In this short clip, Draymond Green rebuts the notion that Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic pads his statistics. He argues that a player cannot sustain a winning streak while merely inflating personal numbers, noting that Jokic’s assist totals often exceed ten without harming his team’s success. Green labels the “stat‑padding” storyline as lazy commentary, suggesting analysts lack substantive insight and default to easy talking points. He urges broadcasters and fans to dissect Jokic’s actual on‑court impact rather than chase superficial stat lines, and calls for greater professionalism and pride in NBA analysis.

The whole stat padding thing I think is ridiculous. You can't win that many games in a row getting a triple-double and only be padding your stats. Like at some point your stat padding and say, call it 30 wins. At some point your stat padding in 30 games is gonna catch up to you. Like trust me, I see Joker stat lines often. There's oftentimes where he'll have 10 or 11 assists. So if he's stat padding, there like at some point you chasing that 10th, 11th assist is gonna cost y'all a game. It hasn't. The stat pad narrative is lazy. The stat pad narrative is, I don't have anything else to talk about, anything else to say. I need to say something. It's lazy. Just dissect the game. Dissect what Joker doing. If you have a platform and you go on TV, they're actually interested in what you have to say. Take more pride in what you do and stop being lazy at this job.
