Giannis and Ja Morant Injured, Derrick Rose Jersey Retired, & Best CBB Freshman Class EVER?!

In this episode of The Draymond Green Show, host Draymond Green opens with a candid account of the Warriors’ recent road trip to Minnesota, describing the city’s protests, a recent shooting, and the emotional weight of playing amid civil unrest. He then recaps the Warriors’ win over the Timberwolves, highlighting the team’s defensive intensity, hustle plays, and a humorous sideline exchange with Joe Ingles. Green provides injury updates on Ja Morant (UCL sprain) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf strain), analyzing how their absences could shape trade‑deadline strategies for Memphis and Milwaukee. He honors Derrick Rose’s jersey retirement in Chicago, emphasizing Rose’s cultural impact on the city. The conversation shifts to a deep dive into the current college‑basketball freshman class, noting multiple 40‑plus‑point performances and projecting draft implications. Finally, Green launches a new non‑basketball segment, “3 Things with Draymond,” sharing personal moments with his kids, a social‑media scroll‑stop about golfer Scottie Scheffler, and a reflective talk with Coach Steve Kerr about change, longevity, and the importance of “landing the plane smoothly” as his career winds down. The episode ends with promotional calls to action and production credits.

We landed at like 12-something because we had to get outta Dallas because there was an ice storm or snowstorm. I'm from Michigan, so we're not gonna call what Dallas got a snowstorm, but it rained all day and then it snowed, and so it turned into ice. So maybe we can call it an ice storm, but we will not call it a snowstorm. A snowstorm, it's what's going on in New Jersey and New York and— Yeah. Michigan, I think. DC, maybe. Not Dallas. They are, however, faced with an ice storm. And so we had to get outta Dallas pretty early, which dropped us in Minnesota pretty early. And we landed to protest. And I took some video from my room of the protest. It was interesting. But, you know, obviously that was on the day, excuse me, that was the day before the recent Minnesota, the ICE, or I think it was ICE agents killing here in Minnesota yesterday, Saturday, prior to our game. It was that morning. Draymond Green: Game ultimately got canceled. First, I wanna send my love, love from myself, from my family, to the family of Alex Predi. No one wants to bury a loved one. No one wants to turn on the news or open their phone and see their loved ones shot down. Just no one wants to deal with that. And so I wanna send my love and pay my respects. To Alex and, you know, to his family. Secondly, I wanna send my love to the Minnesota community, the state of Minnesota, the Minneapolis community. I wanna send my love. There's been some tough times here over the past 5 years, 5, 6 years. And, you know, it's like they keep having to deal with different things. And so I wish the community well. This community has always— Mm-hmm. Been nice to us, accepted us when we are here. They root for their team, but they are not disrespectful. I had a situation here a year ago. One bad apple doesn't spoil a bunch. And so I send my love to the greater Minneapolis community as they have to deal with another tragedy right in their neighborhoods, right in their downtown area. And I had an opportunity to speak with Joe Ingles after the game, who was right nearby trying to get breakfast when this happened. And, you know, trying to get out of the situation, you know? And so the trauma that that can cause, you know, Joe Ingles is Australian. Yeah. They don't really deal with things like this. So the trauma that that can cause. Also wishing Joe and his wife well also. He was good, obviously played in the game tonight. But to witness that, I can't even imagine. And so obviously we, our game was postponed yesterday, but we move into today. We got out there and played. Interestingly enough, a 2-minute drive, 2, 3-minute drive to the game for myself turned into a 17, 18-minute bus ride because we had to take an alternate route due to protests. And you know, obviously not bashing anyone's protest, but just explaining to you all kind of what it's been like to be in Minnesota over the weekend. Mm-hmm. With everything that's going on. You know, you hear the protests outside of the hotel throughout the day. Really busy, hard to move around throughout the day. And then honestly, when we got to the arena today, everything was just flat. Like it, and I get it, right? Like it just was like, man, like it's like a basketball game going on in the, in the middle of, I wouldn't say a war zone, but you know, just in the middle of social, civil, just unrest. And then you just drop this basketball game in the middle of it. And you could kind of feel it. You can feel the energy going into the game. We didn't quite have the energy. They didn't quite have the energy. We were able to find the energy pretty fast with like a couple hustle plays. Mm-hmm. But it's also not our community either that's suffering. And so it's been a weird few days here in Minnesota. Just really staying in a hotel, not going out to dinner at night, just to the