Jonathan Kuminga Is Ready, Santi Aldama Rant, & Knicks are NOT Contenders

In this episode of the Draymond Green Show, recorded on the road in Milwaukee, Draymond Green and producer Greg Holtzman review the Golden State Warriors' early-season schedule, highlighting a 2‑0 start to a grueling road stretch and praising the development of young players such as Jonathan Kuminga, Brandon Przybilla, Quentin Post, and Moses Moody. Draymond critiques the Santi Aldama on‑court incident, calling it "clownish," and defends his own defensive effort. He then shifts to a broader league analysis, lauding the Philadelphia 76ers' backcourt (Tyrese Maxey, VJ Escomb) while expressing skepticism about the Knicks, Rockets, and Timberwolves as contenders, and offering a hopeful outlook for the San Antonio Spurs in the next two years. The episode introduces two new recurring segments: "Red Light, Green Light," where Greg reads headlines and Draymond gives green, yellow, or red judgments (e.g., Shohei Ohtani, Giannis travel call, horse celebration, WNBA pay, Earl Lloyd anniversary), and "Golden Days," inviting fans to submit favorite Warriors memories. Draymond also reflects on Shawn Livingston's underrated impact on the Warriors dynasty and recounts the dramatic 2016 regular‑season game against OKC, sharing personal locker‑room tension and key moments. The show wraps with a reminder to follow, rate, and share the podcast.

What's up, good people? Welcome back to the Draymond Green Show. On today's episode, I'm on the road here in Milwaukee. This is really our first true road trip. Obviously we went to Portland, but away for a couple games, headed east, long flight. But anyway, we'll start off with some Dub Nation talk today. How this week is going for the team. As you all know, well publicized, we kind of break our season down into weeks and we talk about winning the week. So we'll talk about how the, this week is going for the team. Then I'll get around the association, share some thoughts about what else is intriguing me around the league. And finally, we'll wrap it up with two brand new segments I have for y'all. So let's go. So as we sit here on Wednesday night, two games into a four-game week, as I told y'all, our schedule is absolutely insane. 5 games in 8 nights to start off the season. And in LA, back in San Francisco, in Portland, back in San Francisco for a couple games, and now headed out on a road trip for— Yeah, we're in Milwaukee. And then headed to Indianapolis, also starting off a stretch of 10 of the next 12 on the road. So, Shout out to the league office. They are really pushing the envelope on us to start this season. But as you know, we are no excuse makers. You gotta play the road games anyway. You gotta play the back-to-backs anyway, at least if you're the Dubs. So whether you're getting them out the way now, getting them out the way later, you're getting them out the way. But as far as how we're faring this week, we're 2-0. This week, which guarantees us at least a push this week. Now, obviously for us, we want to get greedy. You want to go 4-0, you want to dominate the week. You know, that'll be an incredible week for us. And I think, you know, when you look back at the Memphis game to start this week, we handled that, you know, pretty handily. It was interesting playing against that Memphis team. It was just kind of a little different than what you've grown accustomed to. A lot of the guys we didn't know, and I know they're facing some injuries, but— Yeah. You know, we haven't seen a Memphis team without Desmond Bane, you know, in a long time. That was a big difference, you know? And so just seeing how that Memphis team comes together and if they can figure it out. Ja is still special. Jaren is still special, you know, but everyone else is kind of figuring it out. So that was a very interesting game. And then coming right back on a back-to-back versus the Clippers, first off on NBC. The NBC reviews have been nothing short of amazing. I've actually had an opportunity to watch a replay game on NBC and