropped about 20 to 25%, which is pretty impressive. Totally normal right now. But we've been working together hard the past three days. A lot of intense stuff. And my blood glucose right now has been running about 120, 125. Why is that? What's the cause? Is this because of stress and the intensity of the work we're doing? Is that. What is it?
Yeah, yeah, Great question. And short answer is cortisol stress. It is. Yeah, it is. So you know, you look at blood glucose monitoring and you check fasting levels like when you first wake up and a lot of people will have levels higher than they should be and you think, well, how's that possible? I haven't eaten in 812 hours. Totally what's causing it? And the answer is stress. And I want to clarify that.
So from mine is absolutely anticipation. It is. So like I have been projecting all the intense work we've been doing and I noticed it was like I'm not even doing anything right now. And the other day it was down about 15 points. Really interesting. Okay, keep going.
Yeah, no, but this is a great point because when I work with high performing entrepreneurs, CEOs, athletes, whatever it may be, I'll sometimes I quit asking this question because I know the answer. Hey, Are you stressed? Do you feel that you're particularly stressed? And they're like, no, no, I'm good. I'm fine. It doesn't bother me. Well, bs it is hitting you. You're just not aware of it. And so when we say stress, we don't necessarily mean psychological stress about finance or marital issues or anything else in life we're talking about. Your body is like a race car in the red that doesn't have time to come down. And when you're constantly revving it at high RPMs like that, that's when you start to trigger elevations in blood glucose. And so it may be poor sleep quality, it may be alcohol you drank last night. It may be focus on a particular job or project that you're working on. It may be gut issues. It could be related to foods that you're eating that are not right for your body. So there are a lot of triggers. So when we say stress, it's not necessarily psychological stress about something in your life. It could be anything that's stressing your system.
I definitely have noticed that now. And this leads me to what I think is really amazing that you and your team do. So first of all, you do more markers, the genetics. Then you look at the panels and you start delivering all the appropriate treatments. Okay. Whether again, it's peptides, nutritional supplements, hormones, et cetera, et cetera, you start noticing the changes. But the fact that you've added these monitors, your team sets them up and then monitors what's going on and has a relationship with your patients. So now the. The. This tight loop that with irrefutable data and then ongoing tests that you do every 10 weeks, which is more frequently. But now we understand how valuable that is. When you've got the data and you have more data now, you get that high performer, professional athlete level focus. So talk a little bit about the integration, because that is what makes you truly unique.
Thank you. Yeah. So it's all about daily tracking. It's not just looking at numbers every three months or even 10 weeks. It's about what are the daily metrics that we have that can help us understand if what you're doing is working or not. And that may be be blood sugar numbers, it may be heart rate variability, which is an actual physiologic indicator of stress levels. You can measure stress. It's about looking at nutritional intake, it's about looking at sleep data. And I'll just mean how long you sleep. You know, a lot of guys will sleep seven hours and they'll Say, yeah, I slept fine, I had a great night. But when you look at the data, when you look at the, you know, the oura ring metrics, specifically the stages that matter like deep sleep and REM sleep, you see a very different story. So you may sleep seven hours, but if you only have nine minutes of deep sleep, you're not going to get the restorative aspect of sleep that you need. So when it comes to things like, you know, I want to back up for a second, you mentioned lipids, you mentioned blood sugar. As it relates to cardiovascular health. This is so important because cardiovascular disease is still the number one cause of death in men and women. And when we think about what causes that, you know, we think about atherosclerosis and plaque and then the conversation goes to lipids, and you have elevated lipids, the first thing your doctor wants to do is put you on a statin. But in fact, number one, cortisol, which we just talked about, is a big trigger for cardiovascular disease. Blood sugar regulation issues or dysregulation problems with blood sugar can cause that as well. And then lipids. There are a lot of reasons why your lipid numbers may be out of whack. And it's a matter of identifying for you what's the reason why your number's elevated. And that's different for everyone. Once you start to take that personalized approach, yes, we want to live longer, we want to live better, we want to enjoy quality of life. Sometimes it's a matter of diving deep and finding out, what do I need specifically. And it may not be what you're hearing on social media or in your email that you're being told is right for you.
