Are you a Pastor and don't know what to do about AI?

Justin R. Lester tells pastors to use AI for proofreading, emails, scheduling, and graphics so they have more time for actual ministry. He names Grammarly, ChatGPT, and Wonder AI as tools, but warns that AI can't replace sermon prep or prayer.

Pastor and I don't know what to do with artificial intelligence. And I see all these apps and videos. Here's another one. Can I help you out really quickly? I know I've talked about this before, but let me give you some ways that I believe artificial intelligence can assist you. What I love about AI is that AI is allowing us to take some of the mundane tasks that we have every single week and take it kind of off of our plate. Whether that's just proofreading certain things or running data or trying to understand or responding to certain emails. AI allows us through virtual assistants, through proofreading, through GR Grammarly, through ChatGPT, through Wonder AI to create graphics and do that. And so here are my challenges to you. Allow artificial intelligence brother or sister Pastor to take the mundane crap off your desk that you don't like doing in the first place. I want you to name three things that you're like, if I never had to do these again, I don't want to do them, like writing emails, scheduling appointments, and proofreading. Give it over to artificial intelligence. It should not replace your sermon preparation, but what it can do is proofread what you put on Instagram, proofread what you put on threads, what you it doesn't. It's not. Should not replace your time with God. But what it can do is ensure that how you communicate it to the people, how you get suggestions on graphics and things you can put online. Do help so that you can go and equip the sheep by, you know, counseling and administering pastoral care and visiting the sick in the hospital and meeting with those in high positions. Allow artificial intelligence to assist you by taking away the things that block us from being the shepherds that God has called us to be so that we can be the shepherds that God has called us to be. Don't be scared of AI, but embrace this is a part of that John 14 grader that we were able to do.
More from Justin

AI gives you hours back every week. Most people's first move is to fill those hours with more work.

Most people stall out on AI at the exact same step. They don't know where to start.

Thank you for the follow-ups, the messages, the emails, all of it since the New York Times piece. Gr

The New York Times spent a weekend with me. Digital twins, AI, the local church, all of it.
