Justin R. Lester identifies three skills for late 2026: mastering prompt engineering to leverage AI without expensive tools, iteratively refining AI outputs instead of accepting the first draft, and building simple modular systems that don't depend on any single app. These practices preserve human agency and protect against replacement by early 2027.

Hey you, I want you to stop scrolling. I want to give you 3 skills you can master for the second half of 2026. You're trying to understand this season, AI, and where you fit. Most leaders are still chasing tools and you're going to get replaced by March of next year. Here's some things that I think you need to know to get to the future. Prompt engineering, prompting mechanics. Prompting is how you make AI work for you without you having to buy a bunch of tools to make AI work. First of all, learn how to prompt. Second, refining. Learn how to refine your responses and to not take the first response. Second, refining, not taking the first response is gonna be the leaders of the future. You shape answers over several rounds, refining as you go and reading AI output with a critical eye, checking it against what you know before it goes anywhere. That's gonna be also helpful. Last, build simple systems that outlast any single app by itself. Be sure that you know that you're not giving everything over to one tool or everything over to one app, but you know who you are. In essence, if you guys can't tell, humanity still matters. You matter. Matter. Proofread your responses. Never take the first response. Refine that and learn how to prompt. You matter right now. And everything going with artificial intelligence, it's still human agency. Those are the 3 things I highly recommend you doing. And you got to be a part of this whole system. The creative thinkers and creative minds are going to be the ones that outlast the AI boom. All right, like and follow for more. Peace.
