What's up, everybody? Welcome back to the Draymond Green Show. On today's show, with the NFL season fully underway, I thought it'd be fun and interesting to share some NFL-NBA comparisons, player comps, creating teams, just a little fun episode getting ready for this Sunday football. So let's get right into it. Now, starting off, the reason I thought about this is because, you know, you look at certain examples like Steph Curry and his player comp being Patrick Mahomes. So you think about the way Steph reinvented the way basketball is played. And you look at Patrick Mahomes. When you look at college quarterbacks, Dylan Raiola in particular, who had a huge weekend coming off the bench, perfect game off the bench, has a lot of people saying he should be playing over Dante Moore. That's Steph Curry, and you know that's Patrick Mahomes. You know you look at the way it's all been changed. You know Patrick Mahomes throwing behind the back passes, and you know you look at you look at Steph shooting threes from half court, shooting threes from the tunnel. The creativity that they bring to the game is is a completely different thing, and I think. The— obviously, you know, you— the 2 light-skinned guys, um, you know, they're both wholesome in the way they go about their lives. Uh, they both have that clutch gene. With both of those guys with the ball down the stretch, like, you're already like, all right, we know how this is ending. They bring that similar flair. Obviously, they played in the match, uh, in the golf match on TNT. You know, there's a lot of things that, you know, You know, same hair color, everything. There's a lot of things that goes into the makeup of these 2 guys that, you know, makes for a great comparison. But, you know, in, in light of those 2 always being compared, obviously both being the face of dynasties, you know, there's a lot of things that bonds these 2 together. But anyway, when you look at that comparison, I thought it'd be fun to You know, make a list of NBA/NFL player comps. So let's get right into that. First off, you know, you think of MVPs in the NFL and who the star marquee guys are, and you first up, you got to go with Lamar Jackson. Now, this guy does not have an MVP award, but obviously several All-Star appearances, All-NBA appearances, and all the things. And ultimately, You hope that he one day gets an MVP, but I'm going to go— my comparison for Lamar Jackson is Anthony Edwards. Ant-Man, you're talking a guy who has the explosiveness, is as explosive as anyone in the NBA. Lamar Jackson is as explosive as anyone in the NFL. Big playability. Ant-Man, big playability. Ant-Man will come down the lane and put a guy on the poster, but— He's just doing his thing, right? Still a great player without the posters, but has that ability like a Lamar Jackson. Still 2 guys that haven't gotten over the hump. You know, they've been guys who's had their teams in the playoffs every year, get to the, you know, conference championship, all those things, but hasn't quite gotten over the hump. But special, special talents that you want on your team that ultimately you do feel like is going to get over the hump. And that's my comparison for Lamar Jackson and Ant-Man. Like, you just— you're talking guys who run their teams, you know, has the ability to run the team. But that big playability is what I think creates this comparison between Lamar Jackson and Anthony Edwards. Myles Garrett's NBA comp is a fascinating one because Myles Garrett can control an entire game from the defensive line position. Myles Garrett is a complete freak of nature. Myles Garrett, like, you can't— this guy is created in a lab. My Myles Garrett comp is Giannis Antetokounmpo. Now obviously Giannis has been compared to a running back, so I could be a little off with my comparison here, being that I'm not comparing Giannis Antetokounmpo to a running back. Needless to say, the sheer force, sheer power, uh, sheer athleticism, sheer will and determination Miles Garrett and Giannis, to me, both absolute freaks in nature. Defensive Player of the Year awards on both sides. Obviously, Giannis is great offensively as well. This won't be an apples-to-apples comparison because in basketball, you do play both sides of the ball. You don't play one side of the ball. Needless to say, Giannis Antetokounmpo, like, there's no other player in the NBA that I can think that has the sheer power and force and skill, uh, that Myles Garrett has outside of Giannis Antetokounmpo, which is why he is a couple-time MVP, uh, Defensive Player of the Year. You know, MVP, this comparison, like, there is not another guy you can find in the NBA to compare to Myles Garrett. Has to be Giannis Antetokounmpo. Next up, Justin Jefferson. You're talking to a guy who's, I think, is the best receiver in the league. It's definitely him or Ja'Marr Chase. But Justin Jefferson, you're