What's up everybody? Welcome back to the Draymond Green Show. On today's show, I'll get into some of the headlines that I've taken note of over the past few days, including some potential tanking solutions. I think they're pretty out there right now, kind of loose, but they'll maybe round into form one day. Kendrick Perkins made some comments on the Dubs, and there's been another NBA fight. These things are becoming more and more common these days. You know, after I've been told I was craziest man in the world. Yeah, these things are becoming more common. So we'll get right into those, some of those as well. First off, let's get straight into it. The Draymond Green Show is proudly presented by Grooms. Grooms proves that you can do the least and still feel the most, thanks to a delicious daily habit that does the heavy lifting. Save up to 52% off with code Draymond at Grooms.co. That's code Draymond at Grooms.co. Dub Nation, what's happening? Big time dub for the Dubs today. Big win against the Nuggets. A complete team effort. Got a lot of contributions from a lot of people. But most importantly, let's start off talking about Big Al Horford. Al came out the gate firing. Al started the game in place for me because I was a last-minute scratch. I just had some back tightness that I couldn't quite get to release. Pretty early game, which is kind of out of the routine for an NBA player, 12:30 start. And so I just couldn't get a release. So I was a late scratch, which inserted Al Horford immediately into the lineup. And he was incredible. Great defensively. Joker had a really good game, great numbers, but it wasn't, hey, it didn't beat us, but I didn't think it was, as great as the numbers were, I didn't think it was as dominant as Joker used to be. Yeah. Than he usually is. And you know, that was, you know, Al contributed to a lot of that being the primary defender on Joker. Al played more minutes than he's played all season. And his production was incredible. Like I said, he shot the lights out the ball. He was on the move. It's crazy though, because when we got back from break against the Celtics, like you could tell Al was getting downhill, moving well, shots just weren't falling. But you can tell his focus level was a lot, I wouldn't necessarily say higher, but just that he was locked in at a different level coming out of the All-Star break against Boston. And it just didn't go great. But then he also, you know, as we went on that run late, he, you know, he was a part of it. And then tonight he was incredible. He really got it going. You know, for a very young group, you know, settled everyone down. Moses had a great game. Moses has been playing incredible over the last month and a half or so. Great game from Moses. GP's been playing great. Another great one for him. Another great one for Melt. Gee Santos has stepped it up over the last 10 games. Another great game for him. And then BP, who couldn't throw the ball in the ocean, for the first 3 quarters, went ballistic in the 4th quarter. You know, he was already having a good game. I think going into the 4th quarter, I think he had 6 rebounds, 7 assists, or vice versa. And then the shots started falling. And once the shots started falling, really took over the game. I think he finished with 18, 15, and 9. Great game for him and much needed for us. So— Salute. It's good to see all those guys come together and put together a great win against a really good Denver team. You know, to stop a 2-game losing streak was absolutely incredible. Porzingis was out today with an illness. I don't think it's what everyone thinks it is, but I don't know that to be certain. I know he had been diagnosed with POTS, at least that's what everybody been saying. I don't have insider information on this, but I don't think it was that. But again, I don't know that to be certain. I just don't think so. But Porzingis' debut against Boston was very promising. You know, first run was a little tough for us and then he got it going. Hit some shots. You know, took advantage of some mismatches in the post. You know, he's gonna take a little bit to get his legs underneath him, but he's gonna be an incredible addition. And you could just see quick flashes of it in that Boston game. But hopefully he's healthy and well, able to make the trip tomorrow. It'll be good to make the trip. I'm looking forward to making the trip. We got a quick 2-game back-to-back, one in New Orleans and then the next night in Memphis, and then we're back home. So, you know, it's 2 very winnable games for us, but, you know, You know, every in the game, every game in the NBA is tough to win. And that's just the reality of the league we play in. No matter who's on the floor, it's always gonna be tough to win. So we are going to have to go in there locked in the same way guys went locked in tonight, today, I should say. You need to carry that momentum over and try to go get 2 wins on the road. That'll be a good momentum shifter for us as we— Draymond Green. We just continue to await 30's return. And speaking of 30, Kendrick Perkins says the Warriors should shut Steph down for the rest of the season. He says, "Shut him down for the remainder of the season. Let's be real, this Warriors team is not going