All right, so we're here at Glacier National Park. Today we're going to do a little podcast. This is technically, I think this is episode 60. So on the Discovering Mount Everest podcast. I've already had her on the show today or previously in Monterey. Shanine, thank you for joining. I'm a little thrown off by the captivating.
I know this is your first time hike, first time.
Kudos to you I've ever done. And I can't go back because of these views now I have a little creek back at home. I'm gonna look at it and be sad. I'm gonna cry every time I see it because I'm gonna think about the beautiful views here. So we're gonna talk a little bit about what we learned over the past three days. So let's, let's start with you. What do you, what did you learn out of this trip?
I think the biggest thing, what I learned is there's no such a thing called competition. Let's talk about why is that. So apparently we're here. We're not even invited to this ultra exclusive mastermind that's specific for Pyromoney Landing. And I was told originally there was about 70 people got in an invite, right? But when we actually got in is because a lot of people didn't show up. Why didn't shop?
They didn't show up because they didn't. What really happened is they looked at how expensive the flights were, how expensive the hotel was, how expensive the car rentals were, and they were like, oh, I don't know if I should do that. Plus, it was free. It was a free event to them. Pace was giving, I don't know, 15, 20, I think it was worth $50,000 just being in the room. Even if it was information you already know. Just looking at, like how they run a mastermind, professional mastermind, the cadence, the flow, the agenda, everything is priceless.
Plus the people in the room, right? The people in the room is where the money's at. A lot of people are very high caliber investor. You go into a very filtered room. But anyhow, these people didn't show up because. Not because they didn't know about this mathematician. Because a lot of us, which happen to me all the time too, we sometimes scramble last minute, right? So in their minds, oh, I know the day, I'll just book it as the day get closer. I'll book the flight as the day get closer. But what they didn't realize is that there's a huge event in town. So the hotel that Used to cost about 200, less than $300. All of a sudden, shoot all the way up to 700 to 800 dol. Plus, there's a small town in Kalispur, Montana. There's not that many rental cars. So even a rental car is like $300 a night. And we haven't even count the flight ticket. I know I have a person telling me that they pay almost 4,000 round trip ticket flight to Kaspa. So I think because of that, a lot of people decided not to go. Not because they didn't have a spot, because they didn't plan ahead. So lesson number one that I learned is there's no such a thing as a competition if you are a good planner. If you're a good planner, there's always an advantage. So plan ahead. Next time, when you have an amazing opportunity coming up, don't wait, just sign up. Just plan ahead. Book your travel. You'll be here, and then you'll be here with us. Me and Mundo, we've been having heck out of fun, right?
Yeah. It wasn't even the Pride money mastermind. It was also just the OC trip in general for owners club.
Oh, yes. The live fishing trip. Oh, my God. I don't even know where they start.
There was like, what? I don't know, 40, 50 people that didn't even show up to that. It's crazy.
Yeah. How many fish you got?
I got one, but did you go.
To the day when the day was like so cold and do you go to the lake?
No, I didn't have that excuse. Yeah, Joe caught like 50 something, so.
He caught like.
Yeah, it was. It was crazy.
Actually.
We were on the same day Thursday. You were just. You were screaming. You were too busy screaming, catching all the fish too. You were stealing the fish from me. I will say that. I have the pleasure of saying that I hooked more people than I hooked three people. I hooked myself. I slapped myself with the bait.
Yeah.
And then I hooked Andrea. And then I hooked our guide. I got. I tried to get him a few times. He finally got caught. He caught it a few times.
Yeah. It was so much fun. I just keep hooking the fish up. Like every minute or two, there's a fish on the hook. It was so fun. So fly fishing, if you ever had a chance to come to Montana, highly recommend. Go search for fly fishing. It's so worth it to take the guy with you. They take the boat out with you, get everything set up for you. It's just such an amazing experience. I'M actually thinking about bringing my kids and my husband back here as well.
That's amazing. Yeah. The guide was instrumental because the fish I caught, I would have been like, what do I do now?
Yeah. It's so fun. And a couple like a few of us, even Castle Trout. Right. The Cuddy, we call it Cuddy. That's one of the kind. So it was pretty awesome. So, yeah. Other than the travel, what can we share with the audience?
It's really just about getting in the right room and being in a community like Sub2Owners Club, you know all of them. Right. It's not about the content. The content's great. The contracts are amazing. That's cool. It's a very transactional thing though. It's really about being in relationship with the people. Especially in a higher filtered room. You're not having the same level of conversations of, hey, I'm trying to find my first deal. You're dealing with people with really mindset issues to even get started before they can find a deal. You're having high growth conversations and it's about getting in that filter room and that's what this trip is about. And it's about deepening those relationships. People do business with people they know and trust.
They like and trust. That's so important. They like and trust. So if they never seen you met, you know who you are. It's really hard to just post a post on any social media, say, I have this amazing deal, I need this amount of money. I think they miss out 10 steps ahead of like trying to get to know that lender, trying to get to know what they're looking for so they can bring the right opportunity. I think that's why a lot of us felt short on that. So this mastermind does really change my mind and my approach here a little bit. That's for me. What about you? What do you think?
