This is a YouTube video titled "Businesses Stuck? Comfort Kills Growth! (Don't Be One!)" containing a discussion between two speakers about challenges business owners face in growing and selling their businesses, focusing on issues like pricing, comfort zones, and common reasons for selling. The content was created in May 2025 and explores business growth and exit strategies.
When you mentioned the year one of being painful for some people that aren't educated or just don't know that year one is like year one through 30, because I never figured out.
They never become exitable. They never. What I find with most of the clients that I work with for the exitable business is that most of them have had their businesses 30, 40 years, but they haven't raised prices. I haven't. They're just comfortable. Like, my husband is a perfect example of this. He's been a builder for 40 plus years and he really struggles with charging more because he just, in his head, it's too much. Eventually they get pretty comfortable. They get tired. They have enough money. They have enough money that they just stop growing it. They stop paying attention to like raising prices and being really intentional about where they're going. Like, she recognizes I need to sell, I want to sell. And I also don't want to see it get destroyed. So I'm going to be smart and plan. And that's the thing. Most of us just get to a place like something. The reasons people sell is like divorce, health. Right. And so the other statistics. So I love these two statistics because it just makes your brain hurt a little bit. Number one, up to 85% of listed businesses never sell. 85%.