the broadcast is just incredible. The intros are amazing. The way Reggie Miller and Jamal Crawford are playing off each other, like it's just such an incredible, fresh sound and analysis on the game. I love to hear the way Mike Tirico is teeing those guys up. Like, it's elite basketball commentary. And so I think that's just adding to the game. And then obviously it's bringing that old school NBA on NBC nostalgia feel back. I mean, it's amazing. So anyway, you know, that's 2 wins for us. You know, coming up on the Clippers, we came up on the Clippers on the second half of a back-to-back. And that's a much slower-paced game than the Memphis game. You know, you sit and you wonder like, man, would you rather play the grind-it-out team on the front end and the fast team on the back end or vice versa? And obviously this was the grind-it-out team on the back end, faster, younger, athletic team on the front end. And I gotta say, we handled both of them, you know, pretty handily. Got off to a great start. Against the Clippers and then kind of let go of the rope. And then halftime we came out and up until the 4-minute mark when we left the game, they had 21 points in the entire second half to the 4-minute mark left in the game. And that's just incredible defense. That is how you shut the water off. That is what we need to do. Our defense is an area that we know we can and will be great in. And we need to start pressing at it. So against the Clippers was a good start. A lot we can build on to just to continue to see the progress of our team. It's been amazing to see Jonathan Kuminga stepping up the way he's stepping up. See Brandon Przyjemski have a great start to the week, bouncing back from what was a tough week. Quentin Post got off to a tough start last week, came out +34 last night. And was huge instrumental. You know, they got Bich Zubac and big Brook Lopez at the rim and QP just stretched the floor and he was knocking shots down. He got back to doing his celebration. It was beautiful to see, you know, and we made it hard on those guys on both ends of the floor. We made it hard for them to guard defensively. We made it hard for them to get what they were trying to get into, what they were trying to get into offensively. I saw a quote.
Yeah.
Where Zubac said, man, they pressed up into us. They really ramped up their pressure and we didn't respond to their intensity well. We didn't respond to their aggressiveness well. And it feels good to be the team on that side of things where a team is like, yo, we didn't respond to that well. We had lost to the Clippers 7 times in a row. You know, so also you wanna come out and like, you wanna, you know, when you're trying to build a championship team, games like that is about proving like, all right, it's different. You know what I'm saying? Things are different now. And so I thought that was absolutely incredible. Great getting Big Al back out there after sitting the front end of the back-to-back out, but then also the back end of a back-to-back out. Him missing 2 games, him getting back out there. It'll be good for Big Al to catch his rhythm. You know, he's huge for us. And so looking forward to that. Like I said, you know, Moses Moody had a great start to this week. Yeah. You know, first game against Memphis, hit some huge threes. Think he was 5 for 6 from 3. Also got fouled on the 3 and knocked all 3 free throws down. Defensively, he was all over the place. You know, so it's watching these young guys where you see a game that Steph don't go bonkers, that Jimmy don't go bonkers, and they just have good solid games. And you watch these young guys pick up the slack. What Jonathan Kuminga has been doing, Like, I wanna talk about it. J.K., the way he's defending, you know, we told him at the beginning of the season, like, if you wanna do it differently, become all defense. And he's taking that challenge. That man guarded the shit outta Draymond Green on Monday night, and then guarded the hell outta James Harden on Tuesday night. That is elite-level defending.
Yeah.
