Hey, welcome back to 60 seconds on technology Today. We're talking about cookies and how to stay safe on the Internet. So what are cookies? You know that little thing you get up, listen. Cookies are small pieces of data that the website stores on your computer or any device whenever you access it. They use for a variety of reasons like tracking your preferences or your activities, to personalize your experience on every website and to improve the website's performance. But it's important that cookies can be misused by companies and individuals with really bad intentions. So to stay safe online, here's a couple of things you can do. First of all, make sure to use an up to date web browser that's equipped with the latest security features. Secondly, consider using your browser settings to block any third party cookies that will allow the website to only get it when you're visiting on that device. Another tip is two factor authentication. When you buy anything, that means if anyone ever gets access to your account, they can't log in without reaching out to your phone or some other authentication method. Also, be sure to delete any cookies from your websites in history that you don't recognize or don't have legitimate purposes. You can do this by just going through your settings panel of your web browser. And lastly, keep an eye out for changes to websites that you go to all the time. If you're unfamiliar with something or if a button looks odd, it might be a scam site. And then lastly, get some good antivirus software or anti malware software that detests weird cookies. By following these steps, you can take control of your online experience and stay safe while browsing the Internet. That was 60 seconds on tech. Catch you soon.
