In this video excerpt, Draymond Green recounts the on‑court bench confrontation with Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. He explains that, in the heat of the moment, he asked Kerr to take him out of the game and voluntarily left the bench to de‑escalate the situation. Green emphasizes that the decision was mutually agreed upon by the coaching staff, players, and the organization, and he frames his self‑removal as the responsible choice for the team’s benefit, countering media narratives that portray him as volatile. He stresses that walking away prevented further escalation and was ultimately judged as the right action by everyone involved.

We agreed in the moment, take me out, I'm removing myself. I left the bench because I thought it was the right thing to do. I love how people's like, "Oh man, he left the bench, he walked away." I think the best thing to do for human beings is to remove yourself from the heated situation for the sake of the team. Contrary to popular talking heads, it was the right thing to do. If I sit there and argue and yell and curse, do all of these things and go at it, and me and Steve go, go, Then people say, "Draymond is crazy. He's wrong." But when I walk away from the confrontation and remove myself from the confrontation, because I didn't walk away, I said, "Coach, take me out." He said, "Great." I did not storm off. We agreed in the moment. Take me out. I'm removing myself. And everybody who was a part of that moment, coaching staff, players, organizationally, thinks it was the right thing to do. Yeah.
