Top 3 AI Tools for Churches and Pastors

Justin R. Lester walks through three AI tools for churches: Pastor GPT for sermon prep and guides built for Black pastors, Gamma for turning text into slides and graphics, and ManyChat for automating messages. He shows how they work together on a sermon about Kendrick Lamar and the Resurrection.

Hey everybody, Justin here and I'm that tech master. So I'm so grateful for your presence here with us on our stream today. Listen, I wanted to take a moment to talk about AI and some tools that you can use inside of your church and how you can immediately infuse AI into your church using three simple tools. Today we're going to talk about three and that's Gamma. We're going to talk about mini chat, we're going to talk about something that I've been using called Password GPT, something that I built for you and I'll show you how to get there. If you want links to all these are in the links below on this thing as well. So stick around with us today we're going to go through three tools. We're going to do them rather fast but you can feel free to take along, follow along and do this again with you as well. Don't forget like and subscribe for more. We're giving you daily content. Be sure to check out our shorts and also follow me on that techfaster on Instagram and TikTok. We're doing this with shorts every day and I want to get back to doing some more long form content. So let's jump right into this. As we jump into this today, I think it's best for us to always start with definitions. Right? Starting with definitions is going to help us. So definition artificial intelligence. Right. So AI is to me decentralized human intelligence. This goes all the way back to Harry Houdini way back in the early 1900s who was using a robot named Q in his movies trying to figure out how we decentralize. We delocate the human brain and still have something operating with us. AI is not just a tool now for tech companies or large corporations. We see healthcare, we see education infusing this and I think it's here to make a difference in our churches. I think it can help us in a couple of ways. Sermon preparation, church administration, engaging with our congregation, streamlining our tasks for we can do one thing, focus more on ministry and not time consuming stuff. Here's the thing, as a pastor who's gone to seminary, I've gone to divinity school. I've done all the setting, all the research, all the work. I didn't go to school for emailing and all these other things that are very menial. And this is where I believe AI can assist, especially the small church pastor to the large church pastor. I think it changes how we culturalize and how we build our culture of our teams and how we do this work. So we're looking at three tools. We'll get Password GPT, we'll look at Gamma and we'll look at ManyChat. And I believe all of these can assist in your day to day operations. So first of all, Pastor GPT. So pass through GPT is a tool that I made as a black pastor that I realized that as all the tools that are out there, all the deep research, all the work that's out there, there's not a lot of tools for black pastors and black ministry leaders. And so I said, well, why not put something into the GPT store that's completely free that pastors will be able to use to assist them, especially black pastors, in engaging with and not losing their blackness in the process of doing the work that God's called them to do. So let me show you how to navigate to this. So show you how to navigate to pass through GPT. Once you go into ChatGPT, you get the sidebar. Your sidebar is open and you can go into Explore GPTs. You click on Explore GPT, you search Pastor GPT and you're going to see my name pop up here. For some reason somebody gave me a three star rating. So forget that. But we're going to go into Star Chat and you can see here it's a pastoral tool centering African American liberation theology, cultural exegesis and deconstruction. You can see the conversation starters it has. We'll start a chat here. And what you can see inside of Pastor GPT, it gives you an opportunity to really think about some other work. So here, how can I fuse acromeric culture in my church? What are key themes? Deconstructed passage, all of that and financial strategy. So what I put into this GPT is I put in a scholar GPT so you can search scholarly journals. I put it also into this marketing as well so it can help you also market your church. You can ask it to create a 30 day marketing plan and then also finances as well. So if you have a space where you need to get financial trends, trying to navigate what's happening with inside of your church, it'll help you as well. So let's do something very simple and I'll put a prompt in here that's very simple. Help me research and organize a study on Kendrick Lamar and the Resurrection. The Resurrection, yeah. So we're going to put a very simple prompt in here. I'm going to do this so we can do a marketing plan as well as a Sermon for it, organize a study with sermon suggestions. And I want you to see why it's important to me. So as we do this, I'm saying help me organize a setting Kendrick Mar Resurrection with sermon suggestions. And so we're using Pastor GPT. We're in chat GPT4O. So it's going to give us a decent response. I'm not using 4.5 or deep research right now, but I'm just going to simply give you this so we can have it. A very simple way for you to see how