Sam Cassell mentored a young Rajon Rondo on Boston Celtics #nba #celtics #bostonceltics #shorts

I think he's one of the best basketball minds I've ever witnessed. What was it like being a vet to a young guy like Rajon Rondo?

His thought process of the game of basketball was unbelievable. We was hard on him. I said, listen, man, you playing with 3 first ballot Hall of Famers. When they leave, you gonna see what you miss. Now he's there by himself. He called me, he was right old school. Goddamn. I think he should be a Hall of Famer, me personally. Yeah, I agree. The battles him and Doc had, man, it was just, He was the thoroughbred. Doc was just trying to coach him. And sometimes Doc would throw him outta practice. I'm 38, 39 years old at this time. I know when he got thrown outta practice, now I gotta practice now. You know what I'm saying? One day I went to go get him. Come on, Doe, come back. He come back. One day Doc was like, "Don't go get him. Let him go." But they had a great relationship. 'Cause Doe was a young basketball player. I told everybody, "He's gonna be good." Absolutely. He was two-time All-Star when he left. Yep. That's a fact.

So he was doing his thing. Absolutely.
