In this interview clip, Draymond Green discusses comments made by Coach Steve Kerr on the Tom Tolbert Show regarding two new expectations for the upcoming season. Kerr emphasizes that the team can no longer afford the previous tolerance for high turnover rates, specifically calling out Green and Steph Curry as players who previously received a "pass" because of their ball‑handling responsibilities. Green acknowledges the shift, noting that the coaching staff now expects him to be more careful with the ball. Additionally, Kerr has asked Green to increase his catch‑and‑shoot three‑point attempts, a request that is new for Green. He describes his reaction—initial surprise, followed by a mindset change to focus on being ready for open looks and improving shooting rhythm. Green frames both directives as opportunities to improve efficiency and shooting percentages, while expressing acceptance of the coach’s new expectations.

Steve Kerr discussed what he wants to see out of me this season on the Tom Tolbert Show. Reduced turnovers is actually something that we've been talking about quite a bit. We used to be a team that turned the ball over a bunch and it kind of didn't matter due to the talent level, the skill level that we had on our team. Steve used to always tell us, he's like, Steph and Draymond gonna turn the ball over more than everybody else, and I'm gonna give them room to turn the ball over more than everybody else because they have the ball so much. They're making plays for everyone. That's crazy. Kind of where that comes from. And he said to us, just FYI, I'm no longer giving you guys a pass to turn the ball over more than everyone else. Noted. Gotcha, Coach. Cool. As far as shooting the 3s, for the first time in my career, Coach Kerr told me towards the end of last year, I want you shooting the 3. And I was like, oh shit. Even when I was shooting the ball great, it was just something that I had never heard. And now, you know, being able to go into the season with that mindset of like, yo, I catch, I'm open, I'm firing. Ultimately it's gonna help my shooting percentages because we don't want it to be a bunch of different motions to where you're getting into your shot. And I can take more rhythm 3s.