anywhere." Draymond Green, I don't know where his mind is at, but it's definitely not on the game of basketball. He looked horrible last night. Think about that. And the world we live in, these guys need something to talk about. Every day. And so they make the biggest deal out of no deal, right? So like going into the All-Star break, everybody's like, "Oh my God, man, Draymond turned back the clock. Draymond played great." And then one game after the All-Star break, you have a rough game and this guy goes, "I don't know where his head at, but it ain't on basketball." You're not allowed to have a bad game anymore. Yeah. I think it's very interesting. Needless to say, Yeah, Perk, you never had bad games. Perk, we seen you play, big fella. We saw you, big dog. Like, you played. You know what I'm saying? Like, to go in on one, on a bad night, Perk, you played. We got the clips. We got your clips of your screen setting. We got clips of your jump shots, Perk. We got clips of your jump hooks. You played, Big Perk. You know what I'm saying? So like, careful, man. We can start pulling clips now, Big Perk. Now what I will say is this, 'cause y'all know I'm always be honest. I played, I did have a good game against San Antonio. And a few good games mixed in there periodically. But man, them dog days that last 3, 4 weeks before that All-Star break was tough. Head was spinning. Tough. Felt like the little cartoons that doing like this when they get hit so the kids can know they dizzy. That's how I felt. Like it was, I needed that break. And you have a bad game coming after break, it happens. But head not on basketball. Like, come on, Big Perk. You played, big fella. And we got them clips. So, you know, a bad game happen every now and then, man. And that's the nature of it. I think for kids out there, it's important to understand kind of the time that y'all are living in. The times that the kids will be trying to make it through, that it's not okay to have one bad game, you know? So. Yeah. It's like the end of the world when you have a bad game. And then these same people, you have a good game and then they be like, "Yo, this such and such and such and such." So be careful listening to this stuff for the young kids out there that's trying to make it because it's oftentimes a bunch of garbage. But yeah, shout out to Big Perk, man. You played, big dog. You know how this goes, have one bad game. I can promise you, Big Perk, I ain't where you was at at the end of yours. Yeah. So we good, big dog. After the break, I'll go around the association, react to Adam Silver's tanking solutions, the Heat and Grizzlies fight, which I have some interesting insight on, and much, much more. Be back right after this. Sports and pizza have a lot in common. You know what rookie mistakes look like? Not listening to vets, getting lost on defense, and yeah, overpaying for pizza. With Domino's best deal ever, it's right there. And the right lineups in sports and pizza are absolutely necessary. With Domino's best deal ever, that lineup just so happens to be $9.99. So let me be a pizza GM for a second. I'm building my starting five. I'm gonna start Pineapple at the one because you need a little sweetness to the pizza. And I know a lot of you gonna say, "No pineapples on pizza." Always pineapples on pizza. I'm going Onions at the two. Onions. Give it a little tang, little spark. Balance out the sweetness. Little tang, little zing. Mushrooms at the 3. Give it a little different flavor. And most importantly, you're getting your veggies. Chicken at the 4, because it ain't no pork on my fork. Need some protein. Take the chicken. And we got olives at the 5. That's my wildcard. Underrated, but makes the whole pizza better. I'm going hand-tossed crust, classic red sauce, load it up. Any toppings your way, no overthinking it. With Domino's best deal ever, you can get any pizza with any toppings for just $9.99. Price is higher in some locations. Select this online-only offer from February 23rd to April 6th. Size availability varies by crust type. Max 7 toppings, 6 for New York style and pan crust. Stuffed crust is extra. Excludes XL and specialty pieces. Minimum purchase required for delivery. Prices, participation, delivery area, and charges may vary. And welcome back to the show. Now we'll move around the association. I have to talk about the Scottie Pippen Jr., Myron Gardner fight. And I know most of y'all are probably like, who the hell is Myron Gardner? And Myron Gardner is a young fella, I think he's on a two-way, who plays for the Miami Heat. And Myron Gardner, if you remember back a few weeks ago, Maybe about a month ago, we played the Miami Heat home. Jimmy Butler got hurt. If you remember that game, Brandon Paszczynski played great in the fourth quarter. Fourth quarter's clearly a thing. He played well the whole game, but in particular in the fourth quarter, he kept turning every shot he made, he kept turning and talking to the bench. And who he was talking to was actually Myron Gardner. So, you know, he is from Detroit, Michigan, by the way. So interestingly enough, Myron Gardner is like, this is becoming his MO, like a guy who talks, tries to get involved in all of the things. You know, and listen, what works for you works for you, I