talking to a guy who hasn't been on several different teams but has had several different quarterbacks. And regardless of the quarterback situation, Justin Jefferson is Justin Jefferson now. Obviously, there were some tough times in there where he had the scumbag JJ McCarthy as his quarterback. And it's just gonna get tough. Like, that's tough. It's like not having a point guard. But regardless, you have to plan for this guy. You have— your scheme better be crazy. I don't care who's at quarterback. Your scheme better be crazy for him or he's gonna absolutely annihilate your defense. Justin Jefferson's NBA comparison for me is none other than Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant, we've now seen on Oklahoma City Thunder. We've now seen on the Golden State Warriors, the Brooklyn Nets. The Phoenix Suns and the Houston Rockets. Regardless of who are the players around him, regardless of what color jersey he's in, Kevin Durant is going to give you buckets. Now, obviously, if there's a great point guard around him or if there's a great person or player around him that can help him get into his spots better, it's going to be all the more Damaging to the opposing team. However, regardless of who's around him, them buckets are gonna be counted. Uh, them buckets will be gotten. Kevin Durant, I don't give a damn what team he's on, he's putting up numbers. And that to me is Justin Jefferson. Uh, Justin Jefferson, your scheme better be great against him. I don't care how bad the team is. I don't care how bad the other— the opposing players around him is. Your scheme better be great to stop him. If not, he will run circles around you. And that is none other than Kevin Durant. This one I went back and forth with a little bit, uh, just because of the sheer force and power that this guy plays with. But Christian McCaffrey, uh, you know, Christian McCaffrey will get in between the tackles. Christian McCaffrey has the speed to break runs open. Christian McCaffrey Is extremely smart, which Christian McCaffrey has struggled with injury a bit at times throughout his career, needless to say. Uh, not a, not, not a crazy amount, but he has struggled with some injuries at times. And I think in large part that is due to the explosiveness, that is due to, uh, his nature of running. He will put his body on the line every single time. You know, he drives, he, he, he runs in between the tackles. It don't matter what size he is or what size they are. He's going through there with the same approach every single time. And if he get completely flatlined, he's going to go through the next gap with the same approach every single time. That to me is none other than Ja Morant. Ja Morant, no matter, you know, obviously he's had some injury issues, but the explosiveness, the smarts, the willingness to put his body on the line every single time. Ja Morant is going to go in the lane. He's going to try to dunk on you. You're going to lay him on his ass. The next play, he's going to come in the lane. He's going to jump and try to dunk on you. That to me is Christian McCaffrey. With that type of tenacity, with that, I'm going at it every single time. I don't care what you do. I don't care what the final result is. I have that confidence in me that I'm going every single time. Those 2 guys, you have to compare them. Obviously, both guys that again gotten their team in the playoffs. Has played through injuries, has continued to be that force. And yet ultimately, 2 guys that you think and hope will eventually get over that hump as far as winning the championship. But these 2 guys right here, I think is a great comparison just with the sheer athleticism, but the determination and will that I don't care what happens. I'm so confident in me and my abilities that I'm going to try that again every single time. I wanna tell you about Zapli.

It vacuums and mops my home, but where do the videos go from the camera? Nowhere.
Everything it captures stays on the machine in my house. It's not sitting on some server waiting for somebody to look at it. You know what a regular robot vacuum does? It bumps into your furniture. It's guessing what to clean. It's out there hoping to figure it out. But Matic sees. With 5 cameras, it reads the room the way you read a room. That's a chair.
That's a cord.
That's a shoe.
Go around it. I made a whole career out of seeing the floor before anybody else did.
So I know the difference between something that's reacting and something that actually knows what it's looking at. And when my kids make messes like kids do, I'm not pulling out my phone, hunting for an app to have it clean. I point at the mess, I say, Matic, clean this, and it understands me. It actually understands over 75 languages.
So whoever's in my house can run it. Anyone in the house can run it, and they will love it.

Arguably the best cornerback in the league.