gym and back. It's been a very interesting past 2 days. Yeah. Friday, really 3 days now, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, all, and we've been here all 3 days. It's needless to say, um, like I said, I wish their community well and I hope everyone can get things figured out and get things calmed down. Uh, you know, it's affecting a lot of people and a lot of things, so hopefully they can get everything figured out. Now, in saying that, getting into the game, uh, obviously Dubs was able to, you know, go in Target Center and get a nice win. You know, play well. I thought we played really well in the first half and we were up 1 at the end of the second quarter going into halftime. And you know, we got in halftime, you know, and coach said, "Hey man, that was a good half." You know, and you know, I think we're all sitting here like, man, we should be up by more points. He said, but fuck it, throw it out the window. It was a good half. We gonna go out here, we're gonna play a good second half and we're gonna go win this game. And that's exactly what we did. We came out, got off to a good start again in the third quarter and we were able to build on it and continue to build on it. And when we went to the bench, our second unit continued to build on that lead. By the time the third quarter ended, I think we were up 22 points. And so, You know, it was a good win for us. We had 20 steals, which ultimately were a part of 25 total turnovers that we were able to cause. And that was great. We needed a defensive performance like that after our last 2 defensive performances, one in Dallas and before that on the last game of the home stand versus Toronto on the second night of that back-to-back. Our defense was nonexistent. You know, our coach challenged us to, you know, yesterday in the meeting to get, you know, hey, things are good. Our offense has been going well, but we gotta get back to the defense that we've been, the top 10 defense that we've been all year. And I think that was the focus tonight. You know, Jacob Rubin did his scouting. He made, you know, some key adjustments that I think ultimately helped us out defensively. But, you know, he and Stackhouse just talking on the importance of what our defense needed to look like. And that constant communication throughout the game. And, you know, I think it was huge, you know, for us, first couple plays of the game, Steph dives on the floor, you know, which then leads to Moses Moody diving on the floor, which then leads to Brandon Przyjemski diving on the floor. It set a tone. When Steph dove on the floor for the loose ball, came up with the loose ball, and we got out and ran, it set a tone. And, you know, when your leader is doing things like that, the best player, one of the best players in the world, The great Steph Curry's diving on the floor for a loose ball, then everyone must dive on the floor for loose balls. And, and you know, I think we did a great job of coming up with, with, with a lot of the 50/50 balls. Like I said, diving for loose balls, getting our hands on turnovers, deflections that led to turnovers. And it was just a trickle-down effect. And we were able to build on that all night. Having a very strong second half to build on the strong first half we did have, although we didn't have much to show show for it. We also missed a lot of shots. We got up 31 threes in the first half and they were pretty much all good looks and they just didn't go down. Continue to stick with it. Let our defense lead the offense. And we started knocking the shots down in the second half. Got out, got some transition layups, which was big for us. We didn't have many transition points in Dallas, you know? So it was good to flip the page and kind of— Flip the page. Do the things that we knew was necessary to win, especially against a big team like the Minnesota Timberwolves. So thought we stuck to the game plan well. Funny moment in the game, speaking of Joe Ingles, Joe Ingles telling QP, "I'll slap the shit outta you." Old man Joe. Oh man. It's funny because, You know, the young guys, they only know old Joe. They don't know Joe that first came into the league 12, 13 years ago. They only know young Joe. I mean, old Joe. Young Joe was actually into stuff all the time, man. Young Joe would mix it up with you. That's the Australian way though. Like one thing an Aussie gonna do, they gonna mix it up with you. Like that is just who they are as a people. They got that tenacity, they play with that tenacity. It's funny to see Joe get out there and get into it with QP. Last couple minutes of the game. Needless to say, I thought that was a hilarious moment. Pat Spencer tapping on the chest like, "Hey man, chill out. Come on, man, come on." Was hilarious. Needless to say, like I said though, speaking to Joe Ingles again, just great to see him today. Happy he's safe. Yeah. And obviously doing what we are paid to do, what he loves to do. Man, hilarious moment though. And moving on, J.K. injured in the Dallas Maverick game, pushing a fast break, about to go up for a layup, rolled his ankle, kind of tweaked his knee as well. I think it's more of the knee than the ankle that's holding him