In this YouTube monologue, Draymond Green examines the surprising decision of 7‑foot center James Nnaji—selected 31st overall in the 2023 NBA Draft—to commit to Baylor University with immediate eligibility to play college basketball. Green questions whether Nnaji’s experience with FC Barcelona in the EuroLeague truly makes him a professional, warning that this could be “fool’s gold.” He argues that the move complicates the job of NBA front offices, which must now assess whether European‑trained players will translate to the NBA and avoid over‑valuing them. Green also highlights the ripple effect on high‑school prospects, noting that traditional college recruiting may diminish for non‑top‑tier players, pushing teams to look more toward the G League or overseas talent. Overall, he expresses skepticism about the long‑term impact of such eligibility decisions on scouting, draft strategy, and the development pipeline.
