The Latest AI News You Need to Know (5/17)

A short topical YouTube update (May 17, 2024) by Justin R. Lester summarizing five recent AI developments for a mixed audience of Christians and tech-interested viewers: (1) proposed U.S. restrictions on AI model exports, (2) Nvidia enhancing its ChatRTX chatbot with new models, (3) OpenAI partnering with Stack Overflow to boost ChatGPT's technical knowledge, (4) Microsoft building secure AI solutions for intelligence agencies, and (5) Google’s AlphaFold 3 advancing protein-structure prediction for drug discovery. The host concludes with promotion of his book (The Church of AI) and an AI masterclass, and social/media calls-to-action.

Well, hey everybody, it's Justin. And welcome to my YouTube page again. And don't forget to hit that like and subscribe button I'm on here. One of the things about me, I realized that I can use my AI, my YouTube page, nature, just who I am as a human being. And one of the things I am as a human and one of the things I love is technology. If you guys haven't noticed, when it comes to artificial intelligence or things like that, just part of my own passions is there. So I thought why not give you a rundown of what's happened in AI this week and to do just five things that I think are important and then one app I think you should try when it comes to AI. So those of you who follow me for my Christian content, hopefully this helps you in your Christian work as well, because I believe to use this stuff for the local church. Those of you who follow me for technology, I hope this helps you as well. So let's jump right into it. Here are five things I believe that you need to know that happened in artificial intelligence this week. Number one, the US has restricted imports of AI models. So what's happened is a bipartisan group of lawmakers introduced a bill empowering the Biden administration to limit the export of AI models to other nations. Why is this important? Well, this move aims to safeguard US technology from falling into the wrong hands. So it's important for all of you because this aim aims to protect the sensitive AI tech from falling into the hands of the wrong people. It has implications for national security, economic competitiveness, and responsible AI being deployed globally. These restrictions and these regulations we are seeing in the eu, we're seeing overseas, and it's really good to see them happening in the United States. Number two, Nvidia is Chat RTX is being enhanced. And so what happened is Nvidia's AI Chatbot now supports several new models, including glucose, Gemma, chat, glm3 and OpenAI's clip. These additions allow the chatbot to process photo searches more effectively. Remember, the way the machine learning works is that you're telling the, you're telling them what to do, you're giving them data. And the data we give is in what tells it what to do, what to think and how to respond. And this is a big deal, Nvidia being as big as it is and expansive as it is. Nvidia is now supporting new models of bringing Google Chat LLM. And it's important because enhanced chatbot capabilities improve natural language understanding, making interactions more seamless, impacts customer service, virtual assistants and user experience. These things are happening while you're sleeping, so I want you to be aware of them. So number three, OpenAI and Stack Overflow are being are collaborating. So OpenAI partner with Stack Overflow to integrate more technical knowledge into ChatGPT, enhancing its capabilities. So why this important? Because access to technical expertise within ChatGPT enhances its utility for developers, for learners and problem solving, and bridges the gap between AI and practical programming challenges. The more that ChatGPT and all of these LLMs learn, the easier it is for it to be applied into our world. Which is why I think you need to know it and how to use it so it doesn't take you out. It will not replace humans, but it will replace the humans who don't use it. Before Microsoft secure AI for intelligence agencies what happened? Microsoft is developing secure AI solutions for intelligence agencies, ensuring robust protection and responsible use. This is important because ensuring robust protection, ethical use of AI in sensitive contexts is really, really important. It impacts national security, privacy and responsible AI governance. And then lastly, Alpha Fold 3 advances its drug discovery. So out Google's Alpha Fold 3 continues to predict protein structures, aiding in its drug discovery efforts. And that's important because accurate protein structure prediction accelerates drug discovery, potentially eugenizing medicine. It's a breakthrough in computational biology. Listen, all of this is happening while we're sleeping. We can either be hit with it or hopefully I can hit you with it. If you want more updates on things like this. Actually wrote a whole book on artificial intelligence for those of you who are Christians and I wrote a book, it's called the Church of AI. Those of you who are non Christians just don't read the two chapters on ASAI in the Bible. I talk about a futurist mindset. I talk about the essential nature of understanding AI, job replacement and ethical uses of AI. I also have an AI masterclass that goes over all this information as well. If you're interested, go to my website jr Lester.com the links are in the show notes and the links to all these, all these new sources as well are in the show notes. I want you to be up to date as to what's happening in the world, why it's important and and why you need to know what's going on so you're not hit with it. More from Justin

AI gives you hours back every week. Most people's first move is to fill those hours with more work.

Most people stall out on AI at the exact same step. They don't know where to start.

Thank you for the follow-ups, the messages, the emails, all of it since the New York Times piece. Gr

The New York Times spent a weekend with me. Digital twins, AI, the local church, all of it.
