In this commentary, Draymond Green reacts to a leaked report—attributed to Shams—that incorrectly announced Shai Gilgeous‑Alexander (SGA) as the NBA MVP, with Victor Wembanyama placed third. Green condemns the leak as embarrassing and indicative of poor league organization. He then examines the emotional and psychological ramifications for Wembanyama and the Oklahoma City Thunder, noting that receiving an MVP award can be a heavy emotional burden right before a crucial conference‑final game. Green argues that while the Thunder already have strong motivation as one of the final four teams, the immediate aftermath of the award could cause a short‑term dip in focus and performance. He predicts OKC may struggle to maintain composure against the opponent, emphasizing the need to manage emotions and reset quickly.

SGA officially wins the NBA MVP Award with Joker finishing second and Wemby finishing third. There was a discrepancy with this. Shams leaked it. It's actually embarrassing. It makes our league look like we have no organization. Like, that's child's play. Now you got the game. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be presented the award and Wemby's on the other side. However, it is tough emotionally to see your guy get that award and then reset and go play that game right away. It gets tough. We shall see how OKC handle it. But I would not be surprised if OKC struggles a bit coming out in this game because you just trying to get over the emotions of watching your guy do some incredible things. And it's tough at times. So we'll see how they handle it. You don't need any more motivation.