Pastor GPT works. So you can see ascetic Kendrick Lamar in the Resurrection. You can see here it was challenging us to do. So it's giving us structure, what sessions we can look like, what scriptures we can go to. So they're giving us a song. All right, from Timid Butterfly we got how much a dollar costs Mortal Man Single Me Dying of Thirst. And this can give us different sermon series, series suggestions as well. So it's kind of cool. So you can see, like I said, I built this for black pastors, built this for black leaders. Really infusing, making sure of using culture, we're infusing the word of God and deconstruction as we continue to just not lose who we are. And this is where it's based in a lot of cone, a lot of Harris, a lot of Andrews to put this in here as well. So you can see here the way that it's coming out, it's pretty cool. I think this is cool. Then lastly, it's going to give us daily readings as well. We'll come back when this is done to give you the next steps on it too. Because what I wanted to create for US is a 30 day marketing plan. The other part to this as well, what I'm infused in the passive GPT is not just assisting a sermon prep because it will not write a sermon for you, but also what I infused into it as well as marketing and finances. You can see here it's giving you daily readings, giving you leaders guide and actually how to put it together, all of that in learner pages as well, which I think is pretty cool. And this is where I put these learner pages into this so that when you're writing a sermon, it will also make sure it helps you with small groups. So this is already built into passive GPT. So as you can see here, so we not only got the study on it, we not only got what the sermon suggestions are, we also got study materials on it. And I also gave you A leader's guide and a student guide. So you could tell it to build this out for you and then tell it to download it as a word document. But this is intentional inside of Passer GPT where when you ask it to a sermon it will also give you the small group guide you see, the learner's guide and all of that you can see here. It'll bridge the gap between hip hop and theology. So at the bottom you can see Would you like me to format this first study booklet or sermon series handout? And we're not going to put it in there right now, but what I wanted you to see here is how powerful that I made this Pastor GPT to make it so that you can see how you can infuse culture, the gospel and how working together is going to be really great for you. You the other part too. So like create for me a seven day marketing plan to share this online app before and after the sermon. So what's pretty cool, what's also in Pastor GPT that I put on purpose is marketing and finances. So I realized that for pastors it's one thing to have the marketing side, it's one thing to have the church side, sorry, the preaching side, they're thinking to have marketing and finances. So what I then put made sure that we had inside of Passer GPT is a way for you to do a marketing plan and a finance plan so you literally can just tell it to do it. So in this case, if you are doing Kendrick Lamar and the resurrection, you can see here, it'll honestly give you the space where you can go pre sermon marketing exactly how you're going to do it, what you're going to do. It'll give you this, give you the call to action, it'll give you the, the post sermon marketing as well. And so this whole piece is going to give you a seven day marketing plan already built into ChatGPT, built into Pastor GPT. If you want a link to Pastor GPT, it's in the comments below and I think that'd be a way for you to engage in and how to continue to build and make your life a lot easier when it comes to using artificial intelligence in your church, especially for those who are black pastors as well. Now this can also go for non black pastors too. But for me as a black pastor, there weren't a lot of spaces for us to have a space that's going to look completely at black liberation theology, that's going to look at ways that we can engage in scripture, look at deconstruction and, and also not lose who Jesus is in the process of understanding who Christ is. So you can see here, once again, you can see what it means. It's leading up to the sermon, a teaser and then the recaps and exactly how to recap and how to apply it. And it gives you a full fledged seven day marketing plan. And what's going to be pretty cool is so yeah, it's giving you extended places and then also it's going to give you, if you want it to actually make the graphics for you. Now I'm not going to do this here because we're going to go to Gamma in a second, but the cool thing about this is that this gives us a chance to make, to actually make the graphics if we wanted it to make the graphics. And what's really cool about this is that if we wanted ChatGPT to make the graphics or content, there's a plugin for this automatically in Canva where we can send this stuff over to Canva and make our own template and then it'll put everything in there for you. So there's some really cool ways. We'll do another Canva video another time. If you want to see some stuff on Canva, you can go to my Instagram or my TikTok and you can see I already have a whole series on some tricks and tips in Canva. But this is where Pastor GPT can help you. So if you want to try out Pastor GPT, it's in the comments below. Go right ahead and, go