out. Had an MRI, things came back structurally clean. So we're all happy about that. Yeah. Would be great to get him back sooner rather than later. You know, we're able to see what he's bringing to the table. He got off to a really good start in that Dallas game after playing a really good game versus the Timberwolves. I mean, excuse me, versus the Toronto— after playing a really good game versus the Toronto Raptors. You know, since he's been back in the lineup, he's been playing well, and we need him back out there on the floor with that athleticism. Hopefully it's not too long. I thought he was walking a lot better today than he had been the last couple days. But been seeing him in there getting his work in and doing his rehab and the things that he need to do to get back. Like I said, I don't know any timetable or anything, but it was encouraging to see him walking a little better today and obviously upbeat, as JK is always upbeat. So hopefully we can get him back sooner than later, but it was great. Seeing him back on the floor with us and looking forward to him getting back out there and wishing him a speedy recovery. The viral interaction with Steph, Klay, and myself talking. Y'all stay off my man BP, man. BP obviously played with Steph and I played with Klay. You know, he was coming to talk to Klay, but we were in the middle of a conversation. But y'all get off my man back. You know, he was just coming to show some love to Klay. You know, I think most people wouldn't have the feel to be like, you know what, I'm gonna just get the hell outta here. Like, I see him another time. So shout out to BP for having the feel to be like, you know what, these guys laughing and talking, which was really us laughing at Klay per usual. He got the hell outta there. But I saw everybody have a lot of fun with that moment. I thought it was pretty funny. People's reactions and things people were saying on threads. It was great to see. So fun moment. Enjoy seeing Klay as always. Wish we would've got the win. It's a tough night for us, but that was a funny moment. I'm happy y'all had fun with it. After the break, I'll go around the association and discuss the Jānis and Ja injuries, how that impacts the trade deadline, my favorite Derrick Rose story, and much, much more. Back right after this. As promised before the break, now we will move around the association. First up, trade deadline news. Ja and Giannis both injured, both out significant amount of time that will take us past the trade deadline. Giannis said he's out 4 to 6 weeks with a calf strain. Ja, I heard, is out 3 to 4 weeks with a UCL sprain in his elbow, left elbow. For those that don't know what UCL strain causes or UCL injury could cause, it's what you see pictures— when you see pitchers in the major leagues get a Tommy John surgery, it's that they're essentially getting— that's the ligament that Josh sprained. And so obviously affects pitchers differently with the way they throw, but nonetheless, it's very painful. For those that don't really know understand baseball, think LCL, PCL, ACL in your knee. These all type of ligaments that your elbow is essentially your knee for your arm. And so you got those similar ligaments. Jaws out with a UCL sprain. Interesting because obviously everyone already knows who Draymond Green is. And so if you were going to trade for him, I don't think a sprained UCL is changing that. If someone was going to trade for Ja, I think that would still go through. However, if anything that the injury does is it just may make someone who was going to trade for him a little more hesitant because you're like, ah man, there's another injury, right? Like, you know, we know Ja struggle with injuries. Yeah. Over the last couple years that's affected his ability to be on the floor. And so if anything, it may give someone a little cold feet of like, man, another one, you know? But like I said, we all know who Ja Morant is. We all know what Ja Morant is capable of. And I think if you were gonna trade for Ja Morant, no UCL sprain is stopping that. Yeah. But it is also a league of what have you done for me lately? And people, the mindset, the minds in this league move on fast. And so, you know, they could not be seeing him and like, ah, and it causes that. I don't know. What I do love is how Ja responded. To the news of them saying, "Oh man, Ja Morant, Memphis is, you know, listening to trade inquiries on Ja Morant for the first time in his career." I love how Ja responded. Ja responded not by bashing anyone, not by pouting or sulking about it. He responded by saying, "I love Memphis. I wanna be here. And I'm gonna keep playing hard and trying to help this team win 'cause this is where I wanna be and I love it here." And I respect that, you know, because the first time you hear your name come up in some trade talks, especially as a franchise player, like I can only imagine how that feels, you know? And like Ja Morant has a back against the wall mentality. So when you feel like someone's up against you, when you have that type of mentality, your first reaction, your first thought is like, fight back, stand tall. I'm gonna stand on my own 10, 10 toes. And, and that's, you