Is our—
we'll bring in our next comparison, Patrick Surtain. And I have to go with Patrick Surtain. You talking to a guy who has the athleticism, who has the will and the mindset to completely shut down one side of the field, to completely shut down your best receiver. Pat Surtain will follow his guy around the field. And that leads me, when you're talking athleticism, when you're talking sheer will and determination, Talking, I wanna be great. I'm gonna put the work in. Head down. Never hear no bullshit about them. Always locked into the game. Asar Thompson, I think, is a great comparison for Patrick Surtain. Like I said, you're talking sheer athleticism. You're talking a guy who can completely take someone out of the game. Lockdown corner. Follow you around the court. Completely overwhelm you. That is Asar Thompson. First Team All-Defense. Right there in the Defensive Player of the Year.
Voting.
I love this comparison, uh, because you're talking like these guys will make it hard on your superstar receiver, this guy will make it hard on your superstar guard. And to me, uh, when you're trying to build winning teams, you have to have that type of guys. Hence the fact both of those teams had great years last year. I think, uh, those 2 guys are right at the center of that, being who they are defensively and how they can make it Very challenging on other teams' opposing stars. Next up in our player comparisons, we got a dominant force coming off the edge. You talking a guy who's a complete freak of nature, a guy who can dominate a game defensively. Also a guy who's gotten paid really well, a lot like this other guy. But you're, you know, All-Star, Pro Bowler. Will Anderson. Will Anderson has been incredible since the time he stepped foot in the league, dominating off the edge. Sure athleticism, sure force, sure power, and a lot of skill, a lot of technique to that. And my NBA comp for Will Anderson is Bam Adebayo. You know, you're talking Bam, 6'9, can move around, can guard multiple positions, has the finesse, has the power, has the explosiveness. You know, I really like this comparison. You know, again, 2 guys that hasn't quite gotten over the hump yet, but it's been right there. You know, the way both of these guys approach the game, it's like both of them have the power to run through you.
Yeah.
Yet both of them has the finesse and skill to intertwine that with the power and create this physical specimen, this physical being, this force of nature. And that's why I like the Will Anderson comparison with Bam Adebayo. This next one, I think they, they are alike in more ways than one. They are champions. They are faces of the franchise. They both have won in the Finals and lost in the Finals. When you watch their interviews, very well put together. crispy hairlines, you name it. They're both in the northeastern part of the United States. Jalen Hurts and Jayson Tatum. You know, these are 2 guys who you can never find anything wrong. They do everything right. They're always well put together. They are incredible faces of the franchise. They both have led their franchises to championships. All-Star after All-Star after All-Star, um, yet always questioned. Pro Bowl after Pro Bowl, Super Bowl, Pro Bowl, always questioned. Uh, never quite given their due respect for who they are. I think neither one of these guys are going to be in your face with, with what they do, right? So they're not going to talk a big game. They're not going to do that. They're just going to go about their business. And like I said, This comparison, it's, it's in more ways than just the talent. But yet, like I said, their talent is always going to be questioned by people. And I just don't understand it. Like, they could be— I saw some stats last week of Jalen Hurts and where he are in his career and Peyton Manning and where he was in his career then. And if you listen to the way Jalen Hurts spoke about now, One could say, oh man, but Jalen Hurts, you know, um, or one would try to say, well, Jalen Hurts didn't have the resume that Peyton Manning had, except Jalen Hurts is also a champion and became a champion quicker in his career than Peyton Manning did. Not on here making an argument that Jalen Hurts is better than Peyton Manning. My point is, regardless of where he is or how good he is, he'll never get his due respect. And it's the same thing with Jayson Tatum. 