In this episode of the Draymond Green Show, host Draymond Green asks veteran guard Jamal Crawford for advice to Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson, who recently returned to the bench for the first time since his rookie season. Crawford explains that he personally reached out to Thompson before the role change and encourages him to embrace the sixth‑man position. He argues that accepting the bench role can give Thompson a new “wind,” improve his numbers, and allow him to have more fun and focus on the game. Crawford emphasizes the importance of enjoying the moment, especially for a legendary player whose career is finite, and urges Thompson to avoid regrets. The conversation is interspersed with a DraftKings Sportsbook sponsorship read.

Thank you.
Klay recently just came off the bench for the first time since his rookie year.
35 piece, shout out Klay.
Like since his rookie year. What would you say to Klay? Like, should he embrace that and say, you know what, I'm gonna be the sixth man. Should he continue like, no, I'm still at this level. I wanna fight to be a star. What would your advice be to a Klay Thompson?
I actually reached out to Klay.
Wow, really?
I reach out to people all the time. I actually reached out to Klay before he came off the bench. And I'm like, 'cause we talked about it on TV. And everybody's like trying to bury Klay.
I'm like, dog, he's still averaging 17 points.
It's crazy. I said, Klay is, the fight is with himself because he's been so legendary for so long, right?
Yep.
17 points on a great team is great. Klay's battle is that, and obviously the injuries and everything. But with him, I would tell him to embrace it. It can give him a whole nother wind. Like we don't see legendary players like that. Manu, we talked about, but legendary, legendary guys like that who have had 4-time champions averaging 17, like, "I'm gonna come off the bench." Now you're seeing second unit guys. Now you're the focal point of the offense whenever, like it gets you in the rhythm. Forget the off the bench or starting, you're gonna have better numbers doing this than you would as you're doing it right now.
Yeah.