He's picking up guys full court. He's pressing up and using his length as they get into the paint, doing a better job of learning to defend without fouling, although he's pressuring. You know, the reads that he's making on the offensive end, the passes that he's making, he's so poised and under control. The rebounding, he's been rebounding the hell out of the ball, skying over everybody to go in and grab rebounds. Man. Jonathan Kaminga is playing incredible basketball. And it was so great to see Steve come out and say, "Listen, he's a starter. Like, he's right there with those guys. We'll figure everything else out, but he's right there with those guys." Like, to hear that from your coach, you know, we spoke about before, you know, I've spoken about just Kaminga and Steve relationship and how it take times for those things to grow. And do you know when you're going through that, building that relationship, and then that very guy come out and say, "Nah, I'm stamping him. He gets the stamp of approval." Do you know what that do for your confidence? So I'm excited to see like how much more confidence J.K. has. It's a beautiful thing, man. And to go what he went, go through what he went through with his contract situation. And to come out balling the way he's balling, showing the growth that he's shown, I tip my hat to the young fella. Keep it going. Keep it going. 'Cause there's a lot in store for him if he keep playing the type of basketball he's playing. Averaging 18 points a game on a career low 10 shots a game. How about that? So shout out to Jonathan Kaminga. I think he's doing an incredible job and he will continue to get better and better. And lastly, Just about this week's games. I know everybody had, you know, just wanted to hear about the Aldama situation. He's a guy who always talks, you know, every time we play them, he talks, he liked to mix it up a bit. You know, I'm all for mixing it up a bit, you know, but what I don't like is guys that talk and like, act like they wanna mix it up and then you get a little baby foul and you fall out grabbing your neck, grabbing your head like you did. And I just disagree with like fronting like that because, Even if you get the call he did, like he did, you got the flag on one. All right, cool. Y'all get the ball back and you get two free throws. It's almost like you just sold your soul for two free throws. You just laid out on the floor, rolling out like you dead, just to get up and walk to the bench and walk to the free throw line. What happens is you lose all respect. So now you a sucker and we can't unsucker you. Because you just act like a complete clown, 'cause you listening to some dumbass coach that telling you, if he foul, you sell it. But now you gotta play while everybody looking at you like a sucker. And that brother went from a +15 to ending the game at a +2 after he did that sucker shit. You know, and so I always tell guys, hey man, Don't never play like you a sucker. 'Cause once you play like a sucker, guess what you are? You a sucker. And it ain't no unsucker in you either. So I thought it was clownish of him to do that. He made a complete clown of himself. And I also made a clown of him when he missed them two free throws. You can't fall out like that and then go miss two free throws, champ. I mean, not champ, kid. Yeah. And then obviously everybody saw me get into it with my young fella, Jaren Jackson. We didn't really get into it, but Jaren really pissed me off. As y'all know, that's my young Spartan dog. It ain't no hard feelings, no love lost. Which I would never say anything crazy disrespectful to him like I was saying to Audama, because that's my young fella. I did tell Jaren to shut up because you know, you come to the rescue of a clown.
Yeah.
You a Spartan, dawg. We don't rescue suckers. We stay sucker-free. So I had to get that trip a little bit, but like I said, as y'all know, that's always gonna be love. That ain't changing one bit ever. Bleed green. So that was that. That was fun. I enjoyed it, but we gonna take a break. And when we come back, I wanna get into some of the other teams and players that have caught my eye this week. We'll be back right after this. As I said, coming back into our next segment, we was gonna move around the association. And first I must start with the 76ers. I mean, wow. They've gotten off to a 4-0 start despite Joel Embiid playing 20 minutes a game. Those guys look good, man. Tyrese Maxey is playing incredible basketball, averaging 36 to 37 a night. Young fella, VJ, Edgecomb, is playing like the Rookie of the Year. He's not only playing like Rookie of the Year though, he's playing like a seasoned vet, like an All-Star. And if he continues to play this way, it's gonna be interesting to see like if he can get the All-Star or not his rookie year. Because you gotta think like him coming outta college, Yeah, he was the number 4 pick, but I don't think anybody had on their bingo card like, yo, VJ Escomb could possibly be an all-star this year. I don't think anybody had that on their bingo cards. But the way he's playing and the way Maxie's playing, they're playing like one of the best backcourts in the NBA right now. And it's beautiful to see. I mean, VJ Escomb is a freak of nature. He's knocking the 3 down. I read where Bryce Drew, excuse me, Scott Drew, his coach at Baylor, said he's gonna be a 40% 3-point shooter. And I remember him struggling last year at the start of the season with his 3-point shot because Chris DeMarco, our assistant coach, shout out to Chris DeMarco, by the way, going into his Dominican Hall of Fame for basketball. But he