Short YouTube commentary by Justin R. Lester reporting that scientists in China are developing humanoid ‘pregnancy robots’ with an artificial womb capable of carrying a fetus for about 10 months. The video notes uncertainty about implantation and delivery mechanics, cites an estimated cost of $14,000 versus human surrogates, and highlights ethical and theological concerns while soliciting viewer opinions.
Scientists in China are building humanoid pregnancy robots that can actually carry babies to term. You guys gotta see this.
In China are developing a device that they call a pregnancy robot. Here's what's going on. It has an artificial womb, and in its abdomen that would receive nutrients through a hose. The robot would be able to carry a fetus for about 10 months before giving birth. You heard that, right. It's not clear how the fertilized egg would be implanted in it or how the bot would give birth. This sounds like a science fiction movie. Usually this is where the Matrix comes into play and Neo has to come save humanity. Hiring a humanoid to carry out a baby would reportedly cost about $14,000. That's a fraction of what a human surrogate would be paid. If all goes to plan, the prototype could be ready by as early as next year.
Now, some are calling it a breakthrough for infertility. Others are calling it terrifying. What in the world? What do you. What would you guys. Would you guys allow your baby to be carried in a robot till term? What do you think? I want to hear your thoughts in the comments. Is this a game changer or is this a nightmare? And there's a lot of theological and ethical questions I have here, but what do you guys think? Is this a game changer? Is this a nightmare? I'd love to hear.
