In a post‑game YouTube clip, Draymond Green lauds New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson for his Game 5 performance, highlighting Brunson’s 45‑point, clutch effort and his immediate handshake with opponent Mitch Johnson as a model of sportsmanship. Green then criticizes the San Antonio Spurs players for walking off the court without acknowledging the victors, arguing that true champions should look their opponents in the eye and offer respect. He references his assistant coach “AV” and shares a personal leadership maxim – “look your killer in the face” – to illustrate the difference between winning and losing attitudes. Green’s commentary blends praise, admonishment, and a broader lesson on leadership and respect in competitive sport.

Jalen Brunson did exactly what closers do. Nobody else can get it going in this closeout game, Game 5. On the road, I get it. Scored almost half the team points, 45. You ask yourself, what did he prove to the basketball world? Everything. Oh, by the way, y'all ain't gonna come shake my hand? No problem. What's the first thing Jalen Brunson did? Beeline to Mitch Johnson. Shook his hand. Respect. I would've loved for the Spurs players to be there for him to shake their hand. They walked off. Those that become champions, look them in their eyes and say, respect, congratulations. Well deserved. Me and AV, one of our assistant coaches, we always say, "Look your killer in the face." By the way, if you leave the court and you don't look me in my face and I just beat you, I actually know that I own you forever because you couldn't even look me in the face. I blame it on lacking the leader to show them that, "Hey, this is what you do, not walk off." There's a way to win and there's a way to lose. And not looking your killer in his eyes ain't the way to lose. Woo!