coached the, the Bahamas national, the Bahamian national team. And so he's coached Vijay since like 16 years old. And I remember at the beginning of the year last year, he was worried like, man, Vijay not shooting well. He just not shooting well. But lo and behold, Scott Draymond had changed his form. He was working with their coaching staff to change his form because they said his release point is too low. If you look at his release now, it's up here. And Scott Drew, what he said was, You go through it now, you're gonna go through some slumps now, but it's gonna help you in the long run when you get to the NBA. And here it is, he's shooting 40+%. Will he shoot 40+% all year? I don't know if it'll be this year, but he's shooting the ball incredibly well. And with that athleticism and ball skills to get to the rim off that shot, and you gotta honor the shot, and he ain't afraid to go in there and put it on somebody head. So man, I'm loving what I'm seeing for Vijay Escomb as well as— Draymond Green. Tyrese Maxey. BJ Escomb, by the way, you talk about young stardom, like a young fella coming into stardom. You wanna grow the game in the Bahamas. You wanna continue, you wanna move yourself into stardom faster. You wanna grow your fan base faster. When we talk about the things that you need to do, the things that some guys have stopped doing, and you see their fan base start to grow and then that shit wane, Things that guys stopped doing, they stopped participating in All-Star Weekend. Steph Curry getting in that 3-point contest all those years added to the legacy and the legend of Steph Curry. So I hope to see Vijay Escon with that vertical in the dunk contest come All-Star Weekend. Add to your legend, young fella. Show the world who you are. Add to your trophy case. How about taking the dunk contest trophy back to the kids in the Bahamas? Yeah. How about that? So I think this kid is special. I definitely think he gonna be Rookie of the Year, as I've said, but I think he is absolutely special. And it's interesting because Joel's only playing 20 minutes. Adam, Adam Bona, and I hope I'm pronouncing his name right, he's been a monster defensively in the 17 minutes a game he's playing. Now it'll be interesting to see as Joel minutes tick up, As Paul George comes back, what then happens with the duo that is Maxie and VJ Escomb? Is Nick Nurse gonna say, "Hey man, we are running our offense through these guys and here's where you two guys can help because they're having success and we believe that this helps." And obviously Joel, Joel's an MVP of the league, right? So it's hard to just go away from Joel, but I don't know all of his limitations with his body. So it'll just be interesting to see how that plays out. Like how that could affect this team negatively or positively. 'Cause right now they just out there running and gunning and getting to it. And then not to mention Quentin Grimes, who signed an $8 million player— what is it called? $8 million qualifying— who signed an $8 million qualifying offer, which is a 1-year deal to come back to Philly and then be a free agent next year. Man, that kid's playing his ass off. I was a little worried when he took that 1-year deal, 'cause I'm like, man, they cannot play you. You know, like, and if they don't play you, I don't think he's done enough in the league to where he's still just getting paid. Now again, if Paul George was out there, again, I don't know how that looks, right? But like, he's playing well, and so he's earning those minutes and the opportunity to show that he's worth the money he asked for. And so, man, them guys are, them guys get it up. And they pushing the tempo. It's fun to watch. I mean, they had that comeback win versus Washington yesterday where they were down and Washington should have had the game won up 10 with 3 minutes to go and they blew it. And Philly just walked them down. And then they acted up on the bench and in front of they fans on the bench. It was cool to see. I love that type of stuff. So, man. It brings you to the question of like, where does this team finish in the East? And it's so much, it's so much gray area there in deciding that. Just with not knowing like how much MB you're gonna get, how much PG you're gonna get. So I don't quite, it's hard to quite say where this team finishes in the East this year. But what I will say is they got their backcourt of the future. And it also poses the question, like, what happens with Jared McCain when he get back? You know, he continues to have these injuries, hasn't really quite got an opportunity to prove himself. And you got these young guns balling. Tyrese Maxey already got paid. Vijay Ashcombe, the 4th pick. Quentin Grimes balling out. Like, where does that leave Jared McCain when he gets back? You know, so it's just, I mentioned that to show you like how fast things can move in this league and how fast things can change in this league. Like nothing's guaranteed in this league. Before you know it, that kid could possibly be moved on from, like you just don't know how it all ends up playing out. And so I, you know, I hope he can get back healthy soon enough because the longer he's out, it's like the further it's getting away from him. You got these guys healthy and they're balling, a 4-0 start and they look good. You know? And so interested in seeing where they finish. I don't, like I said, I don't know where that'll be this year, but I know they got their backcourt of the future. And when you got a backcourt like that, and by the way, Vijay wanna defend. So Vijay gonna guard the best guard. That's dangerous. That's dangerous.