Yeah, well, to me, as I'm listening to you, I was trying to think of as many metaphors as I could that go along with this. But it'd be like a mechanic, you know the old story about the three blind men and they're feeling an elephant and one of them, they're trying to decide what, one touches the trunk, one touches a hoof, and I don't know, it might be a dirty joke, one touches his hoo hoo. But what's important is, if you think about it, if you have a mechanic diagnosing a vehicle and looks at a quarter of the vehicle and then decides, well, you gotta be putting diesel in this thing and it's a gas powered car. Again, I think we have to spend more time on the metaphors. But.
I love the fact also that part of your experience includes a focused launch day. And if there's something I missed before we get here, tell me if there's something I should have asked you that I didn't before I talked to you about how you package this all in a day that doesn't include the overwhelm.
Yeah, I think, I think what's really important, first of all is guys are going to hear this and they're going to say, well, how do you do that? Can you really do that? And the answer is, I myself cannot, but my team can. And what I've done is I've assembled an amazing all star cast around me to be able to provide this experience and this transformation for men. And so I have an amazing medical team who has gone through functional medicine training, they've gone traditional medicine training, they've gone through hormone and peptide training. So they know how to, to do it the right way. First of all, I have functional medicine trained coaches. This is really important. You know, most doctors don't spend time with you on nutrition and fitness and sleep and stress and lifestyle accountability, all these things that matter. And I'll actually sometimes admit that the lifestyle component is more important than all the fun tests and medications and hormones and peptides that I can use.
Come on, Doc, no one wants to hear that, right?
They want the easy pill, but a lot of times it's the hard work you do at home. But sometimes you need accountability and guidance and support. And the most common question, I guess is, doc, what the hell do I eat? What am I supposed to eat when. And that's where my functional medicine trained coaches, they've gone through special certification to be able to look at the advanced testing and tell you exactly what you should eat, what you should not eat, and when. How can you improve sleep quality? How can you put together a fitness program that works for you, that we can actually track and measure and see that it's working. How can you put all these pieces together and provide really consistent accountability? And, you know, consistency is key. Tom Brady gave a great speech talking about how you don't have to be special. It's all about being consistent and doing the hard work every day. And that's where my coaches really come in. And then finally, it's my concierge team, my support team that works with my clients on a daily basis, taking all the data that's coming in, integrating it and helping them understand what do I. How do I use this wearable technology using this amazing dashboard we have where I can see all of the information in one place and understand if what I'm doing is working or not. And that's what's really missing in most healthcare systems.
Yeah. So I look at this again, what is interesting about yours that I think is truly unique is you've tightened the feedback loop so much that it can be happening basically in real time, especially with the data. And I've been wearing the OURA ring for a long time. I've had the Apple watch, we've got a prop over here, so heart rate variability, which you can wear. Collecting all that data, putting it into a system, you've managed to integrate it and Apple Health can't do all this stuff. You've got much more sophisticated software and the dashboard, your team looks at it along with the tests. This is an amazingly tight feedback loop that I don't know of anyone who's done it quite like you.
And that's how, in my opinion, you get the best results, is when you're continually fine tuning and tweaking and testing, not guessing, we like to say and understand what's right for you and that's how you can get. Guys want fast results, right? Time is money for most of the high performers I work with. They don't want to waste time, they don't want to waste, wait six months, a year to get results. I want results right now. And the only way you can do that is, like you said, to tighten that feedback loop and understand immediately if what I'm doing is working or not. And what do I have to do right now, today to get results tomorrow.
