What I Learned from Editing 100 Videos with Capcut (fastest, easiest way to edit)

Hey, this is Mike Koenigs. I'm here today with Dr. Tracy Gapen, and I'm going to demonstrate how to edit with capcut. So I'm going to begin by sharing my screen. And the reason I like Capcut, first of all is because it's freaking easy as hell and it is fast, so. And it works on iPads, it works on.

Your iPhone, it works on the desktop, any laptop. It's cheap as heck and it does captions really good automated captions. It'll transcribe your video so you can edit by transcript. So when we edit that little clip of your step by step video that we just shot, we're going to be able to look for the mistake you made and be able to edit it out with text.

Perfect.

It's just great. And then the rendering is awesome too. So before I dive into this, are there any pre questions you might have before we dive in? Okay, great. So let me share my screen with you. We're using eCamm, by the way, and you just start by hitting Create project. And the interface works exactly the same on any machine you're on. So here's the video file. So I'm going to just drag this over and put it in the timeline.

So it'll show up here.

Now the first thing I always do is.

Is I'm going to just go plus plus plus, so command plus and I'm going to look for the beginning right there. And I can trim by just dragging and then boop. It automatically goes. And I go to the end as well. That's sort of like you give yourself a little win, smile and hold. Okay, good.

And then the next thing we can do is there's this little icon here which is transcript. So you'll see how fast this thing is. Of course, the faster the machine, the faster you edit. My rule is I always have fast hardware because if I save myself a couple hours every week, the thing pays for itself. Okay, there we go. So you can see the script over here. Imagine if you could be the da da, da da. You can hear mutual conversation if you have a wealth. Okay, so we get through and I think there's even.

That there might be something in here where I'll auto edit. It even has like this remove filler words.

No, it's fine. Again, I. I always look for the gaps, and because you read from a prompter, there are no, you know, big mistakes. Yep, yep. So once we're done with that, we're. We're good to go again. You can get in here. But I'm going to show you some of the other stuff I freaking love. Now, I got to go back, and in doing this, I got to select these two, and there's a couple things that are built in. One of them, I use this every time. It's like my go to. I click on enhance image. So boom, and it starts processing right away. The other one is I go over to.

Retouch. I click on retouch. Now, here's where you can do plastic surgery. So I'm going to get rid of your lines in your forehead. So I'm going to give you some Botox. So I'm going to do a little bit of. Even a little bit of smooth. You can see it's already smoothing your face. And then I always whiten teeth. And then I do bright eyes. Now, you've already got pretty eyes, but this will make them freaking pop like no one's business. Okay, so there's your plastic surgery, and then the relight feature that I hit. That just enhances the images. It just makes everything look good. And then.

Let's see, what else? Canvas.

Yeah, and it's got stuff like AI movement. It can auto adjust tons and tons of stuff. And then audio. If this was shot like with an iPhone, you can normalize it so it sounds a Little bit better. You can enhance voice if there's some stuff that needs popping. We're running through a mixer so it sounds freaking great. Adjustment. This is one more thing. So I hit auto adjust. Boom. Look at that. This sucker makes any footage look good and we're shooting with a great camera. Um, and then let me see here. I'm going to show you one more thing. So that's like if we just hit export now. And one thing I will show you is this is one of my little shortcuts is I always copy the title. I put it up here, I give it a name because we got to make sure we're saving this. Except I shot it and it was called Take two. And I'll say final.

And then we're going to do one with captions, no captions. Okay. So that will just be final. And I could just say on here no captions.

Now what's really, really good about this app is this thing. It's already been processing and running behind the scenes and has rendered this thing. So I'm rendering this at 4k now. I shot it in 1080p. This thing up samples upscales so it can take shitty old footage and make it look good. So it's going to do its little processing right now. At the moment it's applying all the effects and I don't want to wait for all that stuff because it'll take a couple minutes. So I'm going to show you one more feature that's kick ass and I'll render this for real when we're done here. But I'm going to do it while we're eating. So now we've got these selected. I go up here, I hit captions and again I'm going to go back to finishing what I started, which is this is how I do everything. And I can get through.

A 60 minute video. Auto Edit, do copy paste, copy paste, enhance it and boom. And I'll just go grab a byte while it renders again. The faster the computer, the better. But now let's make this thing baller so we can do pro Imagine. Now I'm going to click. Now watch how fast this does. So you've got different captions which include emojis, different layouts. It's really. They all look good. Okay, and now that, that might not be super pro, but let's just see what it does. So you can see it is racing, doing transcriptions, building the captions. And the only thing you'll need to do and I'll kind of demonstrate that is it. Once in a while it kind of monkeys it up. So we just have to scrub through as soon as it's done. Just moving our cursor back and forth. And you'll see I'll just kind of plus in here. So when you drag across. Imagine by helping them recognize their health. Now you'll see one of the things is there's a little cursor there. Look at that. So we may drag this up, but it's dragging all of them. And then again I'll. I'm using command plus and minus to expand the work. Drag, drag, drag. Certified mutual connection. So all I'm doing. So it said perl mutter. So.

I got to just click on it. Might know.