know, and whatever come with that, come with that. But very mature response by Ja, which also is true. I know Ja Morant love Memphis. You know, Ja Morant embrace Memphis, the city of Memphis embrace Ja. And so, I believe that wholeheartedly, but like I said, the first time your name come up in something like that, you can get a little upset about it and emotional about it and respond emotionally. Ja handled that very well, so I tip my hat to Ja on the way he handled that. Giannis, in other news, out 4 to 6 weeks with a calf strain, the same calf calf, if I'm not mistaken, that held him out earlier this year for some time. And if it's not the same calf, it's a similar type injury to the other calf. But in saying that, how does this affect Milwaukee or Giannis and trade talks? Well, I think this affects Milwaukee and Giannis a little more than it affects Ja and the Grizzlies. And here's why. Because— Milwaukee has still been in the mode of trying to make it work for Giannis, right? And in order, you know, in order to do that and make the right moves, you also need other people playing well. And Giannis not being on the court will directly impact just about everyone on their team and their ability to play well. When your star player goes out, it's not as easy because your whole system It's built around that guy. Now you do have the instance where, oh man, if someone else gets more opportunity and they play well, but in your typical role as is, things change, you know? And so if that's changing for certain guys on Milwaukee, then does the trade value go down? Does it go up? Because it's gonna be impacted by recent play. No question. Yeah. You know, and so I think it affects them a little more than it affects Memphis for that reason. You know, like what move are you making? Who are you trading? What's the value? All of those things are affected by Giannis being on the court or not being on the court. And so I think like it's a little dicey for Milwaukee. Like I know they don't wanna trade Giannis, right? But like if there was any chance that he was getting traded at the deadline, then you really don't know what it ends up looking like. You really don't know what it ends up looking like towards the end. If they keep on, hold on to him, what moves are you making to help fit in with Giannis, bolster the roster, and help them compete at the level that they know Giannis wanna compete at? Yeah. It's a little tricky, much trickier for Milwaukee than it is Memphis. Also because Memphis hasn't played very well this year, but they're not dead set on, man, we need to win right now because we got our guy that we need to win with right now. Like Milwaukee is, right? Memphis is like, man, maybe they may go young. Ja is still pretty young. Jaren is still pretty young. Cedric Ower, Zach Edey, they're still fairly young anyway, right? So different mindsets for the two different teams. And because of that, it affects these two teams around the trade deadline a little differently. We'll see how it ultimately plays out. But that's just kind of my take on how it affects both groups. I don't know which one of 'em gonna trade. We'll see if they will trade anyone for those guys. I don't know, but that is how I think it affects them. In other news, Charles Barkley guarantees that the Hornets are making the play-in. Charles has not been great on his guarantees, but I also think this can be affect— I get what Charles is getting at. You know, you got Melo, which I don't know what the hell they doing with Melo. He don't start any play. Uh-huh. I don't know what they doing, Melo. I talked about this before, so I'm not going back down that rabbit hole. Miles, Con, talked about all these guys, not going down that rabbit hole. I see what Chuck is getting at. However, the Hornets are so, um, I don't want to call them dysfunctional because I don't know that they're still dysfunctional. They were. But you just don't know which way they're going to go. Like, will they trade LaMelo? Will they trade Miles? Like, this team could look totally different in 2 weeks. And so I don't know about guaranteeing right now that this team will be in the play-in because it can just look totally different fast. And I think, you know, with this team, they're one injury away. And I knock on wood because I don't wish injury on anyone, but I'm saying like, for it not to work, like they haven't bolstered, like— Draymond Green. Made the roster strong enough to where if Melo's out or Con's out or Miles is out or Brandon is out, like it all, one of those guys and it affects their roster drastically. You know? So I don't know that I'm ready to guarantee that the Hornets will make the play-in like Chuck did because you just gotta wait after February 5th. Like this whole team could look drastically different come February 5th. 