Yeah, that's great. So you've got some great case studies we've collected before we met with you. We've gone out and got testimonials from patients so we had permission to talk about them. Them we've got really good before and afters and some of the names we had Marco, the race car driver. We've got Joseph, Richard, Jerry, Rodney and Sydney Chris. Let's go through a couple examples because the next question I had for you was like, who do you find get the best results? What kind of people have you consistently found to be your best patients who.
Get involved, get past the overwhelm and fear, immerse themselves, fully, see results, and then continue to love this gamification, this reinforced experience that you've assembled. Because there's some people who aren't gonna, they're just not gonna be coachable and do well, and then there's others who are just gonna dive in and be like, tell me what my homework is, tell me what to do and I'm gonna Do it.
Yeah. One word you embedded in that question that answers it very succinctly is coachable. So we work with high performing executives, entrepreneurs, founders, former athletes, current professional athletes. It's those who are willing to commit and be coachable. And like you said, I hear every day, just tell me what to do or are you going to do, do what needs to be done on a consistent, reliable basis. And, and those high performers who are willing to commit to their long term future and longevity and health, those are the ones where we definitely see the best results.
Okay, so let's, let's actually profile. What are the ages that you found, you love to work with, get the greatest results, marry, you know, we know the basic framework. Again, they're the founder, entrepreneur, high performers, the ones who value their time more than anything and they know that a loss of their energy, their body, means they can't earn and they lose their businesses, they lose the attention of their customers, their team, and they want to be in a constant state of innovation.
Absolutely. So typically it's around 45 to 55 is the sweet spot where these founders, entrepreneurs, high performing leaders will start to notice changes. They have loss of focus, energy starts to decline, they're fatigued, they want to take a nap. Later in the day, they start to notice belly fat. They notice that all the work they're putting in at the gym isn't resulting in any gains, the recovery isn't like it used to be. Their drive is diminished. They're in like this brain fog state and they feel changes and they don't necessarily know what it is. They just know something is wrong. And you hit the nail on the head when you said time is money. For the entrepreneurs we work with every day, they're not performing at their best. When their mind and body aren't functioning at a high level, they're losing money. It's not just about the quality of life and their ability to be present and engaged with their kids and their wife and their friends and colleagues. It's about money as well. And so those are the people who we find the most success with because I get them. I was one of them. I myself in my urology career, I was that guy experiencing that same thing that they're going through now.
Yeah, well, and at this point you're an older dad, you got a 10 year old who's kicking your butt in golf.
That's right.
And 10 strokes and he still beat you. That was a funny story 10 years old.
But I get that. So talk a little bit more about We've got some success stories again, so why don't you talk. I like one of your stories about Rodney and Sidney Miller. Now, they're a little bit on the older scale compared to some of your clients, because it's not like you don't take people in their 70s or their 80s. Right. But that's basically when people are noticing it and they're more willing to take action. Because I think this is the classic. If it's like the frog in the boiling water, you get used to the heat after a while. And when you lose your edge, you. You say, well, that's just part of getting older, which is total nonsense. Pain sucks. No one should be in pain. It's inhumane. That's my opinion. And. But talk about Rodney and Sydney Miller.
Yeah. So they live outside Denver, Colorado, and they came to see us in Sarasota a few years ago because Rodney was massively overweight. He had low energy, he was fatigued. And as hard as he tried, he went through several of the programs, wasn't seeing any success, really struggling. His wife had issues with type 2 diabetes. She had fatty liver. And she also needed to lose weight as well. And they were both very frustrated, struggling with energy and quality of life. Was really suffering. And they're business owners as well, and they found that the real estate business was suffering because of that. And so they both joined our program at GAP Institute and they have seen combined, I think 86 pound weight loss between the two of them is what they've.
That's what I have. I put it on screen for everyone to see.
Yeah. So combined, £86.
