Jesus was not born on December 25th. Now let me explain all of our theories about his birth. The shepherds in the middle of the winter, all of that in Israel. Let's talk about it. Here's where December 25 came from. The December 25 tradition came from a historian who calculated the date based upon assumptions about when Jesus was conceived. So when the Romans made Christianity the state religion, they converted the winter solstice holiday and then observed it on that day, December 25th. It was a day already marked by merriment and feasting and was repurposed for a Christian holiday commemorating the birth of Jesus. So what does that mean? Jesus is a sign of hope. In the darkness of our lives, no matter how dark our life is, Jesus brings hope. The day and traditions may have nothing to do with the Messiah, but we're making room for Jesus to come in, enjoy his birthday without letting the dates and the times and all that stop you. Enjoy the birth of Jesus and let him come into your life. If you like content like this, be sure to like and subscribe. We're here to talk about all these different things Christian related.
