Two property managers discuss why trying to do everything yourself kills your business. They argue that your time is worth more than the money you save by handling every task, and that delegation is the only way to scale beyond a handful of properties.
Yeah, I would say that was a mistake. I did. I've just recently started learning to delegate more on the property management side because I have a bunch of properties in my core market. And just like you said, I mean, if there was a problem, I would just show up, Right. I would, you know, I would fix a lot of things myself.
Yeah.
And now I'm getting to the point where it's like there's so many. Yeah. I just bought five properties last month. And then there's like a bunch of issues happening all at once. Like, I can't just spend my whole day just going all these different properties. So I've had to, you know, really learn to delegate and value my time more. Even though it cost me more money. When I. When I measure that against the true value of my time, it doesn't cost me more money, but, like, financially, it's like, okay, well, normally I would have handled that myself. Now I'm paying someone to do that. But what are you, you know, going back to what you said before? When you're saying yes to certain things and you're saying no to your vision, it's like, I'm doing the same thing, right. If I'm trading my time for money, I'm saying no to what my Mount Everest is as well, right?
Yeah, 100%. And. And it takes a lot, right, to. To not be super hands on. Because like you said, we're saking hr. I could fix it myself.