Cindy's no longer diabetic. Her fatty liver has improved dramatically. Both of them, their hormones have been optimized. They have improved, improved energy. They feel great. They look amazing. Now he's an Air Force veteran and, you know, appreciate his service and, and now they enjoy this Air Force ball they go to every year and they talked about how they were embarrassed to go to this ball in the shape they were in. And they had a lot of aches and pains as well, which was causing them just a struggle to get around. Now I think there's a picture of them at the ball last year and they look like a completely different couple.
Yeah, you can totally see in his face the, yeah, the. He looks masculine. Defined jaw, cheekbone. You can see his testosterone back in his face. It's. It's a profound change. That's. That's. Congratulations. I love that. Another one, classic high performing. You've got Joseph Verico. Richard Beaney.
Jerry Greenberg. I'm giving you any one of those three to choose from because I think they're all great transformations.
Richard Benny, he is amazing guy. So he was a plumber. He and his wife ran an incredibly successful plumbing business to the point that they sold it for a large number. And he realized he had a keen skill set for teaching other plumbers how to build their business as well. And so he had this business to teach other plumbers how to make grow their business. He found that he was struggling in that. And again, the same issues. Energy focus, mental acuity, fatigue, belly fat. And so he went through the program and he had amazing transformation where he lost a ton of weight. He talks about how he lost his dad bod. He has more energy than he ever had before. But what that really translated into, their business has exploded. And I like to use this as an emphasis point here, that there's the why and there's the why behind the why. Yes, you want to have more energy. Yes, you want to have a great body and, you know, burn fat and.
Have better focus and clarity. But what does that help you achieve? And for him, it's about really blowing up his business. And he looks great, he feels great, and the transformation for him has really been incredible.
Yeah, once again, I can, you can totally see the definition. Like one thing I've noticed in everyone who adjusts their hormones, generally peptides are part of that and gets the proper testing done. They really understand. Usually there's that one breakthrough that leads to another breakthrough, creates the compound effect. But you really see it in the face, that definition. And of course, when you just start working out and I can again speak for myself, when I, I started combining all these things and I started wearing more gadgets and monitoring this closely, I'm up now at 58, I'm running five miles a day, and I'm not losing my breath and my recovery time because I increase my protein so much. And this is over around 220, 240 grams a day. Good chunk. It often took me two to three days to recover. I was in pain, aches and pains, and my knees aren't jack. So it's a combination of all of these things together that have made a profound, profound difference. And it wasn't too long ago I was thinking to myself, you know what? I'm just feeling old and achy, painy. Even though I know better, even though I have the resources.
I still find myself in that hole. And that's where I wanted to bring to the mindset side of working with your team before we. I really want to get into the program and launch day because I think that's the tipping point. But can you talk a little about the mindset, both the team approach and how this feedback and the mindset feeds in and just gets us past this hump of feeling like it's too late. I'm not sure if I can do something about it.
Yeah, yeah. It's never too late, and I'm glad you bring that up. The mindset has to shift to being open to change, to being open to transformation. And you're a great example of how you thought you knew what you're supposed to do. And sometimes the challenge is you don't know what you don't know. And that's where it goes back to.
Or even was possible.
Yeah, it was possible.
Yeah. And it's not until you do the test and you find out. Actually, what's wrong with me is something's off in my biochemicals, it's my gut, or I don't know why I feel like crap at three in the afternoon, or I don't know why I'm waking up depressed and anxious. Something's off.
That's right. Yeah. And that's where the blind spots come in. And you've done an incredible job of identifying those blind spots for you. And in my mind, that's what launch day is all about. Launch day is all about finding, through the extensive testing that we do, the 500 plus biomarkers that we're looking at and the genetics and everything else to identify those issues so that we can now give you the arsenal, help you be armed with the knowledge of what you need to fix.
But I want to be clear that launch day is literally a day people spend with you. And you do all this.
That's right.
All in one day, all the tests and you set people up and there's an opportunity. Depending on which program. There's an annual program, there's the one day program, but you can get in here and you GU guys provide all the gadgets and set it up, get it configured and integrated. You're the first group I've seen that does this and then has all the support led by a real md.