'Cause like, what's the direction of the Charlotte Hornets? Do you know? Maybe you know, 'cause I don't know. So I don't know the direction. You can't guarantee that before the trade deadline. Everybody could be gone. I don't know. This organization's, we'll see. But now, ah, good one, I suppose. Man, shout out to D. Rose having his number 1 retired in Chicago by the Bulls. Well, deserves, you know, what D. Rose means to the city of Chicago. Not meant, means to the city of Chicago. Like there's no, there's not one bigger person in the city of Chicago than Derrick Rose. Make no mistake about it. You heard what I said. There is not one bigger person that means more to the city of Chicago than Derrick Rose. Derrick Rose is everything to the city of Chicago. And listen, with all due respect to MJ, I love MJ. We all wanted to be like Mike, still love Mike. Mike not doesn't mean more to the city of Chicago than Derrick Rose. That's just facts. Derrick Rose stops everything. Yeah. Derrick Rose stops crying. Like Derrick Rose is, Derrick Rose can walk around Chicago, no problem. Like what he mean to the city of Chicago is unbelievable. And to get his jersey retired, well deserved. Obviously we know what happened with the injuries and stuff that took D-Rose off the path that he was on. But man, youngest MVP in league history. Right in the Chicago Bulls jersey. When Chicago Bulls was struggling for years after Mike, Derrick Rose came and saved the franchise. D. Rose did that. You know, so man, it was an honor to play against D. Rose. You know, I still remember D. Rose coming to, coming off fresh off the injury. Remember he missed a year and all of that. Then he played, you know, he came to USA camp. And I can't remember if he ended up playing on that USA team or not. I know he made the team. I don't know if he ended up playing or not. But I remember we were in practice. I was on a select team at that time. And he was coming down, dribbling the ball, like in transition. And man, I stepped up at the free throw line, like broke down in my stance to guard. And he hit me with the fastest boom, boom. Boom, boom. And I was way over there, he was laying the ball up. I hadn't, again, this is D-Rose like after the injury. I had never seen someone double cross and like that explosive to a layup in my life. You know, like you talking about a complete freak of nature. I also remember when I was a kid, I said I was a kid, I'm not much younger than them, but I was on the younger AAU circuit. And we were in Vegas and D-Rose was with Mean Streets and Eric Gordon was with Mean Streets and they played against Bill Russell, excuse me, Bill Walker and O.J. Mayo. And man, watching those guys play, like I was in that game, that gym was jammed, cram-packed. And watching those guys play, I couldn't believe it. I still remember my high school coach like, "Man, he a pro right now." Yeah. Junior year, Derrick Rose, a pro right now. And I mean, with what he did at Memphis and then came right into the league, youngest MVP ever. Coach Dawkins wasn't wrong. He was a pro right now. He like, he got the body, he got the athleticism, he a pro right now. And he wasn't lying, man. So just, you know, to have those moments, to witness those moments, you talking about, Man, it's one of the all-time greats. Be retired up there with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. It's insane. So shout out to D-Rose, man. Tip my cap. Well deserved, brother. Definitely hope to see D-Rose in the Hall of Fame. You know, you went MVP of the NBA. You deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. It's the best league in the world and you were the best player. You deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. So shout out to D-Rose, man. Well deserved. Much love to D-Rose and the family. So a couple days ago in college basketball, AJ DeBonsa scores 43 points. Kingston Flemmons from Houston, freshman, also scores 42 points. Keeton Wegler from Illinois, freshman, scores 46 points. Cam Boozer from Duke, freshman, scores 32 points. Darius Acuff, who I was talking about on my Threads account, scores 31 points. These are all freshmen. This has to be the most loaded freshman class probably since— Derrick Rose, Eric Gordon, and those guys. You talking about immediate impact. And by the way, this may be the best freshman class ever. Like, look, like these points, these are all freshmen scoring at this magnitude. Scoring 43 in college is insane. 46, 42 in college. Yeah. I think the only one that went in overtime, if I'm not mistaken, is Houston. In college, scoring these type of points? These are first-year players. It's unbelievable. Like, I can't believe that this much talent is in this freshman class. You talking about an incredible NBA draft? Some of these guys gonna fall in the draft just 'cause it's like, Like you just have to. Man, you at the top of this draft, whew. It's gonna be hard to get it wrong. AJ DeBose is a stud. Cam Boozer, stud. Kingston Fleming, stud. Darius Acuff, I watched Darius Acuff play a couple years ago. He played on the same AU team I played for the family, Coach Speedy Walker. And I watched him play a couple years ago and he was talented. He was good. And like, I didn't think he always played hard. I didn't think he really carried the guard. It was kind of lackadaisical. Just kind of went through the motions. And that happens during AAU. I am so impressed with how much better Darius Acuff has gotten. Over the past 2 years. And I'm even more impressed at how much Darius Acuff has improved since the beginning of this season. I mean, he keeps getting better. Like, he keeps getting better and better. He guards, playmakes, scores, shot has gotten a lot better. Fast, strong, looks a lot more athletic than I thought he was. Mm-hmm. Like Darius Acuff may be the first or second best point guard in this draft. And Darius Acuff is probably someone's point guard of the future in the NBA. I mean, I just did not expect him to be this good. I expected him to be good, but not this good. And he just keeps getting better. And better. Taking on the challenge to guard, that's a big thing, man. If you got guards these days that don't wanna guard, it's at some point in the NBA, it catches you. It just does. And like, he sit down and guard. That's one of the most things I was most impressed by. 