think, at the end of the day. But I think when you play, you gotta have the game to back it up, you know? So when he's out there, you gotta be backing it up. It can't just be like, "Oh man, I'm gonna pick these fights," and you can't back it up with the game. Now, when I say this is his MO, if you remember back in November, Klay Thompson, got into it with someone on the Miami Heat bench. And you may remember, Caron Butler, OG, made the young fella go apologize to Klay Thompson. That was Myron Gardner, right? So it's becoming a thing, man. Myron Gardner may end up making our fire starter list. Like, he's starting to get into it with a lot of guys. So anyway, you know. Yeah. You sure y'all saw the clips, if not, you will. He runs into the back of Scottie Pippen Jr. And young Pippen runs up to him and tries to get at him. Now the clip, the video that I saw wasn't that great. So you couldn't really tell what transpired once Pippen got at him. I know they went down, but you can't, it wasn't great. You couldn't really see it. Needless to say, on a two-way, You start getting them fines, they hit a little different. You know, so, but the same token, he could be earning his way onto a regular contract with that type of attitude. I don't, you don't know how it's being accepted in his organization. You know, his organization may feel like they need that from him, right? If they need that from you, all of a sudden he get a contract, you know? And so it's a very slippery slope, but I think for Myron Gardner, You know, I would just say like, you gotta, every time you get on the floor, you can't be the guy getting into these things because other guys around the NBA is gonna see it. You know, other players around the NBA, when they're playing him, when they're playing the Miami Heat and they get an opportunity to say something to him, especially if he playing and he ain't playing well, guys from the bench gonna be killing him. Like they're gonna talk bad about him, right? So then he gonna spend his time talking to them, not focused on the game, all these things, right? So you end up putting a target on your back and you just gotta make sure that you're ready for that target on your back. 'Cause I see a lot of guys do things to put that target on their back and then they realize, oh shit, I ain't ready for that target on my back. If I'm honest, I think Myron Gardner's a different type and he may be ready for that target on the back. Again, you gotta have the game, to go with it. You know, so that's just a little word of advice. Little word from the wise, word to the wise. Myron Gardner, just, you know, I don't know if your OGs gonna cover them fines for you now, man. So I don't know what they doing down there in Miami. I don't think Wigs covering no fines. I know Wigs ain't walking up to you like, "Yo, I'm gonna take care of your fines." Wigs gonna walk the other way. So I don't think Bam covering no fines either, you know? So young fella gonna have to figure it out. But you know, I like the aggression. One thing's for certain is everybody now know Myron Gardner's name. So capitalize on it. Next time you play, play well. Everybody gonna be watching you now. Take advantage of it. It's been announced that Adam Silver is tossing around a few different tanking solutions. And different concepts have been discussed. First round picks can be protected only the top 4 or top 14 plus. Lottery odds freeze at the trade deadline or a later date. No longer allowing a team to pick in top 4 in consecutive years and/or after consecutive bottom 3 finishes. That would, if that rule was in place, there would be no San Antonio with Victor Wembenyama and Stephon Castle. Teams can't pick in the top 4 the year after making the conference finals. That would mean no Cooper Flagg in Dallas. Lottery odds allocated based on 2-year records. So if you just suck for 1 year, that's not really increasing your lottery odds substantially. Flatten the odds for all lottery teams. I can understand that. I, I think that one is probably the most effective. Like, all of these other ones are like punishments. I think this one is the best fix because all these other ones are flawed a bit, right? Like, some teams are just gonna suck, you know? And like, if you do really just suck, you know, like, there's no path to winning. Like, there's no real path to Washington winning this year. Yeah. Right, like obviously they got Trae now, they got AD, those guys aren't playing, but the team before, there was no real path for them to win this year. I don't know if you can necessarily punish them, although yes, they are tanking, but their tank is a little different. They've been trash for quite a while now, you know? And so, but maybe that drops them into some of these things, right? But I just think it can get a little dicey with some of those things. Whereas opposed, I think if you flatten the lottery odds and all 14 teams has the same probability to get the number 1 pick, number 2 pick, I think that helps a bit. Because then you're not just throwing every game like you're in the lottery. The chances are— so I like that one the most. And then I also like Charles Barkley's idea, which is you can't raise ticket prices if you're below .500. Because why are you raising