In this short monologue, Draymond Green responds to Damian Lillard's recent remarks on "ring culture," asserting that championships are a major factor in how players are judged. Green acknowledges that while it is reasonable to devalue players without titles, the metric is largely justified because the sport's ultimate goal is winning. He praises Lillard's individual talent and character, but points out that Lillard has never played on a championship-caliber team, noting that a player's legacy is heavily influenced by the quality of the surrounding roster and the ability to reach the Western Conference Finals. Green concludes that winning a championship would dramatically solidify Lillard's achievements.

Dame made some comments as of late that I wanna touch on. And players are judged by if they win a championship or not. Very true. People definitely devalue what you've done if you don't win a championship. Quite frankly, I think in most cases it's warranted. Ultimately we play to win. Now I don't think that's the only thing, but you're— that is a big part of it. At times it does suck because I can appreciate Dame for everything Dame's done. I can appreciate Dame for who he is as a player, how incredible he is, and know that, I mean, at the end of the day, quite frankly, Dame has not played on a championship team. And it's no knock to Dame or CJ. Those guys were really doing it. But the rest of their roster, that was not a Western Conference Finals roster. Basketball minds and people that understand winning championships know it's about so much more than just Dame's performance. But I agree with Dame. You go win that championship, it 1,000% stamps everything he's done.
