In this commentary, Draymond Green outlines the current NBA MVP race, naming Nikola Jokic as the DraftKings favorite followed by Shai Gilgeous‑Alexander, Luka Dončić, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Jayson Tatum. He points out that Tatum, despite being fifth in the race and leading his team by 7.5 games, now faces a shifted set of MVP criteria: he will not be taken seriously for the award unless he wins a championship. Green contrasts this with the treatment of past MVPs like Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Joel Embiid, who were recognized without a title, labeling the new expectation as "brutal" and urging acknowledgment of this fact.

So the MVP race right now, Joker is the favorite on DraftKings. SGA, Luka, Giannis, and Tatum, the next 4. You know, sometimes it's like that team is winning and that guy's the best player and playing well. Clearly the goalpost has shifted dramatically because in this guy's case, he's 5th and they got a 7.5-game lead. That goalpost is moving on JT. I don't know what JT gotta do. I do know what JT gotta do. I told y'all last time what JT gotta do. What? JT will not be taken serious for the MVP until he win a championship. And it just hasn't been that way for everybody else, I must say. Was not that way for Joker. It's not that way for Giannis. It's not that way for Joel. I mean, golly, that is brutal. Young fella, I don't know how the goalposts moved on you like that, but they should acknowledge it because those are the facts. Facts.