2 guys that just never quite get the respect for what they put out there every day. And so I think this comparison is, is, is too great in more ways than one. But like I said, the part that you cannot underestimate as a Black man with these 2 comparisons, them brothers got 2 of the crispiest hairlines you gonna ever see. But they are a lot alike when it comes to these sports. Next up on our NBA comparisons, we got Joe Burrow. Uh, my Joe Burrow comparison— you think Joe Burrow, one of the most skilled and talented quarterbacks in the league, uh, a guy who's gotten his team right there on the brink, couldn't quite get over the hump, uh, a guy who's dealt with a lot of injuries, uh, when he is on the field, absolutely incredible player, uh, one of the best in the business. But has struggled with injury a bit, but can make any throw. There's not a throw on a football field that Joe Burrow can't make. The confidence that he approaches the game with is very similar to his NBA comparison. And when they're on the— when they're on the field, when they're on the court, you know, they are a force to be reckoned with. Joel Embiid, talking to NBA MVP, one of the more skilled players in our league. It's not a move he can't make on the court, not a shot he can't make on the court. Has struggled with injury quite a bit, hasn't quite been able to get his team over the hump. This comparison here, you know, hate that both of these guys are dealing— have dealt with the injuries that they've dealt with because you ultimately end up feeling like you're not able to get the full experience of what these guys will bring to the league. Had they not struggled with the injuries that they struggled with. But I think this comparison is incredible. You're talking one of the more talented quarterbacks, one of the more talented and skilled NBA players that both ultimately haven't quite reached their peak due to dealing with a lot of injuries. Next up on our player comp list, we got Amon-Ra St. Brown. Amon-Ra St. Brown is a physical specimen. who has worked to be that specimen. You look at the things that his dad has said, you know, and how he worked his boys and who Amon-Ra has become. You're talking about someone that puts up a lot of numbers since the time he's walked into the league. If you, if you look at Amon-Ra's stats and you start comparing them to who everyone says are top receivers in the NFL, Amon-Ra's stats is right up there with them, if not better. A guy who, no matter what, continues night in and night out, day in and day out, get those numbers throughout their entire career. My comparison for Amar'e St. Brown is Donovan Mitchell. Donovan Mitchell is a guy who since Utah, uh, has been putting up those numbers. From a team standpoint, hasn't quite been able to get over the hump, uh, but the— what, what is consistent with these guys are the numbers, no matter what. You look at Amon-Ra's numbers, you look at Donovan Mitchell's numbers, they're getting it done. Won't really be considered as one of the top 2 or 3 wide receivers in the league. Won't really be considered as one of the top guards in the league, but the numbers are consistent. Uh, the force that they play with is consistent. So I really like this comparison. And again, ultimately 2 guys you hope to see eventually get over the hump. My Spartan dog, Kirk Cousins. NBA player comp. I have to go with Tobias Harris. You're talking a guy who hasn't quite— who hasn't quite cracked superstar level, but has been a consistent player in the league for many, many, many years. But let me tell you where these 2 guys Really, really compare. Regardless of never quite getting the superstar tag, regardless of never quite being the face of the franchise, these guys have made bigger bags than just about anyone. You know, when you look at the resumes that these 2 guys have, and by the way, both have incredible professional resumes. But it's not lined with all NBA awards and, you know, a bunch of All-Star awards, a bunch of Pro Bowl awards, a bunch of First Team All-Pro awards. Their resumes aren't lined with that, but their pockets are. And if you look at their careers, the totality of their careers, they've consistently put the numbers up wherever they've gone. But they've consistently got the money wherever they've gone. So I love this player comp of Kirk Cousins and Tobias Harris. Like I said, from a, from a play perspective, but also how them boys have stacked that chicken. Gotta give both of them credit and their agents. Last but not least on the player comp list is Fred Warner. I think the way Fred Warner at Mike linebacker can completely fuck up an offense With, with, you know, he's not— hasn't been your typical linebacker and yet created this path and became great. I would say Fred Warner player comp is none other than myself. A guy who will absolutely fuck up your entire team's offense. Not quite the status quo of what everyone was looking for at that position, and yet come out, kind of recreate, you know, everybody's looking for the next Fred Warner. Kind of recreate that space, you know. Played a position to such a high level that everybody's looking for that next one, but wasn't touted that way. Got it out the mud and became that. So Fred Warner's player comp, none other than myself, Draymond Green. The Draymond Green Show is brought to you by Mod.
