A short YouTube sermon/commentary by Justin R. Lester (uploaded Jan 23, 2024) addressing whether astrology is demonic. Lester reviews historical practice and biblical references (Deuteronomy 18; Isaiah 47; Daniel 2), argues astrology is a form of divination and can distract people from God, but ultimately answers that astrology itself is not demonic and can be used by God (e.g., the visit of the wise men). Astrology is demonic. Now hear me out. Stick around to the end as we answer the question, Is astrology demonic? Astrology has been doing a comeback in the recent years, and the ancient art of looking to the stars and planets to determine human destiny actually has been practiced for thousands of years. The Bible talks about it. So is it a form of divination? Yes. It's mentioned in Deuteronomy 18, 10, 14. The Lord condemns the astrologers of Babylon to judgment through the prophet Isaiah. Isaiah 47, 13, 14. And Daniel puts these professional astrologers to shame when he interprets the king's dream through his reliance on God. Daniel chapter 2:27 28. But God triumphs over it. He actually used astrology to bring the good news of Jesus, the wise men. The problem today with astrology is that it seeks to replace the role only God can fill in our lives. At best, it's a silly distraction from the Lord and His purpose for us. At its worst, it serves as introduction to the spiritual forces of evil who seek to destroy you. So is it demonic? No. Is it a distraction? Yes. Can God use it? Absolutely. Do you want more truth like this? Be sure to like and subscribe so you don't have to wonder.
