In this brief commentary, NBA player Draymond Green recounts a viral in‑game encounter with a fan nicknamed “Mr. Whammy” who was standing near the basket during a Brooklyn Nets home game. Green describes spotting the fan before his first free‑throw, making that shot so he could approach the fan and tell him to sit down, which he does while laughing with teammate Jimmy. He notes that the interaction added pressure on his second free‑throw, fearing a crowd reaction if he missed, though the home‑court atmosphere mitigated the backlash. Green admits he intended to speak with the fan after the game but completely forgot, ending the anecdote with appreciation for the unique moment.

The interaction with Mr. Whammy, I don't think it's fair for someone to come stand next to the rim and like throw up gang signs. Like, I think it's crazy that they just let this old man come and stand right next to the rim, not in a seat, not in the aisle. So I see him before the first free throw. So I tell myself, I gotta make this free throw so I can tell him to sit his old shit down. So I made the first free throw and I walk over to him like, hey man. "Sit your ass down." So me and Jimmy cracking up laughing. But once I told him to sit down like that, it was so much pressure on me to make the next free throw. If I miss the next free throw, they go crazy in there. Actually, they don't go crazy because it's a Brooklyn Nets game, which is a home game for whatever team they're playing. But that was an incredible moment. Needless to say, I actually wanted to go talk to Mr. Webby after the game and I just completely forgot. But that was a fun interaction. I appreciate allowing me to have that interaction. That was great.
