Cal Newport's "Slow Productivity" measures success over decades, not quarters. LeBron James has played 23 years at record-breaking levels, and Tom Brady won a Super Bowl at 43, both by building careers around sustainability. The question: is your work pace something you can actually maintain?

Cal Newport wrote a great book called Slow Productivity, and he talks about how, what if we measured our life instead of what's this giant accomplishment I accomplished this year, but instead slow it down and see what can I accomplish over a 10-year period, and these bigger objectives, bigger dreams and goals. And when we are looking at that slow versus long-term, when we're in the long-term perspective, then we're also looking at how do I have longevity? There's a reason LeBron James is playing in his 23rd year. That's a record. The reason Tom Brady won a Super Bowl at age 43, that's a record, right? They basically designed their physical athletic accomplishments around longevity and sustainability instead of like trying to just jack it up and do the most in the short time, even though they were also very focused on how to maximize this window and this year. And so if you start thinking about, is my pace sustainable? That's the natural rhythm.