right ahead and have some fun with Pastor GPT. So you can. The reason I did this on purpose is you can quickly access biblical text, you can explore references, get fresh ideas and have conversations with it. So if you're going to prep a Sunday morning sermon, a Bible study, a special event, I think Pastor GPT personally, because, because I made it, is going to be really, really meaningful for you and really assist in accelerating the work that you do. Secondly, we're going to take a look at Gamma. Now Gamma is such a powerful, powerful tool. I really like Gamma. And every time I talk about Gamma, Gamma is always just so much fun to see because one of the cool things about Gamma, it's, to me it's like PowerPoint on steroids. And what Gamma does is Gamma gives you an opportunity to really make PowerPoint presentations in a nick of time. And so what we're going to do is, you guys saw earlier the work we did with Kendrick Lamar and so we're going to go and get the slideshow we had on Kendrick Lamar and we're going to, we're going to place that. We're going to place the sermon series on Kendrick Lamar into Gamma and then we're going to make a slideshow based upon our series on Kendrick Lamar, mainly one of the studies from Kendrick Lamar. And to make our lives so much easier to see what we can do with this as well. So I'm going to share my screen so you can see what this looks like. When you log into Gamma, you're going to see a couple of things. You're going to see paste in text, you're going to see generate or import file or URL. Here's what I want you understand about all of this. When you paste in text, you're paste. That's what we're going to use today. You're pasting in something, right? You're just going to copy and paste and put something in. When you do generate, you're going to then make something, you're going to do use generative AI. You're going to make something fresh and brand new. And when you're importing a file or URL, that's that means you're literally going to a blog or to a, maybe a PowerPoint you already have or PDF you already have and you're going to put that into the, put that into Gamma. So what we're going to do here actually I was going to copy and paste from ChatGPT. What I'm going to do actually is you're going to watch me do this live. I'm going to go and take the original prompt I have from password GPT, put it into Gamma under generate and we're going to generate a whole space for us. Now there's a couple things I want you to see here. When it comes to Gamma, you can do four different things. So you don't just have to make presentations. You can make a webpage, you can purchase a URL and actually deploy the webpage. You can make a document or what's really cool, you can make social media posts. So you can also take your sermons, put them into Gamma and make social media posts from the sermon itself. Social presentation, website documents or social media. In this case, we're going to organize a study in Kendrick Lamar and the resurrection and write sermon suggestions and we're going to generate an outline. Pretty cool. So we're going to watch this, do this live for us. We're just going to generate based upon Kendrick Lamar, the resurrection is going to give us certain sermon suggestions as you can see here. So you can see it's a little bit different, right? So the differences between what we saw in Pastor GPT, where we're really going to dive into and make a whole study for us doing it in Gamma, it's going to look more at Kendrick because there's more information on Kendrick than it is on merging Kendrick in the gospel. And it's not going to do the deep research on scholarly work that we did before. So. So you can see there's a difference. If we were to copy and paste directly from password GPT be a little different. But I wanted us to do this here. So what we're going to do here is we're going to generate. You can see it made us an outline for everything here. Now we're going to generate this. So what's pretty cool is as we generate this, It's going to give us the entire presentation and we're going to sit here and I'll talk to you as we do it. But you can see there's some areas that we can improve it, areas we can change it. And I'll go through that in a second. But you can see here all the ways is going to engage. So it's going to look at. It's going to give you AI images using flux to make his images. I really like Flux. I think here as we improve this and engage it further, you can see the different motifs that it found, the ways that it saw how Kendrick infused the work that he did and how it aligns with the gospel and then giving you sermon suggestions. I kind of like this from Damned to Redemption and Dying to Self. Hip hop, gospel, things like that. Kind of cool. So you can see here putting it all together and it gives you all this. So let's go all the way to the beginning of it as well. So Kendrick Lamar and the Resurrection. The study, so it found connections between Kendrick Lamar and Christian resurrection themes. That's obviously not Kendrick Lamar, but it was an AI generated image. Because of Kendrick and probably the protections on his image. You're going to get not the perfect image of Kendrick, but you can see they talked about this. Let's see, Resurrection themes. Good Kid, Mad City, Pimp, Butterfly, Damn Tomorrow, Olympic Strippers. Great albums by the way, going through. So you can see it was trying to do its very best to get similar