Yeah, I really enjoyed looking at it. I was looking at the content of the PML mastermind from the lens of if I want to put on my own type of mastermind, what does that look like? So I was. The content was good, but a lot of it was. Some of it was pretty basic. Like I already knew a lot of that stuff. They did give me some great insight. Like I enjoyed Abraham Gray talking about foreclosures. I knew pretty well about liens, but I didn't understand how that fit within the foreclosure process. So that was good information to know, but I just enjoyed watching the flow. And if you really think about the value behind It. Okay, so Pace invites all the PMLs. Right. They're coming there to an event. And that whole workshop was Pace and the team showing, pulling the curtain back, showing exactly what they do step by step. And what that does is it sends a subliminal message to all the PMLs that, wow, they are doing so much to protect my money. I'm gonna give them more without him ever saying, give me more money. Yeah, he just shows you through transparency. And I love that his team does a good job. And he did the same thing with raising capital. He wrote he raised 400k plus right. On a call, in a call. And never once did he say, invest money with me. He basically just shared through transparency how secure it is investing with him without.
Saying, yeah, I'm gonna hold for a second, turn down my.
You got music playing.
Yeah, so I'm gonna turn that down so it doesn't mess up my stuff and then we can continue. Okay. I don't know if it's still recording. All right, I'm gonna start again.
What a beautiful view.
I think your editor can cut off that part.
Yeah, no worries.
Okay.
Beautiful.
All right, we're back at it because my phone alarm just went off.
Anyway, I thought it was the ambiance music setting the scene.
Ye. I like how you just mentioned about there's we could do to keep our money protected. It's all about asking the right question. Right. So a lot of people are not informed. Like, for example, like the lean, the cost.
Buddy, come back up here. Get up here, Hank.
Get up there. Hank.
Buddy, listen to me. You are to stay on the trail.
This is also trail. We have a little kid. It's a very family friendly trail. Anyway, so the biggest thing, what I learned is a lot of time I say no to a lot of deal, that when they come to me, there's no equity. So, like, when there's no equity in my mind, well, there's no protection. Oh, my God. What is that?
We need to get this on camera.
Oh, my gosh. That's like a mountain marmot.
Hopefully you can see that.
Hi, buddy. Look at that. Holy crap.
Live on the podcast.
That's pretty awesome. It's pretty awesome.
I feel like I need to get some footage of this guy. That's so cool.
Yeah, send that to me. Wow. Blow it up, Blow it up. Whoa. So cool. The first animal sighting of the day.
Yeah, I'm glad that wasn't a grizzly bear because we would have been thrown off the mountain.
We'll probably leave the camera behind because I see ya. All right. Okay. I love this Roll tape. We'll just roll with it. Anyway, so yeah, there's so many things that I didn't know. I'm lending money as well to a lot of project. But in the past I said no to a lot of projects. They come to me, I run numbers. There's no equity, there's no protection. If there's no equity, how am I going to get out of it if the project fail? So now I can take another approach. If this person come to me, want me to lend money to them, they don't have equity for this project but it's a really good project. Then I would then ask them what other asset you have? Do you have any other asset that has equity? How would I put a link on your other asset instead of putting a link on this project I'm lending you money for. So if they don't perform, I can shop, foreclose other asset to get the money back. So they're incentivized to pay back in time. Otherwise there will be additional fees and late fee or additional penalty. I can check on the lending promissory note and all that. So I think that's really cool because I turn away a lot of project because of that. Now that's opportunity for me to take a deeper look.
Yeah. And are you mainly looking at fix and flips or what are you doing for.
Yeah, I do. I like to lend short term like up to six months because I like to keep my money liquid which is important because sometimes I will have projects I'm interested in. I want to put money into it. I want to fund myself. So I don't like to fund long term project. And another great thing about it is when you sometimes land secondary lien. Secondary position. Right. You're not as protected of the first position but you get to ask higher return because there's higher risk involved. That's when the most informed or more educated lender will be able to determine their term. Right. Because there's not that many people will be willing to learn secondary lean position because there's high risk and because of that I can ask for higher return.
Yep.
Yeah.
Yep. Oh, it's. Overall, this trip's been amazing. I've done so many things I've never done. I've never gone hiking. I've. I went fishing when I was like 8. So I don't even know if that counts. Definitely a lot older now. So we can just say that was my first time fishing. Just so many cool things I've done on this trip. Definitely makes me want to be more of an outdoor person. It's just beautiful.
Yeah. You're gonna get so spoiled after the view today. Let's show them the view. Oh, my God. Look at this.
It's incredible. And the camera footage doesn't even do justice. What this looks like in real life.
We're just amazing. We're just halfway through the hidden hidden lake trail, and we just stopped here and said, oh, my God, this is so such amazing view. We're just gonna record something on the spot.
Yep. Awesome. You guys are probably super jealous. Sorry you're not here. Yeah, there's no competition. You didn't get in the room.
Next time, book it sooner.
Get in the room faster. Make it a priority.
Otherwise, I'm statching your. I'm snatching your spa.
See you guys next time.
