In this YouTube commentary, NBA player Draymond Green discusses Myron Gardner's habit of engaging with opponents from the bench during games, using a recent matchup against the Miami Heat as a case study. Green notes Gardner's repeated conversations with the bench after making shots, referencing a prior incident in November where Gardner forced Kerrion Butler to apologize to Klay Thompson after a bench altercation. Green speculates that this confrontational style could help Gardner secure a regular NBA contract, but also warns that it may make him a target among other players, especially when he underperforms. He emphasizes that such behavior can distract Gardner from the game and potentially backfire, leaving him unprepared for the heightened scrutiny and pressure that comes with being a focal point of on‑court drama.

Back in November, Klay Thompson got into it with someone on the Miami Heat bench. And you may remember, Kerrion Butler made the young fella go apologize to Klay Thompson. That was Myron Gardner. Could be earning his way onto a regular contract with that type of attitude. I don't, you don't know how it's being accepted in his organization. His organization may feel like they need that from him. All of a sudden he get a contract, you know? And so the other guys around the NBA is gonna see it. You know, other players around the NBA when they're playing him, when they're playing the Miami Heat and they get an opportunity to say something to him, especially if he playing and he ain't playing well, Guys from the bench gonna be killing. Like, they're gonna talk bad about it. So then he gonna spend his time talking to them, not focused on the game. All these things, right? So you end up putting a target on your back. 'Cause I see a lot of guys do things to put that target on their back, and then they realize, oh shit, I ain't ready for that target on my back. Woo!