to what Kendrick did. So not gonna give you the exact Kendrick Lamar images. You can always edit these images in Gamma as well. Biblical parallels. Pretty cool concept of dying to self you see that definitely Kendrick's work, community and restoration. Absolutely. And then sermon suggestions. And it gives you from damn to redemption, dying to self, hip hop, gospel, resurrection in the streets. Pretty dope. And then discussion questions as well that you can use and it ends it for you now you can always add more slides. You can export this to PowerPoint. It's pretty cool. One thing I like about Gamma is that Gamma gives you a chance to really, really, really infuse and be yourself. Where you're able to, you know, get key points, you're able to get, you generate different images, be able to really get a professional presentation. It's clean, it's simple. You can change the backgrounds if you paste it in text or generate from a URL. We have some more customization we can do, but I think Gamma is a game changer, especially if you're juggling multiple tasks. Whether it's handouts you need to use, whether it's your sermon slides you have to do, whether it's vision casting, whether it's summarizing a meeting to send things out. I think Gamma takes the stress out of presentation prep. What used to take us hours to do with the PowerPoint presentation, you do in seconds with Gamma. So go try out Gamma if you want to. I think it'd be a really, really great tool for you to engage with in your church as well. Lastly is mini chat. Now manychat to me is, you know, I think one of the biggest challenges we face is staying connected with people. And especially the worst thing I've seen so far is like link in bio, stop using it. That's where ManyChat comes in. So many chat allows you to set up automated communication across all your platforms like Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and even text messaging. So whether you have a prayer request, whether it's an event reminder or service update, many chat, make sure your members are always in the loop. So let me show you what it looks like. So what ManyChat. So we're going to log in to ManyChat. It's the free version of ManyChat. And what you can do here, I won't show you all my automations and things like that, but what ManyChat's gonna do, you have a space where you have your contacts. You also have automation as well. And what you can do is you can auto DM links from comments, right? So this is just me, this is a brand new site. I'm not gonna show you my personal setup, but what you can do here. So this is one I'm Adding my personal Instagram to this as well. So you can say when someone comments on this particular reel. So let's say someone comments on websites that save you time and money. You can see I say comment clone and I'll send it to you. I have another automation set up on it. So they comment on this, I say this. And if they comment the word clone, right, if they comment the word clone and I click next, that means they're going to get a dm. Hey there, we're so happy. Thank you for your interest. Click below and I'll send you the link. Then they're going to get a DM with the link. Very simple, to the point. And once I set this automation up, if anybody comments clone on my post, they'll automatically get a link. They'll automatically get a message from me and I'll get their information to my contacts and that way it's automating the post. Now this is the free version. Now in the free version you can only do it on one post at a time. In the paid version, you can do it on any post. I'll show you this earlier. So in the paid version you can do any poster reel or the next poster reel. So like on the paid version I have in another space, I have it on every post that I have. So any post of the comment, AI list a comment, anything, or on my post they get a link to something. That's why when you see me on Instagram socials, it's comment X, you'll get this, Comment X, you'll get this. And so in this case as well, comment, whatever, you're going to get this. So it's pretty cool. I would highly suggest churches try out, try out using try out, using mini Chat. I think ManyChat is a game changer. I think ManyChat is very, very helpful. I think ManyChat will assist you in doing some amazing, amazing work for the sake of your church and for the sake of the work that you need to do with it. You can automate your communication still keep personal touches, stay connected with people, gain information. And really it's a marketing funnel. So that way you're able to make sure you're always engaging with your people, following up with the people and engaging. So listen, I hope that this was helpful for all of you guys. So go check out Passive GPT. Go check out Gamma. Go check out manychat. The links are below. I'm not an affiliate for Passive GPT is what I made completely free. Gamma is out there. There's a free version, also paid version. Then many chat. There's a free version and a paid version. Whatever. One of those things work for you. Please go try it out. Go build your church. Go build the body of Christ. Once again, I'm that tech pastor. I'm here to give you the business for your business. To build the body of Christ, to build your church. To make your life easier so we can do one thing. Go shepherd the people and tell them of the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. You have an amazing day. I'll see you next time. Peace.
