YouTube cooking video by Justin R. Lester demonstrating how to cook a tri-tip like a brisket using a smoker. The host describes a coffee-cayenne rub, binder oil, and a low-and-slow Traeger smoker method at 225°F for about 3.5 hours, finishing by buttering and wrapping the meat and resting before slicing.

Hey, everyone, Brown dad here. We're gonna make a tri tip like a brisket. It's thing to me is the cheaper way to go to feed and then get all the aspects of a brisket, but not the cost of brisket. I'm using a coffee rubic, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper and garlic powder, a little bit of oil as a binder. And there you go. We're gonna take it. We're gonna go throw it on the smoker. I'm using a Traeger. The way to go 225 for three and a half hours. Put it right there. If you have fat, fat side down, then you say hold it back up. 3 hours in 165 internal take, take it off, put butter on top, wrapped it in aluminum foil. Or you can just put your paper, let it rest for half hour.
Look at that. Like butter. Look at that, look at that. Look at that smoke ring, look at that. Oh, man. Oh, you gotta keep all that ring, see? And it cuts. You cook it like brisket.