So.
Shout out to those two guys. So it's very, very fun watching them. Also, and still moving around the association, I know on the last episode, a lot of people mentioned three teams that I didn't mention as contenders were the Knicks, Rockets, and T-Wolves. And I think for me personally, the Knicks, I just don't believe that they're contenders. I don't think— I don't think so either. They have what it takes to win at the highest level. I think you can stifle their offense and make it hard on them. And I just think ultimately also on the defensive end, you gotta like, anytime you have a couple guys on the floor at the same time, that's really key guys and don't really want to defend, it makes it tough to win at the highest level. Yeah. And so that's kind of my question with the Knicks. The Rockets, you know, I love that Rockets roster. I just think like, you know, to expect them to contend without Fred VanVleet, like I just think you're fooling yourself. Like Fred, it's kind of almost acting as if Fred doesn't do what Fred do. From a leadership standpoint, from a ball handling standpoint, from a shot making standpoint, Fred is a bulldog on the defensive end. And I think people is kind of discounting what Fred means to that group. And so just to think that they're gonna be contenders without Fred, like they gotta get— to have a primary ball handler is everything. You know, you need elite guard play to win in the playoffs. And Fred is elite. You know, and so I think Draymond Green got the ability to become elite. But I think he still has some things to figure out. And with Iman's lack of shooting, to take him and put him as the point guard in front of the defense, meaning you're at the top of the key handling the ball, the whole defense is looking at you. And if you don't have a shot, then they start to key on that. You know, if Iman's playing out of the corner and cutting and all those things, he get behind the defense, he's able to use his athleticism. If he's just sitting in front of the defense, it can get tough. You know, and so that's why I didn't mention the Rockets. And then the T-Wolves, I think, you know, to say that they're a contender right now, you know, I think they lost some key pieces. Nikhil Alexander-Walker, I think, was a very key piece for them. You know, he's gone. And I think they're still trying to figure out like their point guard position. And so, and still trying to figure it out, I can't say that you're a contender and you're trying to figure those things out. They're bringing Mike Conley off the bench now. You know, they're trying Dante at the point. So I still think like they're trying to figure it out. And if you're trying to figure that out, what if it don't get off to a great start and you don't figure it out? Then you start getting trades and all those types of things. So I can't quite say they're a contender yet. Obviously we know they're capable. You know, they made a run last year to the conference finals, but teams are getting better. And I just don't know the big additions that they made to continue to better their team. And in teetering with the point guard spot, I just think that leaves you in a very vulnerable space in trying to figure that out. So that is why I did not mention those 3 teams. You know, not to hurt anyone's feelings or bulletin board material. I'm just sharing my thoughts with you. And that's why I didn't mention those 3 teams with the teams that I did mention. But one team that I do wanna mention is—
Draymond Green.
I don't know that they're championship ready right now, but in the next 2 years they will be. The San Antonio Spurs. Obviously we know that's a winning culture, winning organization. And with the way Wimby's playing, Stephon Castle, they ain't even got Fox back out there yet. Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes, that veteran presence. Dylan Harper gonna continue to get better. Like that team over the next couple years, watch out. Like I said, I don't know that they're gonna compete this year. I haven't saw them play enough to even know if they're ready to compete for it this year, but they ain't far away. And so I gotta give them some credit where credit is due as well. So in this new segment, as I mentioned to y'all before, The podcast moved over to the Odyssey family. And with that, we have a new producer. And so I tried to get Greg on camera on our first episode. Greg did not want to come on camera our first episode. No, I'm just lying. Greg was not set up to be on camera. He wasn't expecting it, but he told me, "I will come on." And so in this next episode, our producer Greg will read out different news headlines, stories, trends, And I'll respond with either a green light if I love it or approve of it, a red light if I disagree or it rubs me the wrong way, and a yellow light if I have mixed feelings or need more information. I'll give my reason as well. I won't leave you all to figure it out on your own. That's what this is about. So you leave no stone unturned and you leave with no questions. I can answer them right here. Sometimes it might be NBA-related stuff. Yeah. And other times it'll be completely non-basketball related. Hope you enjoy this segment. This is Red Light, Green Light. All right, Greg, let's do this.