'Cause he was so good young, like you really didn't have to, except Coach Speedy gonna require you to guard. But, You know, he went down to IMG Academy his last 2 years of high school. I'm not always a fan of the prep school route. His body changed so much in doing that. His game changed so much in doing that. Like, I think it was masterful for him. And so, man, shout out to Acuff. I know Rashad Phillips been, that's his young fella. I met OG Acuff before. You know, Rashad Phillips been talking about A'Kauf since he was 8th grade, younger, you know. He's always, and Rashad Phillips is one of those guys, he's like Cuffs. Rashad, between the basketball knowledge and talent evaluation skills of Rashad Phillips and Cuffs is like as elite of talent evaluators you can find. And like they just do it through their social media accounts, but they are as elite as talent evaluators as you can find. And so shout out to Rashad Phillips, man. He been calling it for years. And to see the improvement that Acuff's made, I am impressed, but I am overall also just impressed with this freshman class. Wow. Looking forward to the NBA draft and seeing how this plays out. Yeah. Because man, it is loaded. And I mean loaded with talent. And we didn't even talk about Caleb Wilson and Mykel Brown and like the list goes on and on. So wow. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out. But also shout out to my young fella, Jeremy Fears. Not quite a freshman, but 17 and 17 assists in 24 minutes. Leading the country in assists. Fear is the floor general. Shout out to the young fella. Keep ballin', my Spartans. 18 or 19 and 2. Putting it together. Got them scum bums coming up soon. So, you know, shout out to them Spartans, baby. As promised, we're gonna try a new segment. It's called 3 Things with Draymond. This will be a weekly segment, mostly non-basketball, and my opportunity to give you guys a peek into my world off the court. 3 Things with Draymond. Every week we do 3 things what I enjoyed off the court, what caught my eye online, and then also just best conversation that I've had kind of inside the building as this week goes on. Kind of like a, just your sneak peek behind the curtain of what goes on in our lives. And you know, it's so much work that goes into the basketball court that people don't realize. I know people think we just show up and play basketball, go to practice, go home. Like it's so much more work to be done, constant communication. Yeah. Trying to make sure things together. Remember, it's all human beings, which means you're always dealing with a bunch of different sets of problems and you're always doing things to hold it all together. That's just the nature of what we do. That's the nature of what happens when you're dealing with human beings that deal with different emotions on a daily basis. But you see these people more than you see anybody in the world, at least for 8 months, you know? So, We'll get into that. But first, number 1, I wanna talk about the most fun moment I had off the court this week. My most fun moment of the week came actually after Monday night's game. Monday night's game back at home last week. My kids stayed late because God knows why. And they stayed late on, oh. Well, number one, they convinced me that, Daddy, 'cause I wasn't gonna have them go to the game on Monday because they had school on Tuesday. And they were like, Daddy, we don't have school on Monday, so why we can't go to the game? And in my mind I'm like, well, because they got school tomorrow, it's a 7 o'clock game. So like, it's not really about not having school on Monday. Y'all have school Tuesday. But of course I got bullied and they came to the game and they were up super late. They were racing and you know, they, Steve is incredible about families. Like when I tell you our kids are all through the facility, they're on the practice court, like, and it's like— It's like, It's like moments that like we can't buy for our kids. Like it's experiences that they'll remember for the rest of their life that they get just being all through our facility. All because Steve is so open to our families just being a part of the journey. And it's such a blessing. But they're out there racing and they're racing with my security. Yeah. And he's racing and like he blows a wheel, completely blows a tire. I come in the next day, he got crutches. I'm just like, you know, and they told me like he blew