Justin R. Lester explains how machine learning algorithms work by studying what people repeatedly search for and watch, then serving them more of the same. They're not magic or supernatural, just pattern-matching based on your behavior, which is why you see targeted ads and recommended posts tailored to you.

Machine learning. So machine learning is a subset where algorithms learn to perform better. That's why, like when you leave out of here or when you get on Facebook and you're like, oh, I don't know why I'm getting all these things on Facebook that want me to buy this purse that I keep thinking about, it's an algorithm. It ain't Jesus. It's an algorithm. It ain't. It ain't Jesus. That's why I laugh, too. I'm gonna say this, brothers, you're gonna hate me. That's why when I get brothers come to me all the time. And they'd be like, pastor, I don't understand why these half naked girls are on my Facebook page. Because you keep looking for them. Because it's only showing you. It's learning from your data to give you what you want. So, sisters, if them brothers ain't got shirts on, your subset too, it's learning from your data to give you what you want.