Mod prescribes a once or twice daily modafinil drink that can keep you energized, focused, and alert throughout the day. Here's the mechanism: energy drinks with caffeine temporarily block adenosine, the chemical that makes you tired. It builds up, and when the caffeine wears off, it all crashes down on you at once. Modafinil works differently. It engages multiple pathways in your brain— dopamine, norepinephrine, histamine, and orexin— to achieve steady energy and alertness for 10 to 12 hours. Modafinil was invented in the 1970s, and since then, it's been used by the highest performers on and off the planet. Soldiers, pilots, and astronauts aboard the space station use modafinil in high-stakes situations where full concentration and alertness are paramount. Staying in the zone of NFL and NBA, um, for the sake of this exercise, we're gonna build a team, but we're only gonna do certain positions. Uh, obviously we won't do D-line. Well, we'll do D-end, but we won't do, you know, nose tackle, D-tackle, and we won't do offensive linemen outside of tight ends. So we got D-ends and tight ends, but we're gonna create an NFL team based on skill positions. Uh, first up at quarterback, uh, I think you got— you have to have a great quarterback. You have to have a great leader. Uh, you have to have a guy who is smart, um, who does not back down, who the team can follow that guy's lead. And at quarterback, I am going to go with my 2 quarterbacks. Steph Curry and Jalen Brunson. Now, I think you have to have 2 great quarterbacks on your roster. Um, they must have big playability. They must have championship-winning capabilities. Uh, they must be able to stand and be the face of the franchise because quarterbacks In most instances, our face of the franchise. You look at Steph Curry, you look at Jalen Brunson. These are two guys keep everything clean, keep everything about the game. There's never any bullshit around their name. Just like quarterbacks, you know, both of these guys have led their teams to championship. Both of these guys are guys that teams players will follow. Both of these guys are. guys that organizations and cities rally around. I got none other than at my quarterback position, Steph Curry and Jalen Brunson. At running back, you need a guy explosive, uh, big playability, uh, willing to go through the trenches, don't give a fuck what nobody think, yet got the speed to break away. I'm going none other than Anthony Edwards at running back. I think Anthony Edwards is your Jahmyr Gibbs. Anthony Edwards is your Bijan Anthony Edwards is your Kenneth Walker. I'm going with Anthony Edwards at running back. At wide receiver, we got on the outside, you need physical specimens. Think Megatron. Guys who can go downfield, break the defense open. Guys who are physical enough that if they have to go across the middle, they can do that. You need youth. You need smarts. You need experience. You need all that at the wide receiver position. At my wide receiver position, I got LeBron James and Cooper Kupp. OK.
These—
both of these guys down the field, you can throw jump ball up. I mean, imagine trying to cover these 2 guys on the side, on both sides of the field. You get down the field, you just throw it up on either side. Both of these guys has, has the athleticism, the speed, and are capable— and the frames capable of going up there and getting any ball. As well as, like I said, if they need to go across the middle, The tenacity that these guys play with, the dog that both of these guys have, I feel great about my team at the wide receiver position. At tight end, you need a guy who can go out there, who can make plays, who can get a bucket, a guy who can, you know, um, can block on the inside, but yet can go out there and catch the ball and move around like a wide receiver can. At tight end, I got Nas Reid, 6th Man of the Year. Nas Reid scored a basketball. Goes in the trenches and rebounds the basketball. Uh, you know, when you look at a tight end needing to block— now, Nas, love Nas Reid, want to see Nas Reid defend a little bit more. Needless to say, we're talking tight end, we're talking offense, we're talking ball skills. I don't know that there's many bigs in the NBA with better ball skills and handles as Nas Reid. I'm going Nas Reid at tight end. Switching to the defensive side of the ball, we got at DN. Uh, you got Giannis Antetokounmpo, sure will, sure force, sure power, finesse on one side of the line. On the other side of the line, you got another freak of nature, uh, the alien Victor Wembanyama. Obviously, I'm not talking from a frame standpoint. I'm talking of sheer dominance, getting to the quarterback, blocking every shot. Um, Wemby, from a defensive standpoint, Impacting the game the way he does. I'm going Giannis and Wemby on both sides at defensive end. Again, not talking frame. These are basketball frames. They're not going to be football frames. They're built completely different. I'm talking about the production. I got Wemby on the other edge. Giannis on one, Wemby on the other. At linebacker, starting at linebacker, at Mike linebacker, yours truly. Draymond Green.