a wheel out there racing with my kids. And yeah, I mean, that wasn't like the fun moment. It was just like, "Uh-huh, like really?" Like, but the funnest part of the moment with me obviously was, And my kids got to ride home with me. And so bedtime, we, you know, I do bedtimes. Bedtime, I don't know, for those of y'all out there with kids, maybe you don't have this. I think you do. I know bedtime, it's like energy at bedtime goes through the roof. Like the kid, like it's just, phew. And— Bedtime, I was playing with DJ. He started throwing this soccer ball at me. He got a little mush soccer ball, a little like bare, you know, mushy, squishy soccer ball. And it just turned into a full-on dodgeball match of him in his bed and like with the soccer ball and he's throwing it at me and me throwing the ball at him. And like he caught me with a couple head shots. I dodged around one. Ball went straight through his head. His hands caught him in the head. I started laughing. He caught me with the ball again, headshot. And we had like a quick 3-minute dodgeball game, impromptu dodgeball game right before bed. And it was a blast. I'd have to say that was my most fun moment off the court this week. Next up is what stopped my scroll this week on social media. And what stopped my scroll this week was Looking at Scottie Scheffler and how great he's been, how many weeks he's been at number 1, and what the date would be if he stayed at number 1 for the next several years to pass how many weeks in a row Tiger Woods was at number 1. And number, first off, just Scottie being where he is right now is insane. Also won, he won the event today, picked up right where he left off last year. So he will be at number 1 again. But Scottie Scheffler, man, is insanely good. And so what stopped my scroll was that, but then it was also speaking about how the person who was talking was saying why Scottie is playing even better than Tiger was because of all of the metrics and different things that goes into it. And he has to be playing better than Tiger was to be doing what he's doing. I found that interesting to read. Not quite the guy's opinion, but more so Scottie's dominance. That's what stopped my scroll this week. And lastly, each week, like I said, I'll— the best conversation I had with a teammate or a coach. I'm always talking to teammates or coaches. I had a great conversation this week with Coach Kerr, you know, we had an incredible conversation, you know, because, you know, we've been together now for 12 years and we still continue to grow. Our relationship continue to grow. You know, our coach-player relationship continue to grow. All of it continue to grow. I'm very grateful to have, I'm not someone that's like, I don't love change. And so, you know, I'll wear the same shoes for a while. You know, like I don't love change. I love things to kind of be where, like how I know them to be, which is one of the reasons I'm very fortunate to have been in the same place for 14 years, have the same coach for 12 years. I don't love change. However, The one thing that I've had to embrace more than anything is change. And not some drastic change, but like, as I continue to grow through my career, get closer to the end of my career than I am the beginning of my career, change. And Steve shared a story with me that I thought was fantastic. And he said, "Man, my last year with the Spurs, I didn't play much." He said, but— Yeah. You know, he said, "But I always stayed ready." Said we were in the playoffs and Tony Parker went out with an injury and it was a closeout game and Pop threw me in there. He said, I think he said I scored 13 points in the fourth quarter and we won the game or hit 4 threes or something like that in the fourth quarter. And he was like, "Man, that's one of my most fun games of my career." Yeah. And he was at the end of his career. So just in having those conversations, man, like, you know, like it's so great to have a coach that's been through it, that can kind of talk to you at the different steps of your career as it's going on, right? Like I've been at it for 14 years now. Like I said, I'm far closer to the end than I am the beginning. But to have a coach that played 17 years, that won championships, that can talk to you about these different moments in your career is so special. Yeah. So special and I'm forever grateful for that. So just, you know, Coach sharing that with me, you know, as I continue on my journey and continue to try to close out my career in a way that is admirable and who I am and who I've been my entire career as a player. Making sure that, like Steve said to me a few years ago, land the plane smoothly. Yeah. That's my ultimate goal every day of my career moving forward is I just wanna land this plane smooth. Yeah, I still wanna win. Yeah, I still wanna compete. Yeah, I still wanna make all defense teams, all of that. But most importantly, I wanna land the plane smooth so that everything that I work to become is that and nothing else. And so that's my mission. And being able to, having the opportunity to have a coach or, having the opportunity to speak to my coach who did it and just continue to learn. I'm forever grateful.
