Church folks keep asking me

Short video by Justin R. Lester addressing church concerns about AI and spiritual discernment. Lester argues that congregants often lack teaching on hearing God's voice, which drives them to use AI; he urges pastors to teach discernment and offers a three-step practice (sit in silence, solitude, and seeking).

You know, one of the things I always get help about when I talk about AI in church and all that is like, what about the sermon? What about the Holy Spirit? What about people listening to God? What about all this stuff? You know what? Let's be real here. Some of y' all don't listen to God when God be talking to you. So don't sit here and get mad about artificial intelligence. Here's what we can do. Maybe we can do what God tells us to do. We can listen to what God says and then teach other people how to hear the voice of God. Because the reason people are going to AI to discern whether or not it's God is because y' all didn't teach them how to do it in Sunday school in the first place. So stop getting mad at artificial intelligence for doing what we've been too lazy to do inside of Sunday school, what pastors have been too lazy to do across the pulpit. So here's how we find out and figure out the voice of God. Let me give you to it in three steps. Sit in silence. Sit in solitude, and sit seeking. So you sit. Turn off all the noise. You sit in solitude with the nobody else with God's voice, and you sit and seek until God says something. God. That's how you hear the voice of God. Don't get mad that people are going to artificial intelligence to find God's voice because we got too lazy to do inside of local churches, because we got so consumed with raising offerings and got so consumed with building our egos that we forgot how to reach the masses. We lift Jesus and sit to hear the voice of God. Maybe instead of getting mad at me that people using AI to hear the voice of God, maybe you, as leaders and church leaders and pastors can do a better job of teaching people how to hear the voice of God. And then when God tells you to do something, go do it. All right, like, and subscribe for more.

AI gives you hours back every week. Most people's first move is to fill those hours with more work.

Most people stall out on AI at the exact same step. They don't know where to start.

The New York Times spent a weekend with me. Digital twins, AI, the local church, all of it.