Yeah.
So that's what I want to make sure we got clear here. This is. This is a package all in one place.
Yeah. And the one word that I think is worth addressing is overwhelm. You know, there's so much noise out there. Information out there about what should I be eating? Nutrition, fitness. Use this Wearable. Should I use this for HRV or this for sleep or this for fitness? And what tests should I be doing and what gut health supplements should I be taking and what peptides are right for me? And there's so much coming at men that they don't know what to do, they don't know how to deal with it all and it becomes overwhelming. And so what launch day is really focused on is helping you put all the pieces together in one day so that you can leave there armed with understanding how do I use this technology so that I can track my sleep, so I can track my stress, I can track body composition, track blood sugar, what are the hormone issues, what are the gut issues that I need to focus on? What do my genetics tell me is right for me? What's my fitness level? We do cognitive testing, we do all this testing to understand what you need. So then when we work with you over our year long peak launch program, we can identify what needs to be focused on and what can we put off till later.
Yeah, it is. I love the program and I told you this the first time I met you, I think you're underpricing it. So now's the time when I'm going to talk a little bit about some action taking here. So I'm going to put something on screen for everyone to see. And, and what this is is we've got some free bonuses we put together for everyone listening and watching and you can go to gapinstitute.com launch to get this but there's a combination of we've got a recorded masterclass. You can learn about.
All the biomarkers. So there's an opportunity to get all your biomarkers, work with your team. You've got a book which is mail 2.0. It's cracking the code to limitless health and vitality. It's a, a book on this topic, your TEDx talk and transcript but also an opportunity to get a discovery call. So is there anything you want to share about some of the bonuses we put together and also about the performance health diagnosis?
Yeah. So a lot of guys want easy button, they want it fast, they want it now. And that's really what I'm all about. And I'm a high performing guy just like you, just like all the guys I work with and I know how they think. I don't have time to screw around, I don't have time to wait six months for something. I need it now. Everything we do is focus on how can we save guys time so that we can improve quality of life, improve their health, extend longevity.
And do that all in a quick period of time.
That's great. Again, just so I'm clear, when you go to gapinstitute.com launch, you'll learn about launch and you'll be able to download and get all the free goodies that we just talked about. So just in closing, we've covered a lot of information here and.
You'Ve worked with, by all accounts, you've worked with thousands and thousands of men and then you've done this work. I know it's, it's in the thousand man range doing this high performance work with right now, what would you say is the one thing that holds people back from getting committed to do this work? When they run into a block and they, they go from feeling committed or they go from going uncommitted to committed or from committed and then into overwhelm and then, and they lose their momentum. So it's really two questions in one. But I want to understand the psychology that you see over and over again. And what is it that brings someone over the hump so they do the work and get going?
Yeah, I love that question. And I think the key is to believe that it's possible to believe that you can feel like you were 30 again, that you can have the energy and focus and body and sex drive and quality of life that, that you did when you were younger again. And a lot of guys can't see that, they can't believe that. But it's possible at any age you can experience that transformation once you believe. And for a lot of guys, when they commit to launch day, when they commit to peak launch program, just that commitment is the biggest part of the transformation because they're showing that they believe.
And I want to give a shout out because one of your clients, his name is Chris Sleight.
Abby, our producer, just texted me this and she said there's a quote from Chris, he says, you know, we'll buy these fancy cars and watches and all this stuff, but turning around and investing in me, investing in my health was something I didn't know why I put it off. And why don't you talk a little bit about Chris Sleight because he's been a great partner for you, he's been a great referrer. He's in the wealth management space, works in the financial space. And for him and you and I have talked about this, the best thing, a partner, a financial wealth, anyone who's in a business that depends upon long term relationships the smartest and best retention program you can ever create is keeping your clients mobile.
That's right.
