In this anecdotal recount, the speaker describes a moment when Michael Jordan and his teammates visited North Carolina Central University, an HBCU renowned for its barbershop, and deliberately barred Duke player Johnny Dawkins from entering the shop. Jordan warned that if the door were opened, they would cease returning for haircuts, leading the team to shut down the shop and assert their superiority over their rival Duke. The story underscores the intensity of the Duke–UNC rivalry, Jordan’s intimidating leadership, and the cultural significance of the barbershop within the HBCU setting.