At— on one—
on the other side of the linebackers, we got Dillon Brooks. On the other side, we got Lou Dort. You're talking 3 guys who's bringing force no matter what. 3 guys who are smart, uh, can read plays. 3 guys who will run up and fill the hole to stop the run. 3 guys who, if needed to drop back in coverage, Can drop back in coverage. At linebacker, myself, Dylan Brooks, and Lou Dort. Really like this linebacker corps. You talking about, man, I would hate to see some, some running backs run up against this linebacker corps. It would be hell to pay. Love this. This is probably the favorite part of my team, by the way. Not to be biased to myself, but man, can you imagine? That linebacker core, I like that. At cornerback, you think Ronde Barber, obviously Tiki, obviously Tiki Barber was a running back, but let's think brothers, let's think twins, Asar Thompson and Aman Thompson. You're talking 2 guys, complete freaks of nature. Athleticism that they're going to bring on the outside is insane. The force that they play with, you're talking 2 guys with breakaway speed that can turn and run with these wide receivers. I like that. I like these 2 guys shutting down the field outside that corner. Hard to pick one and not the other. Both have big play capabilities. Both can go up and get interceptions. Both can take one to the house. I like Asar and Aman at my cornerbacks.
At safety, Jaylen Brown.
Guy who loves to defend. Physical specimen. Can roam all over the field. Jaylen Brown, you think Troy Polamalu. Jaylen Brown can come down to the line of scrimmage, blitz the quarterback, and get a sack. Jalen Brown can run with any receiver. Jalen Brown, if you move him down, you know, and, and he's kind of lined up at linebacker, has the speed to still get back to the safety position. And Jalen Brown, a force. Jalen Brown will come up and crash a wide receiver going across the middle. I like Jalen Brown. And then at free safety, Alex Caruso, not quite as physical as Jalen Brown, uh, but Smart, can see the field, will cover up for mistakes, uh, fast, good size. I like Alex Caruso at safety.
And then last but not least, the kicker.
A true specialist, uh, one-trick pony doing one thing and that's it. Duncan Robinson. I also think, you know, Duncan Robinson, uh, you know, he went to Michigan, so those guys aren't as tough, you know, which I think the kicker position fits him well. One-trick pony getting the job done. He's scoring the way that he scores, just like the kicker does. I got Duncan Robinson as my kicker. And that is my team made up of NBA players. I would love to know what y'all think on social about my team. Even, you know what, shoot me your team on social, on Threads. Come holla at me on Threads. Shoot me your team. Let me know what you think, what you, what you like, what you don't like. Who I miss, who you would've loved to have. Looking for all of that on Threads. But nonetheless, that is my NFL team. Now, before we get outta here, I wanted to share the QB that I would most want to play with and the NFL coach that I'd most wanna play for. Uh, and the NFL quarterback that I would most want to play with is Josh Allen. The reason I would wanna play with Josh Allen, and I think Josh Allen talent level is as high as anyone in the league. I also think Josh Allen does not have the thing to ultimately get you over the hump. I think his talent level, he a dog, but there's something missing from the leadership aspect for him to get over the hump. And the reason I would love to play with him, because if you give me that type of talent and he need a dog, he need a leader to help him get over the hump, that's where I come into play. I think Josh Allen is a dog. And that's why I would love to play with Josh Allen the most, because I just think what I as a teammate would be able to get out of Josh Allen, uh, to help him get over the hump. I think he'd be unstoppable. So that's why I picked Josh Allen. And the head coach that I would most want to play for is Andy Reid. Reason being, Andy Reid walk around no nonsense, but he seems like he got personality. Saw him get into it with Travis Kelce last year. He's like, oh, man, that shit don't matter. I'm not fazed by that. I love a coach like that. So oftentimes you get coaches that go in the media like, oh, that wasn't right, and they disrespected me as a coach. Man, everyone's grown men. Everyone has emotions. I just simply want to win. And I can always rock with that. So Big Red, Andy Reid, is the coach that I love to play for the most. Hope you all enjoyed this episode, and I hope you all enjoy football Sunday.
Peace.