It's keeping them alive. Because that's the best conversion process you'll ever get is keep them alive longer. I say you, what I think you should be doing is going out to any kind of high value clubs, golf clubs, for example, and that can be your retention program. I have the perfect retention program for you. I'm going to keep your people mobile longer and I'm going to keep them alive longer so they pay you longer. And it's the best gift they'll ever get because all of them will talk about this place. And you're the one who introduced me to Dr. Gap, so talk a little bit about Chris, a little bit.
Chris is an amazing human being. So met Chris, friend of a friend, and he's an incredibly successful wealth advisor. He actually just had a recent exit. So congratulations to Chris. Good job. He came to me without giving too much of his health history away. He came to me out of fear. And it really started with fear, fear of long term health. And we were able to identify some really easy tweaks for him to enact in his lifestyle. Some hormone and peptide stuff that helped along the way as well.
But by doing that we were able to first of all change his mindset, get out of the fear state. And how can I optimize my health? What can I do next? How can I get even better? That helped him realize what's possible and it helped him see how he can provide that same experience for his clients as well. You bring up a great point that these high powered wealth advisors, you know, they have family, office and it's a big team. You know, clients are investing millions of dollars in this team. They need to be investing in their health as well. Because what's more important, if you don't have your health, what do you have? And a lot of times that falls by the wayside. And so there's this new focus on what really matters and it's this concerted health span of, you know, it's not just about when you die, but are you going to enjoy the quality of life up until that, that point. And wealth advisors know better than anyone that their clients have to have that because it affects them as well directly.
Yep, yep. No. And, and what I found after doing and being in this business a long time is.
There'S always one spouse who's into this and dragging the other one kicking and screaming. And the best gift you can give someone is get the diagnostics Done. So you have irrefutable proof and you'll know why you feel the way you do and when you feel the way you do.
And that starts the momentum as well. So with that, is there anything I should have asked you that I didn't. Before we send everyone to gapininstitute.com launch to get all the goodies we promised and learn more.
Yeah, I love what you just brought up about the spouses. And I find that, that when we speak to women, women are the ones who make a lot of, if not most, healthcare decisions for families. And so a lot of times it's the women who will get their husbands to step up and, hey, honey, go get your diagnostics done. Find out what's going on, find out, you know, the issues, why maybe you're not performing like you wore in the.
Bedroom, why you should grumble, grumble, grumble, grumble, grumble. Yeah.
And so I would urge all the women listening to do this for your men, if they're not willing to give them a little kick in the butt and urge them to get tested, to find what those issues are. And then what happens is the men commit. And, you know, we've talked about this. My focus has always been men's health. And so, you know, our program was initially designed for men, but when the men join Peak Launch and they start experiencing all these changes, the women are like, what about me? And so we have a women's health team as well, and we serve the wives as well because, you know, it's so much more powerful with you experience this transformation as a couple.
Yeah, Someone has to be the domino to get this thing rolling. And, well, I'm going to end it with that before we close up, which is after spending. I've spent three days now with Dr. Gapen's team and they are amazing. They're incredible. And as I've mentioned over and over in here, I haven't seen a more integrated group all in one place. And I love, love, love what they're doing with the hardware and closing that feedback loop and then being able to communicate with you in real time about what's going on. And the density of data they're collecting is immense. So go to gapininstitute.com launch, get the goodies that we promised, which again include information on health diagnostics. There's an opportunity to sign up and get those. The Peak Launch masterclass, the free book, the TEDx Talk and Transcript. It's great information. And then the Peak Launch discovery call, you can actually talk to someone on Dr. Gapen's team and get this process going. But I would just say flat out, do launch. It's one day. It creates the momentum you need and you can get your spouse involved as well. So with that, that, let's say goodbye to everyone, shall we? Thanks so much. All right, thanks for watching. This is Capability Amplifier. Make sure you take a moment and share this episode with someone you know who could benefit from this information. Can't wait to see you in the next episode. Thank you very much, my friend. Well done. Appreciate it. All right, so long, everyone.