ticket prices? It's kind of like— Yeah. A high tide lifts all boats. So the NBA, Steph Curry's great, right? Like the Raiders go crazy. Like Shea Gildress in OKC is great. You know, like, so a high tide raises all boats. Well, NBA teams take advantage of that and they just raise the ticket prices because they're NBA teams. I agree with Charles Barkley's idea. You shouldn't be able to raise ticket prices And it should also cost you in some other areas. Maybe you need to drop your concession stands. Again, make it affordable because you're a trash team with these fans coming to watch you play. But then let's make this a little more affordable. You're a value team. So they're gonna get value when they come to your games. I actually feel strongly about this one because a lot of bullshit happen when we go places. Steph Curry's road show, everybody raised their ticket prices. Anytime we go to a city, the ticket prices are way higher than they normally are. It's called dynamic pricing. Steph Curry's coming to town, they know all they fans wanna see Steph Curry. We get tickets prices raised crazy, and then we suffer. We have to buy those tickets for if we have guests. And so I actually agree with Charles Barkley's idea the most. You can't raise ticket prices if you're under .500. You stink, your ticket prices should stink. I'm rolling with that one. Needless to say, I'm happy to see that they're finally looking into the tank. And it got so, it's gotten so egregious this year that I think it needs to be addressed. And so I think, like I said, the best ones are flattening the odds for our lottery teams and Charles Barkley's idea. Hit them pockets. I think that helps both. Big Perk been on the road, man. Big Perk says, "Kade Cunningham is officially better than Luka Dončić and is now right up there with SGA, Giannis, and Joker." And I like this because I think Kade Cunningham has definitely moved into a different tier. I spoke about when we played the Pistons a couple weeks ago, I said then, I don't know how Kade Cunningham is not higher up in this MVP voting. Guess everybody take notice now. So shout out to them. I respect that. You know, Cuff's got a big thing with this. I respect it. Shout out to them. But I'm not in the business of, "Oh man, K Cunningham is better than Luka Dončić now." I'm not in that business. I don't feel the need to like lessen Luka. To make Cade more. I just think Cade is incredible. I think Cade is ready to take them next steps, man. He got his team number 1 in the East, came out the All-Star break 42-9 at the Garden, owning the New York Knicks. Cade Cunningham owns the New York Knicks. And you know, with the play, like, man, He making everybody better. He's scoring the basketball. He's so poised. You can't speed him up. It's so fun to watch. Like the way he's revived Detroit basketball is insane. And he put the Buffs on the day of the draft and said he was gonna do it. And then he's doing it. He's actually doing it, you know? And so it's been fun to watch, man. Really enjoying watching the growth of Cade Cunningham. I remember talking a little junk to him his rookie year. Like, "Oh man, you ain't it." He's like, "What? I ain't it? I ain't what?" Like, so I love to see it, man. Like to see him come into his own, grow into the guy that he's growing into. Like what a perfect time to be becoming who you are and you got a Nike shoe about to release in the next 8 to 12 months. What a perfect time to prove everybody wrong that said, "Oh man, why they giving him a shoe? I don't think he quite that guy." What a perfect time to prove them all wrong. So shout out to Cade Cunningham, man. Keep going. Love to fucking see it. Anthony Edwards says Memphis hotel rooms are dirty. Said when we go to Memphis, I be like, damn, them hotels ain't nothing in Memphis. Them shits be dirty. I walked into a Memphis hotel one time, I had stains and shit on the bed. Listen, here's what I'll say. I've spent a lot of time in Memphis. More time than most because I've played them in multiple playoff series. And then there's like these little rivalries that people wanted to create. So we would play them a couple times a year. So I've spent a lot of time in Memphis. And the hotels aren't the best. They aren't quite the hotels when you're in LA or Houston or Miami or Atlanta or Detroit or Portland or OKC or— Memphis. Indianapolis or Toronto or New York or Philly or Boston or DC or Charlotte or Orlando or San Antonio or Dallas or Phoenix. You get the gist. Memphis definitely has the worst hotel, um, worst hotels in the league. No question. They just don't have the bigger brand hotels like all the rest of the NBA cities do. And Detroit don't have the biggest brand hotels either, although they're starting to come to Detroit, but they have nice hotels, you know? And so they don't have the bigger brands there. Like, it's just not, it's not your typical NBA city. So I get what, I've never had many, issues like that, like stains in my bed. But you know, like for instance, you stay in a hotel in Memphis, there's no room service, you know, and different things like that. You know, like there's no spa, there's— and not to sound like a pampered kid or a pampered guy, although not pampered, just kind of worked our asses off to have a lot. Um.