All right, Draymond Green. People saying Shohei Ohtani is the greatest athlete of all time, regardless of sport.
Listen, I don't know that we can just say the greatest athlete of all time just yet, because I think he still need to do a little more. Like, like, Because in order to be the greatest athlete of all time, like the resume has to be extensive, right? Like the resume has to go on and on and on. And he just hasn't played long enough for it to go on and on and on. But by all means, I have no doubt that he's about to slow down. And he very much so, green light, will be the greatest athlete of all times too. Like, you know, one thing we always say about baseball is like, it's hard to say a baseball player is the greatest athlete of all time. Because he's a great hitter. This dude hits well, he steals bases, he pitches as good as any great pitcher in the majors. He plays outfield. Like he does everything. In the biggest moments, like, you know he deliver. And so I gotta go green light with Shohei.
Next one. Giannis not being called for a travel.
Giannis not being called for a travel. I gotta go yellow light on that. Reason being, In any world, in any other league, in any basketball league, that is a travel. However, the NBA has this very weird rule that until you gather the ball and bring the second hand, it's still not considered a gather. And so Giannis dribbled and he kept the ball here. Gather, outside step, inside step, off the glass. And so as much of a travel as it looks like, by NBA rule, it's not a travel. And so I'm gonna give it a yellow light because it looks weird. And as a defender, you want the fucking travel. I know I would. But by NBA rules, it's not a travel. It's a great move. He took advantage of the rule and he made it. And he made it do what it do. But for me, as the defender that I am, although it probably should gain a green light, I'm gonna give it a yellow light.
Riding the horse celebration.
Riding the horse celebration. Green light. Absolute green light. You know why? Because never play sucker. We cannot unsucker you.
Next one. WNBA players are underpaid.
WNBA players are underpaid. I'm gonna go with a green light. I don't know exactly what that means, right? Like, I don't know their numbers. So I can't tell you they should be paid X. What I do know is they should be paid more than they are paid. Absolute neon green light.
Next one is 75th anniversary of Earl Lloyd breaking the color barrier.
75th anniversary of Earl Lloyd breaking the color barrier is an absolutely neon, as possible as neon, as neon as it can get green light. Earl Lloyd, the NBA that you see today and all the dominance, you know, we talk GOATs, we talk Michael Jordan, we talk Kobe Bryant, we talk LeBron James, we talk Shaquille O'Neal, we talk Steph Curry. All of these are Black men. And without Earl Lloyd breaking the color barrier 7 years ago on Halloween Day and playing in the NBA 75 years ago on Halloween Day, and playing in the NBA for the first time, breaking that color barrier. You do not have these GOATs. I'm extremely thankful, paved the way for myself, allowed me to work my ass off and, you know, play in NBA and build my own legacy and make a great living for my family. I'm extremely thankful. So the most absolute neon light you can give. Shout out to Earl Lloyd. We thank you.
Green light.
This next segment is called Golden Days. And pretty much what this segment is, segment will be, we will have this segment on some shows, uh, the stories behind the moments that built the dynasty, the dynasty that yours truly is a part of. Email your favorite Warriors memories from the last 14 years to draymondgreen@audacy.com, and I'll break down what I remember about the moment, what you may not have seen, and what it means to me now. For example, these emails would be Steph Curry scoring 62, Klay Thompson 14 threes, the regular season game against OKC in 2014. Oh, yeah. 2016, and so on and so forth. I remember when we were at Oracle, they used to have every game, they would have this, what's your favorite Warriors moment? Season ticket holder of the game. And they would ask them what's their favorite Warriors moment? And it was hype. Like it takes you back. And so I hope this had that same feel. I hope everybody enjoyed this. Please participate and email your moments to draymondgreen@audacy.com. Yeah. Draymond Green, please share the memory with us that we have today.
