McCall McPherson discusses breast implant illness with a medical expert, examining whether silicone or saline filler matters. The research shows the implant shell and capsule are what matters, not the filler itself. The conversation debunks claims about mold in saline implants.
Tell me about bii. Is it more common with silicone versus saline implants? What have you found on that?
Doesn't matter.
And so does it not matter because the saline implants are. Have silicone in their shell anyway or because you always hear that silicone's worse than saline? But is that kind of the reason?
Yeah, that study we did, the shell characteristics did not matter. I'm sorry, the filler did not matter. It's always the shell. Right. The shell has the same characteristics. And you know the. The fancy thing that's put on Instagram all the time is saline implants have mold in them.
Yeah, that was my next question. Talk about that.
Yes. We published a paper. One, because I knew that was not the truth.
Yeah.
And two, you know, I don't like fear mongering. It's not a thing. You know, I've had five patients out of a thousand have fungi, which. That's what mold is. Right. And once again, I tell you, if it's inside, it doesn't really matter. It matters what's on the patient's scar tissue capsule on the inside.
