Are Crystals Okay for Christians?

Justin R. Lester explains that crystals appear in the Bible but assigning them healing or spiritual powers is superstition. Owning them as jewelry is fine, but using them as healers contradicts Christian faith in prayer and Scripture.

And the answer, the question of the answer is Jesus. And I believe in contextualizing Scripture is going to give us the correct answer to our life's issues and life's questions and quandaries, if you will. So click the like and subscribe button because I believe in going to the word of God and getting not a conservative answer, not a liberal answer, but just getting the right answer. I've been to school for this. I went to Marquette University, Vanderbilt University, Boston University. I've been pastoring for some 10 years now and I've had a lot of questions as a pastor and this series for me is an opportunity to give some answers. So let's jump into today's question and answer session. So can we use crystals now? Crystals were mentioned in the Bible a bunch of times. Let me get to my answer. The Bible mentions Rubies, Proverbs, chapter 8, verse 11, Sapphire, Lamentations 4, verse 7, Topaz, Job 28:19 and for example, even the breastplate of Levitical priests had numbers of different types of rubies and crystals on them. Mentioned in Exodus, chapter 39, verses 10 through 13. Revelation 22 says, the river flowing from the heavenly throne is clear as crystal. The area before the throne is something like a sea of glass that's clear as crystal. Revelation 4 and 6, and it's spread out above the heads of living creatures for something looks like a vault sparkling like crystal. Ezekiel, chapter one, verse 22. So our crystals. Okay, yeah, but hold on before you tune me out and turn this off. If we assign mysticism to crystals, they're not okay. Crystals are used in the practice of crystal healing in our world, where we have a careful placing of crystals on a patient's body to line up or stimulate the body chakra and promote healing. That's not okay. Some believe that crystals have an inherent power that can be harnessed to use to their benefit. Some crystals are used to ward off evil spirits or bad energy and bring you good luck. Crystals are used in feng shui, where in the belief to emanate good vibrations and good vibes. Crystals that absorb bad energy in the process of protecting a home home, to cleanse the home and reset vibration. So our crystals. Okay. I mean, yeah, but are they? If they're your healer, if they have power if they world off evil spirits, if they're driving your clean your cleansing, then no, everything gets down to the purpose. Biblically, the Bible does not say that crystals are beneficial for attracting wealth, rekindling romance, or warding off evil spirit. Neither does it say that crystals are needed to connect with God's power. What the world has done has made what crystals are borderline an occult. The Bible warns against anything engaging again with superstition and the occult. Connecting that in our world has made it closer to witchcraft. God declares the practices of cults detestable. Deuteronomy 18, verses 10 through 12 Witchcraft is named, along with idolatry as ungodly behavior. The superstitious use of crystals is another example of fallen mankind taking what God has created and twisting it for an ungodly practice. Crystals are a striking example of God's handiwork. There's nothing wrong with having them in a ring or using them in home decor, wearing them as jewelry. But you need to know this. There is nothing magical about crystals. Crystals will not evoke the presence of God. Your prayer life does. If it's helpful to you and you like these questions and answer times, please please like and subscribe. Because I believe in just bringing the Scriptures directly to you and if you disagree or agree, go ahead in the comment section. I love to engage with.
