GLP-1 meds can improve gut function?

McCall McPherson breaks down a study showing GLP-1 drugs like semaglutide can increase beneficial gut bacteria, reduce leaky gut, and lower inflammation. The drugs boost short-chain fatty acid production, though dosing matters: too much causes nausea and diarrhea.

Are you on a GLP1 weight loss medication like WeGoviosynth semaglutide and you're noticing improvement in your gut function? Fascinating. I have a study that shows all the ways these medications improve gut function. And I know, I know people who are over medicated on these meds often have gut issues. The reality is, again, when you are properly medicated, often in micro doses, these medications can improve gut function without causing nausea, you know, diarrhea, etc. So this study came out and it says not only do GLP1s improve overall gut function, they improve beneficial bacteria levels, they increase good bacteria in your gut, they improve gut integrity, meaning your gut is not so overreactive, things are not getting into your bloodstream. It's decreasing frequency and severity of leaky gut. They improve and increase production of what's called your short chain fatty acids, which is what we need beneficially to receive from our gut bacteria. We need them to produce these. They're biologically necessary. And GLP1's improved production, they also reduce inflammation. I have been screaming this for two years. There are lots, lots of pathways that these medications reduce from an inflammatory perspective, a lot of which I've already discussed. I will keep discussing this to no end. The gut reduction of inflammation is a new one that's just showing up in research. So I will drop the link in my IG profile or stories and it will always be saved in the studies highlights so you can find it there.