So yeah, I'll start it off. This isn't quite a memory, but it's something that I want you to talk about. I'm a big Shawn Livingston fan. I wanna know his impact on the dynasty and kind of how underrated you feel that he is in basketball discussions.
Shawn's impact on the dynasty was huge because he was a calming force for us. You know, he come in the game, it completely calmed the game down. He slowed the tempo down. Due to Sean's presence, it almost made us like two completely different teams. Like you have to prepare for the juggernaut that is Steph, Klay, myself, KD, and Zaza. And then Sean come into the game and you have to like play against this entirely different offense. Like it's not the offense that you just was playing for.
Yeah.
The first onslaught. And it made us so dangerous. You know, Shawn being 6'7", it made our defense switchable. You know, the length that he had, the athleticism, sneaky athleticism, the locker room presence, a vet, super mild manner, just easygoing, see everything, nip shit in the bud, don't let problems go on. Incredible leader, incredible guy, locker room guy. Yeah. So he doesn't get nearly the credit that he gets, should get for the dynasty. And then also, I think one thing that's really important is he's there from the beginning of it. Not from the very beginning, but like first championship, he's a huge part of that. Us signing Shawn Livingston to that 3-year, $16 million deal, like really, really, really raised our chances. Yeah. The most elite backup point guard in the NBA at that time. Sean was huge to the dynasty.
Well, since you mentioned it as an example and we still have you here, let's do one more. I do want to hear about that 2016 regular season game against OKC and what you remember about that game and what it means to you now.
Man, that game is crazy, man. Me and Steve had the worst argument ever. At halftime. So Steve was just coming back from, that's the year that Steve missed a lot of time. He was coming back. And when he came back, I felt like my production dipped. And so I was just frustrated as hell, frustrated as hell. And it was just kind of boiling. He was frustrated with me, I was frustrated with him. And it was just kind of boiling, boiling, boiling. So fast forward, we play at OKC. —and I was dominating that game. I think I had 9 rebounds and 8 assists at halftime or something like that. 2 steals, 2 blocks. But I had 0 points. And I was 0 for 2 from the field. And the 2 shots that I took was like top of the key 3s. But I was dominating the game defensively. Getting guys involved. It's incredible. And, um, Steve showed both of the shots on film. Like, "Draymond, we can get better shots than this." I'm like, "Really?" He showed the first one. I was like, "Really, man? Like, I took two shots and you gonna show my one shot on?" And then the second one came and I really lost it. Like, "All right, man." And he's like, "What, Draymond?" And he started going crazy at me. I started going crazy at him. What was said is irrelevant. What is relevant is that Lisa Salters stood next to our door, our locker room door, and then went and reported live what was said in our locker room, which would be the equivalent of like standing at our door and then going to report our adjustments. It was like one of, like, I couldn't believe it. And Lisa's great. I forgave Lisa. I'm not a grudge holder. Mm-hmm. We talked, she apologized. She admitted that she was wrong and shouldn't have done that. Many years ago. We have no issues. I have zero issues with Lisa Salter. She's great. No problem at all. But that was low. That was wrong. But it happened. And so Steve was like, "You're done. You're not playing this half." And I took my shoes off. I threw 'em like, "All right." I put my shoes back on. I'm like, "Hell no, I'm playing." Yeah. And long story short, I finished that game with 17 rebounds and 16 assists and 1 point, 1 or 2 points. Dominated the game. But what you may remember about that game is Steph Curry's shot. And I remember Steph Curry's shot. He came across half, he pulled up from 3 over Andre Roberson from deep. He made the 3 and he came back down the court.
Yeah.
Ah, ah. But that was such a big win for us. Like, you know, you playing in OKC, that's KD, that's Russ. You know, we're the defending champs, we're having this incredible season. And like, they're making a run at it. And just like the way things went down in that game, like from the argument to the game-saving plays, Andre had a big play down the stretch. Everything we did to pull that game, like it was just one of them ones. It was one of them games that's a regular season game that doesn't, it's only one win, but it counts as more than one win. That was that game. And it was, I mean, wow, it was bananas.