— but it's just not great. Like all of the things that you're accustomed to having in a hotel room or a hotel when you're traveling in the NBA, their hotels just don't have. And so Ant-Man's pretty blunt about it. But yes, they— I think they may have the worst group of hotels in the league. For sure. We had an issue there where we used to stay at one hotel in Memphis and this dates back. We stopped staying there because their sprinklers just went off for no reason in the room and like drenched all the Andrew Bogan stuff. Like the sprinkler system, like it was a fire, just went off, drenched all Bogan's stuff. And they didn't, they didn't wanna do anything about it. So we switched hotels then, right? So it's been an issue. It's gotten a little better, I must say, but it's not, it's still not the other cities. So we'll see what happens in Memphis with the hotels, I guess. Welcome back to our weekly segment of 3 Things with Draymond. Every week we do 3 things. What I enjoyed off the court, what caught my eye online, and something that I witnessed that showed real true toughness out in the world. And number 1, I'll start with my most fun I had off the court was All-Star break. All-Star break with my family. And I also got to play a bunch of golf on All-Star break. It was great. We kind of do the same thing every All-Star break. My kids, ironically, every year they have this like President's Day break, President's Week break. Every year it aligns with All-Star. And so we kind of do the same thing just about every year. We go away on a little vacation. And you know, kind of get to a point sometimes where you like, "Oh, maybe I need a vacation without the kids." But they so into it and they look forward to it. So it's kind of stuck at the way it is. But I love it, I enjoy it. And it was fun spending time with the fam. I got better on the course this week. Like I got, I made some dramatic improvements. And anybody who golfs know next week you get out there and like, You forgot how to hold the club. So my golf journey is, it's active and it's going, but it has a long way to go. Needless to say, that was some of the most fun I had this week. Number 2, what stopped my scroll this week, which is what I hope stopped a bunch of Americans scroll. Yeah. The men's and women's gold medal matches versus Canada, we won in OT in both of them. It's the first time since 1980, if I'm not mistaken, that the United States, yes, it is 1980, it's 46 years that the United States has won gold in men's hockey. And so shout out to the men, shout out to the ladies. Shout out to the ladies. Bringing home the gold, dominating the Winter Olympics like that on the ice. Beautiful to see. You know, we got a lot of Canadians that work in our building, you know? And so it was important that we took them down. And I loved every bit of it. Big shout out to Macklin and Rick Celebrini. Macklin playing his first Olympics, making the All-Star team of the Olympics. You know, Rick's been over there with the family watching Macklin and it's been beautiful to watch, man. Macklin has become the face of hockey. Like literally face of the NHL. Obviously you got Connor McDavid, right? Sid the Kid, Alex Ovechkin, they all, but Mack is becoming the face. Like they know who they're passing it off to. And it's a beautiful thing to see. Y'all know I'm a big Mac fan. Was rooting for Mac, but I obviously wanted Team USA to win. And so Team USA got the gold. Like I told y'all, when you've won a gold medal, anytime USA is going for a gold, it just hits a little bit different. Hits a little different. Hits a little different. So I woke up at 5 o'clock this morning, to watch that game. And I didn't regret it one bit. What a game. It was fast. It was physical. Like it was everything you would want out of a Canada-US gold medal game. So shout out to those guys. Congratulations to the men and women's hockey team on their gold medals. Lastly, each week, like I said, I'll share something I saw on the court, in the real world, or news that demonstrated real toughness to me. And honestly, I think my moment is, or what I wanna speak about is a little differently. Obviously we've all seen what's going on in Mexico. And I just wanted to wish everybody, send my well wishes to everyone. Everyone that could be involved, whether you're an American citizen, whether you're a Mexican citizen dealing with the unrest, just hope everyone's safe. I wanted to send my love. Anytime you got things blowing up, you got people being killed, it's just never good. Ultimately, there's always someone dealing with the losses. There's someone, there's some family affected by the losses. And so, tough, tough situation. And I just wanted to send my love to everybody in Mexico. Hope everyone's safe. Gracias. Hopefully they can get it all figured out, but just wanted to send my love. I never want to see unrest anywhere. I've been in some situations and some places where unrest has broken out and it's just uncomfortable for everyone. And so just wanted to send my well wishes and my love. And to all Americans that are there, I hope you all make it back home safely. Sheltering in place. Hope everything's— [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] We'll be fine.
